!2-1 First Morning

The next day, Rokuro is crudely woken up by sunlight in his face. He laments having to get out of bed for a while before he decides to get up and get dressed. Once ninety percent awake, he realizes that it's awfully quiet in the house. He compares this to his usual noisy mornings that come from having a roommate. A quick walk through the house and he realizes that he's alone.

In the kitchen, he finds a note written to him on the table, his name spelled wrong on the top. He ignores the misspelling, obviously used to such a thing, and reads the note to himself. From it he learns that Akemi left for school some time ago, and wouldn't be home until after kendo practice finished. He has no idea what kendo is, but isn't bothered by this. He's obviously more focused on the food sitting on the countertop.

Cut to Okashii High School and we quickly learn of Akemi's adversion to math class and her welcoming of its end. As the teacher leaves the room, the classroom bursts into conversation, leaving Akemi to doodle in her notebook until some books drop on her desk out of nowhere. Akemi recognizes the ponytail sticking out from behind the pile. Her friend Rie pops out not two seconds later with a massive grin on her face, asking if Akemi's weekend was eventful. Akemi lies and says no, leaving Rie to gush about the new books on the occult her cousin sent her from England.

Akemi tries to read one of the book's titles, and her mispronunciation makes Rie fall to the ground from laughing. Akemi ruefully reminds Rie that, like mathematics, English isn't her strongpoint. Rie points out that the title is in Latin, but this doesn't bring Akemi relief from her embarrassment at saying 'lettuce' instead of 'letalis'.

When Akemi questions another book title, Rie reveals that it's a book on magical beings - Witches, warlocks, and the like. Akemi wonders if it includes anything on wizard, to which Rie says that there's a high possibility. While Rie squeals over her best friend's newfound interest in the occult, the teacher throws chalk at her and tells her to be quiet. Keeping her voice down, Rie promises to find some information on wizards for her friend. Akemi doesn't seem to mind.

Back at the shrine, Rokuro is bored out of his skull. He's already explored a majority of the property in the time spent, leaving him with nothing to do in the house. When he takes a glance at how bright, shiny, and new the city of Tokyo looks, he decides to take a closer look around. After all, WhatCouldPossiblyGoWrong
