* ButtMonkey:
** Meggy gets the short end of the stick during most of her appearances in this episode. She suffers two harsh bites from the Crocodile Dentist toy that require bandages, Mario captures her in a Pokéball as the "short gremlin Pokemon" (something she takes offense to), and whatever she suffered inside the Pokeball – apparently involving [[MonsterClown Monster Clowns]] – traumatized her badly.
** Tari, as usual. This time she accidentally sets off over a dozen bear traps Bob had set in the storage room to stop Mario.

No speculation.

* AmbiguousInnocence: Some viewers suspect that Mario is not in complete control of his actions here. While obsessing over Pokemon and capturing people are both things that Mario would do, there are a few hints that suggest the TV Adware is somehow controlling him. Namely, when Mario tunes Luigi out while he's talking, you can see and hear TV static in the background. Mario's speech about rock music (that doesn't seem to be a reference to any particular meme) also raises red flags, being spoken in an unfitting voice and subtitled in a text font that's a bit too... "classy" for someone like Mario.
