Rusty, Sam, Rose and Jason all head to the Von Straussen mansion. It's revealed that Mr. Von Straussen not only employs both Rusty's and Sam's father, but also owns a PersonalArcade. Rusty and Rose play a rare pinball game called "Tortar". After a tight game, Rusty ends up just barely winning. Rose takes the loss hard until her father Konrad steps out from the shadows, talks to her about sportsmanship and orders to to apologize to Rusty. They do...and then decide to have another video game challenge!

The story starts with Rusty and Sam coming home from school one afternoon, heading into the general store for a soda. Inside, they encounter local rich girl Rose Von Straussen bullying the shopkeeper's youngest daughter. After shopkeeper Matthew Talbot deals with Rose, the angry girl and her younger brother Konrad confront Rusty and Sam outside. Some harsh words are exchanged and Rusty is challenged to a pinball game by Rose after he brags about his skills.
