** Evil Morty goes into a MotiveRant, pondering the question of WhatIsEvil, during which he concludes that he is being labeled as "evil", simply because he is fed up with Rick's behavior and wants to get away from him. All the while, he never acknowledges any of the suffering and death he callously and often needlessly has inflicted upon both numerous Ricks and fellow Mortys.

All the while, It becomes zigzagged though: While he never acknowledges any of the suffering and death he callously and often needlessly has inflicted upon both numerous Ricks and fellow Mortys.Mortys as bad, he reveals the countless numerous psychotic and messed-up Ricks in the Curve to justify that he isn't "evil" when his actions are things that a Rick can and probably ''has'' done at some point for their own selfish reasons, so any form of demonising him compared to Rick is just hypocrisy.

* CardCarryingVillain: Played with. Evil Morty gleefully accepts and acknowledges his title, and doesn't really try to defend his actions. However, he seems convinced that the ProtagonistCenteredMorality of the series is the ''only'' reason he is considered evil, and doesn't actually take responsibility for his actions, deflecting the blame to the circumstances just like he said the Ricks do. That might seem hypocritical of him, but it's actually an inversion; it's hypocritical of ''Rick and Morty'' to call him Evil when Ricks have done the same actions as him for their own reasons. The only reason they are considered favourable or defended really is ProtagonistCenteredMorality on the fact that their Ricks.

Why did you delete these? You need to write a reason in the Edit box, since these edits are perfectly viable.. As for the Citadel "contradiction", Evil Morty says that he "practically built" it(so not meant to be taken 100% literally, but still with truth to it), the Inside the Episode says that Rick is more of an integral founding father than he would like, the episode saw him planning with the Council to make the Citadel and his memory scan shows that he had blueprints of the Citadel, and you can see that he only left the Citadel once it was mostly built. It isn't a contradiction.

** Evil Morty being "evil" stems from his Rick's ego and putting up with it. Like with Rick, though (see below), the excuse is downplayed/doesn't entirely hold up because, despite manipulating the Citadel's system to become president and knowing how Mortys in general are victims of it, he decides to just leave it all behind and ''kill'' all of the Mortys of the Citadel along with the Ricks.

* NotSoSimilar: Despite the above, Evil Morty, thanks to being TheSociopath with a massive LackOfEmpathy, doesn't seem to understand that what ''truly'' makes him "evil" is how he has tortured and/or murdered a multitude of Ricks ''and'' fellow Mortys without batting an eye, sometimes to the point of major overkill and even when it wasn't necessary for his plans. By contrast, though Morty C-137 has gotten incredibly fed up with Rick to the point of being willing to kill him or let him die, he has otherwise only been complicit in the deaths of Ricks who were trying to kill him or his family, and has never knowingly gotten involved with hurting other Mortys, even showing horror when he has inadvertently done so.

Though it suggested that it's actually a case of NotSoDifferent with Evil Morty and ''Rick''.

** A ''lot'' of what Evil Morty says becomes questionable due to certain contradictions, such as claiming Rick C-137 ''created'' the Citadel, whereas the flashback Morty saw of Rick's past showed he, at best, helped in making the ''concept'' before bailing on it while the Council finished it, not helped by Evil Morty openly admitting to lying about certain things, making it hard to trust the validity of ''anything'' he said and whether or not he's just lying to further his goals and potentially turn Morty against Rick, which would make it less likely either of them would survive his plot.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Morty having used the aging serum on himself to attempt to guilt Rick into returning is ultimately responsible for all the disaster that occurs in the rest of the episode. They have to return to the Citadel to de-age him, and once they're there, Evil Morty is able to gain access to the memory scan he took from Rick in Season 1, allowing him to kick-start his plans, while also preventing them from escaping the way they arrived via hijacking Rick's portal gun.

* WhatIsEvil: Evil Morty claims the reason he is called "evil" is because Ricks function on ProtagonistCenteredMorality, and as such, anything that goes against them is considered "evil". He says he's just a Morty who got fed up with his Rick, and that ''any'' Morty can become "Evil Morty" the moment they get fed up with their Ricks too. His speech gets undermined, though, due to the fact he's not "evil" because he opposes Rick, he's "evil" because he is no better than the Ricks if not ''worse'' due to going out of his way to be as callous as possible to both Ricks ''and'' Mortys, while also being willing to screw everyone and everything over for ''his'' goals.

