* GoKartingWithBowser: ZigZagged; Eggman briefly convinces Sonic to act for him in his movie, but he's using the production as a ruse to illegally dig for rare minerals. [[spoiler: That story is a double-ruse in order to trick Sonic into providing some convincing takes for his movie, and then a triple-ruse to brainwash everyone in the village with a machine while they're watching it. But when he learns that he and his robots never got around to installing the brainwashing machine, he doesn't mind much.]]

* AmateurFilmMakingPlot: Dr. Eggman decides to film a movie about his life and his rivalry with Sonic. He offers to let Sonic play himself, but Sonic turns him down, so Eggman casts Dave the Intern for the role instead. After Dave's bumbling portrayal, Sonic interrupts the filming and Eggman offers the role to Sonic again, which Amy accepts in his stead, claiming Sonic as her client.

* CastingGag: After Sonic turns down starring in Dr. Eggman's movie, Dave the Intern fills in for him. Both Sonic and Dave are voiced by the same voice actor, Roger Craig Smith.

Eggman's movie soon premiers on his island headquarters, and everybody from the village has been invited. The flick turns out to be a rather melodramatic piece about one mad scientist's dream to build an evil amusement park, but in spite of this (or, actually, probably because of it), everybody laughs out loud whenever Eggman delivers his lines. Eggman berates the crowd and wonders out loud why they aren't all hypnotized. Turns out that Eggman was so wrapped up in making his movie that he forgot to install mind-control equipment on his camera, as originally planned. His triple-ruse having failed, Eggman tells everyone to beat it, and settles for watching his film by his lonesome. At the very least, he seems genuinely moved by his own work in the end.
