* ComplexityAddiction: Sandy schedules a rocket launch with carefully considered resources, though when [=SpongeBob=] botches the whole thing and supposedly gets lost on the moon, she reveals her suit allows her to quickly travel back and forth with zero effort.

** The chapter book also adds in some scenes like [=SpongeBob=] wanting to show Sandy a new karate move before seeing the rocket, Mrs. Puff sending [=SpongeBob=] to the corner for netting her, and extra scenes where they netted Pearl and Plankton.

* AdaptationExpansion: A chapter book version of the episode has an extended ending. After [=SpongeBob=] finds out that he was on the moon, he let everybody out of the nets and apologized to all of the characters for what he's done. He even offers to stay on the Moon, accepting banishment from Bikini Bottom as punishment. Instead, Sandy takes control of her ship to take everybody back home, but not before she uses the net gun on [=SpongeBob=] in his place.

* AnAesop: Don't mess around with other people's stuff.

* {{Feelies}}: As mentioned above, this episode and Sandy's Rocket included scratch and sniff cards for specific scenes. This episode only had one sticker, which was used when Mr. Krabs dips the boots in fryer oil, shrinking them.

* {{Feelies}}: This episode and Squeaky Boots had specific scratch and sniff stickers released by Burger King to promote ''WesternAnimation/TheRugratsMovie''. The smells involved included the scenes where Patrick gets toothpaste in [=SpongeBob's=] peanut butter and when [=SpongeBob=] pulls out Squidward's hot water bottle. Ironically, the symbol used to signify when to scratch and sniff was accidentally left in the episode until 2002, three years after the stickers were discontinued.

* NoEnding: The episode ends with [=SpongeBob=] stranded on the moon with his friends netted and the rocket out of fuel, leaving no explanation of how everyone managed to return to Bikini Bottom.

* EarlyBirdCameo: [[Recap/SpongeBobSquarePantsS3E3TheBullyJustOneBite Flats]] appears amongst the people kidnapped by [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick. Him being kidnapped also might've been the reason he wanted kick [=SpongeBob=]'s butt

* OffscreenKarma: If the irate tone of the "aliens" is any indication, SpongeBob is going to be put through the wringer for his stupidity.

* WingdingEyes: When Mr. Krabs picks up the boots after lifting the Krusty Krab, his eyes turn into X's.

* JerkToNiceGuyPlot: Mr. Krabs tried shortchanging both Pearl and then [=SpongeBob=] by only getting a pair of $2 squeaky boots for Pearl for her birthday and then manipulating [=SpongeBob=] into paying off the shoes. But then the shoes are too squeaky, so he decides to get rid of them and in the process he redeems himself:
** 1. He pays [=SpongeBob=] the wages he earned (he at first added a bonus, but retracted).
** 2. He buys Pearl the glossy shoes she always wanted to match her friends' shoes.

* Tempting Fate: Just before [= SpongeBob=] goes to bed with his boots on he says that he's never taking them off, though he's gonna have to some time. But of course, seconds later Mr. Krabs appears and swipes them off.