** There is also the bartender calling Morty a "poser" for ordering rum and coke as a forty year old, at first this seems like a joke on Morty's immaturity until we find out that he actually ''is'' a poser who aged himself to forty while still having the mind of a fourteen years old.

No, the Citadel was made after he rejected Weird Rick. Weird Rick is independent of the Citadel. And there was no truce, Rick was originally part of the planners for the Citadel, but broke off when he got fed up with the idea.

*** There's more to that: the Citadel was established as a truce between C-137 and the other Ricks. As mentioned before, C-137 already went on a Rick-killing spree once, and he was called in because more Ricks were being murmured. They weren't shocked by his decrying of the Citadel, he was never a supporter (hell, the whole thing started because he didn't want to join), they were afraid that he was ending the truce.

** This episode confirms that C-137 Rick was picking up science when Beth was just a child, she died shortly after and he only saw her again once she was already grown up and with family. Although the level he reached might not have been the same shown in "The Rickshank Redemption", we are shown that it took at least some time after her death to discover the portal technology. However, "The [=ABCs=] of Beth" established that C-137 Rick had enough scientific ability to create and move between dimensions when Beth was still a child and that he was already deep enough in his scientific experiments that Beth asked him for all sorts of weapons and machinery. Even assuming the alternate Rick developed differently enough to do all that, Rick had no way to know it, having had a radically different experience with his daughter. The callous way he describes creating an alternate dimension just to have some quiet also conflicts with Rick refusing to join the proto-citadel to be simply a family man. Though, it's firmly established that Rick has the technology to see people's memories, so he may have just scanned Beth's or another Rick's mind to get his story straight, and since Rick has made other references to abandoning Beth when he didn't actually do so, it seems likely that he's just putting on this facade to hide that his own Beth died a long time ago. Why would he chose to be so callous instead of building a healthy relationship with Beth, however, it's anyone's guess.

** Rick’s entire backstory is revealed, and it ultimately confirms what we saw in "The Rickshank Rickdemption". To elaborate: "a Rick" killed Rick C-137's wife and daughter, so he went on an anti-Rick killing spree until he established the incarnation of the Citadel we first saw, then left to rejoin a version of Beth that had been abandoned by a Rick.
* WhatIsEvil: Evil Morty claims the reason he is called "evil" is because Rick's function on ProtagonistCenteredMorality, and as such anything that goes against them is considered "evil". He says he's just a Morty who got fed up with his Rick, and that ''any'' Morty can become "Evil Morty" the moment they get fed up with their Ricks too. * WhatTheHellHero: After Evil Morty reveals to Morty C-137 about how Mortys are literally bred and cloned countless times to have an infinite supply available for Ricks, Morty gives an angry "What the ''fuck''?!" and demands to know from Rick if this is true. Rick tries to claim it's more complicated than that, causing both Mortys to retort in unison with "Liar", and then just avoids answering the question in favor of breaking out of his restraints and escaping. He later does, however, remind Morty that he's not personally responsible for the actions of every Rick in the multiverse, something that Evil Morty disagrees with since not only is C-137 responsible for building the Citadel in the first place, but because literally ''every Rick'' uses that line and the idea that they're the Underdog to justify every horrible act they do.

** Evil Morty being "evil" stems from his Rick's ego and putting up with it. Like with Rick, though (see below), the excuse is downplayed/doesn't entirely hold up because, despite manipulating the Citadel's system to become president and knowing how Mortys in general are victims of it, he decides to just leave it all behind and ''kill'' all of the Mortys of the Citadel along with the Ricks because Mortys are unwitting enablers of Ricks that will almost always take their side.

Though, due to the reveal of numerous psychotic and messed-up Ricks in the Curve, it could be suggesting that any actions he takes that seem "evil" is something that a Rick can and probably ''has'' done at some point, so any form of demonising him compared to Rick is just hypocrisy.

His speech gets undermined though due to the fact he's not "Evil" because he opposes Rick, he's "Evil" because he is no better than the Ricks if not ''worse'' due to going out of his way to be as callous as possible to both Rick's ''and'' Morty's, while also being willing to screw everyone and everything over for ''his'' goals.
