* CelebrityParadox: Cisco mockingly calls Savage "Franchise/{{Highlander}}". Creator/ClancyBrown's (Wade Eilling) StarMakingRole was [[Film/{{Highlander}} the film that started the franchise]]. [[Wrestling/{{Edge}} Adam Copeland]] (Al Rothstein/Atom Smasher) also played a {{Mook}} in ''Film/HighlanderEndgame''.

* AbsenteeActor:
** On the ''Series/{{Arrow}}'' side, Captain Lance (Creator/PaulBlackthorne) & Laurel Lance[=/=]Black Canary (Creator/KatieCassidy) are both missing. However, both characters are mentioned during the episode (the former was asked to look into Savage, the latter was already in Central City visiting her mother).

* KnifeNut: Savage apparently keeps ''32'' knives on his person.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: This episode includes the vast majority of the main and recurring casts of both shows, while also introducing two new characters: Vandal Savage and Hawkman.

* RealityEnsues: A bullet to the heart simply isn't something one person can handle, no matter how brilliant they are. The best Caitlin can do is stabilize Harry until Jay shows up. One person + Chemically-induced-superspeed ''can'' handle it.

* DebutQueue: The episode marks the debut of ComicBook/VandalSavage, ComicBook/{{Hawkman}} and Oliver's son that is possibly (later {{Jossed}}) the future [[ComicBook/GreenArrow Connor Hawke]].

* TwoLinesNoWaiting: While the Vandal Savage subplot is going on between both episodes of the crossover, the rest of the cast are working on solutions to defeat Zoom, making progress on this year's StoryArc.
** The point of Oliver's son doesn't become its own subplot until the Arrow portion of the crossover.

* ArtisticLicensePhysics: This episode brings back Barry's supposed Top speed of Mach 2. Apparently the writers still haven't figured out that his top feats are far faster than that and that Mach 2 is not even close to being enough for Time Travel (otherwise every second jet Pilot would be a time traveler). Hell, Jay Garrick even stated in a previous episode that he could reach near-light speed and that Barry is much faster than him. Though there is a chance that Barry is still being somewhat held back by memories of his brutal defeat at Zoom's hands and that the "Mach 2" top speed is the fastest speed Star Labs can actually measure.

* BigEntrance: Vandal Savage introduces himself to the heroes this way. Twice.

** On the ''Series/{{Arrow}}'' side, Captain Lance (Paul Blackthorne) & Laurel Lance[=/=]Black Canary (Creator/KatieCassidy) are both missing. However, both characters are mentioned during the episode (the former was asked to look into Savage, the latter was already in Central City visiting her mother).

** Subverted when it becomes apparent that Speedsters don't actually need to attain light speed to time travel, and rather to acquire a sufficient amount of energy from the Speed Force. Thus, Barry's top speed is more a long the lines of Mach 3.

* ShootHimHeHasAWallet: Patty mistakes Wells's speed-serum syringe for a gun and pumps a bullet into him.

* GenreSavvy: Barry very quickly deduces that the mysterious man has ties to mysticism--despite the fact that nothing mystical has ever happened in Central City thus far--and so knows to contact Oliver, who's [[WesternAnimation/{{Vixen}} dealt with]] [[Arrow/SeasonFour this before.]]

* MagicStaff: The Staff of Horus.

* NoExceptYes: Barry and Patty aren't "avoiding showing affection in front of Joe"; they're "maintaining professionalism."

* BadAss: Hawkman picks up Barry ''while the latter is running at the former at super speed.''

* OutsideContextVillain: Vandal Savage is an immortal being with no clear ties to any of the characters or organizations seen on either show thus far.

* BigEntrance: Vandal Savage did introduces himself to the heroes this way. Twice.

* HollywoodTactics: When Team Arrow (minus Black Canary) ambushed H.I.V.E. Oliver opend a battle with [[TrickArrow magnet arrow]] and dissarmed all ghosts at once. That in itself is perfectly understandable. What is ''not'' understandable is that Team Arrow after this jumped down from container they were standing on and engaged in fist-fight instead of using high ground advantage and bowing down ghosts from above. This wouldn't have worked on Darhk, since he an stop arrows, but ''would'' have worked on ghosts. Especially glaring since it's ''Green Arrow'' we're talking about.

* NoExceptYes: Barry and Patti aren't "avoiding showing affection in front of Joe"; they're "maintaining professionalism."

* GodzillaThreshold: After vehemently refusing to be associated with the thing, had to Jay take the Velocity formula to briefly restore his powers and save Harry's life.
