* AlienLunch: The episode starts with Jack and Ashi looking for lunch and they stop at a shop with such food. While Jack doesn't really bat an eye due to his long time in the future, Ashi is taken aback by the food. It temporarily turns Jack's head into a fish.

Out in space, a rectancular ship travels through the darkness. A meteor shower mostly pings off its surface until one particularly big rock knocks the ship entirely off course and sends it crashing to Earth.

* NiceHat: Jack makes a unique-colored kasa for himself and Ashi to keep the sun off them. The hats, however, get blown away in a dust storm, convenient for the narrative as they stumble on the prison ship, and entering the ship with the hats on would prove to be silly.

** The walrus fish vendor is an {{Expy}} of Wally Walrus from ''WesternAnimationWoodyWoodpecker''. Right down to having Creator/BillyWest voice him like in the 1999 cartoon.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: During a scene with romantic undertones, Jack and Ashi get crammed together rather closely on transit. Ashi then comments that [[SomethingElseAlsoRises something's poking her]]...though, thankfully, it's only the hilt of Jack's katana.

* TheNudifier: Ashi ends up getting her clothes destroyed by Lazarus-90, leaving her naked until Jack makes her wear his gi.

* {{Adorkable}}: For two incredibly competent badass warriors, Jack and Ashi are incredibly and amusingly awkward dealing with their UnresolvedSexualTension.

* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Creator/PhilLaMarr's American accent comes out a bit when Jack has to shout, particularly when he yells "Ashi! You're naked!!" [[TropesAreNotBad It works to the joke's advantage, though]]: Jack's Japanese nobleman's eloquence is so disturbed by how genuinely and intensely flustered he is from seeing Ashi naked that he can't even speak properly.

Then suddenly their attraction, spurred by their survival, kicks in. They are [[OffscreenTeleportation instantly]] in each other's arms, locked in a BigDamnKiss as a Creator/DeanMartin song plays in the background.
