* RealityIsUnrealistic: This episode makes it seem as though eating a dozen eggs covered in loads of chili and cheese with a side of biscuits and a fruit bowl in under an hour would be this super difficult challenge you can only beat using a certain strategy. While any average person (like Mordecai or Jonathan Kimble) would definitely struggle with such a food challenge, as Andrew from ''WebVideo/BingingWithBabish'' pointed out in the description of his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImoP-Apzrsg "Eggscellent Challenge" video]], literally any competitive eater worth their salt in real life would easily beat it. There is also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXH2ymJ8Rmw this video]] of a British competitive eater who not only beats the challenge but actually ''doubled'' the portion size because he thought tackling the omelette as described in the show would've been ''[[SelfImposedChallenge too easy]]''.

** Benson's MeanBoss behavior. Most of the time, the guy just yells at Mordecai and Rigby for screwing up with no real bad blood between either party. Here, Benson decides to harp on them about poor work ethic
without considering Mordecai's feelings. Mordecai loses it and attacks Benson, pointing out that Rigby's faults didn't mean he deserved to be stuck in a coma. He also goes the extra mile and says Benson's lousy behavior is why he has no ''real'' friends, with the park crew only spending any time with him because he signs their paychecks.

* BlamingTheVictim: Benson openly blames Rigby's hospitalized state on his own stupidity, prompting Mordecai to lash out at him by punching him in the face.

* EveryoneHasStandards: After Benson says he hopes Mordecai learned something from this, a FreezeFrameBonus as Mordecai says "What?" shows Skips and Muscle Man glaring at Benson disapprovingly with Mordecai. They clearly don't approve of Benson having NoSympathy for Rigby either.

Benson wasn't entirely wrong when chastising Mordecai for getting himself and Rigby into the mess they're in right now; the ''real'' problem was that it ''wasn't'' the best time to say such a thing and that was a '''''very''''' wrong time. There's a time and place for everything.
* JerkassRealization: Deconstructed. Benson apologizes to Mordecai for the NoSympathy comment and admitted: "it was a stupid thing to say." But it seems that Mordecai still finds it hard to forgive him because Benson should have ''never'' said such a thing in the first place.

* MeanBoss: Deconstructed and PlayedForDrama. Benson declares Rigby's predicament as a ''learning experience'' for not being at work like he and Mordecai were supposed to. Mordecai punches him in the face, tells him not everything has to do with work, and lays into him that he doesn't even have any real friends and his workers only spend time with him because he's their superior.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Mordecai calls out Benson for being insensitive and unsympathetic towards Rigby's coma and possible death and how he decides to involve their jobs over it when it had nothing to do with it. He also points out that he doesn't really have any friends and that his employees only hang out with him because he's their boss. After that, Mordecai leaves to go back to the restaurant, determined to keep his promise to Rigby.

* WeAreNotGoingThroughThatAgain: At the end, Rigby sees a promo for a Steak and eggs-eating competition as the winner receives a free T-shirt that says "RAISE THE STEAKS!" Rigby eagerly asks Mordecai to eat the eggs while he eats the steaks. Mordecai and everyone else decide to try and remove the Eggscellent Hat to see if he'll go back into a coma.

* RageAgainstTheMentor: More like “Rage Against The Lecturing Boss” but the idea still applies. Mordecai lashes out at Benson after the latter belittles Rigby for his comatose state, saying he has no real friends and the others only hang out with him because he signs their paychecks.
