I'd say this is less of a Bad Boss move and more Mr. Krabs having an exaggerated case of Suicidal Overconfidence.

* BadBoss:
** Plankton is this to [=SpongeBob=] at first (threatening to tear out his brain for failure), but then he becomes ''too'' [[BenevolentBoss lenient of a boss]] - though it is just as possible [=SpongeBob=] refused to make a Krabby Patty for Plankton to keep him from getting the secret formula.
** Mr. Krabs could qualify as well, seeing that he gambled away [=SpongeBob=]'s contract to Plankton just to save himself some money. This is parallel to human trafficking. It could be because Mr. Krabs admits at the beginning of the episode that he's ''never'' lost a game of poker against Plankton for years and may have bet said contract under the belief there wasn't anything to worry about (and Plankton admits he cheated at the end too). And he [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone regrets it]] when he loses.

When an artist's pencil lands in Bikini Bottom, [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick realize the pencil has magical properties, causing whatever is drawn to become real. While using the pencil to play some pranks on Squidward, [=SpongeBob=] makes a doodle version of himself, which takes on a monstrous mind of its own.

this is, charitably, a stretch.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Spongebob uses a magic pencil to create a 2D version of himself, with unfortunate results. This episode was produced in 2001 and aired in 2002-the same time as [[Series/LizzieMcGuire a certain Disney Channel sitcom with a similar premise.]] The similarities actually become much less coincidental once you examine the episode in detail:
** Early in the episode, we see Squidward at his vanity mirror lamenting his baldness-but otherwise mostly praising his own appearance. While he mentions having "talent", neither the clarinet nor his art are specifically referenced-because the character he's playing does not have those talents to begin with! Better yet, a flashback in "The Original Fry Cook" later reveals Squidward once had flowing blonde hair not unlike said character. Not long after, Squidward finds the fake dollar and decides to spend it on a perm-which while already outdated by that time is otherwise ''also'' something she'd have done upon finding money.
** When Patrick draws a 2D Squidward, the result is very crudely drawn and hardly resembles the original, to the point where Spongebob even comments "It's kinda creepy looking when it moves". Early season 1 episodes of the source material were only slightly better than Patrick's work.
** Both of Spongebob's pranks are treated exactly as they would have been on the actual show. Being tricked out of money and going bald is obvious LaserGuidedKarma, while getting beaten up by your animated clone is nothing less than DisproportionateRetribution, particularly since both consider the target at least a partial friend/acquittance.
** Patrick's disparaging comments toward Doodlebob/Spongebob's appearance are also accurate, as his character was invariably the most appearance/fashion conscious of the main trio. Fortunately, she'd also have been nice enough to backtrack once remembering that she's still in earshot.
** After Doodlebob sharpens his half of the magic pencil, Spongebob claims to still have the advantage by claiming to have been voted "most artistic in high school". After accidently knocking his own half out the window, Spongebob recollects that he might have instead been voted "most clumsy". "Clumsy" was in fact one of the title character's primary character traits. In addition, Spongebob may be physically an adult, but he's long been stated to be emotionally a teenager. (with the earlier episode "Sleepy Time" even revealing his age to be 13, the same as the main character.)
*** Another note: The source series actually takes place in middle school/junior high, ''not'' high school, but this was a more than understandable mistake given most tween/teen media of the time (which tended to treat grades 7-12 as one and the same, and often extended this [[CollegeIsHighSchoolPart2 as far as college!]])
** Finally, after Doodlebob is defeated, Spongebob explains to Patrick that his actions were the result of a sense of purposelessness as a 2D being existing in a 3D world. This likely alludes to that in the source material, the title character's human and animated forms never appeared together. Is it possible that the latter is actually hiding in the former's home and secretly following and talking through her out of a similar lack of direction......?
