* GetOut: Salem, trembling with SuppressedRage after finding out that Ozpin has resurfaced, harshly orders all of her subordinates to "leave." Realizing that Salem is about to explode, everyone wisely decides to get the hell out of Dodge.

* RageBreakingPoint: Salem becomes increasingly angry the more she hears from her subordinates. When Hazel tries to take responsibility for the failure in Haven, she throws the conference table to the side, but otherwise doesn't harm anyone and focusses on interrogating the truth from them via inciting terror of what she'll do to them. However, when Hazel tells her that Ozpin led the protagonists at Haven and is currently in charge of the Relic, she falls silent. As the windows start cracking around her, and black smoke starts swirling out of her body, she orders everyone to leave. Once the doors have closed, she releases her range with a powerful scream that shatters every single window.

Oh Crap and Mass Oh Crap don't both need to be here given that they're talking about the same events. Removed Oh Crap. Only Sane Man shoehorning; Pet The Dog misuse (Salem isn't petting the dog by revealing this, she's issuing a behavioural warning to everyone and Mercury's shown this concern for Emerald in the past, so it's consistent characterisation); Maria doesn't count as Precision F Strike because 'damned' has now been used several times since Volume 3. Her commanding a Grimm to restrain Hazel isn't Psychic Strangle. Reality Ensues misuse (it's all just covering consistent characterisation). Screw This Im Outta Here shoehorning (The villains are ordered to leave, and Ozpin disappears in response to Qrow telling him that meeting him is the worst thing that's ever happened to him — since we don't yet know Ozpin's motive, we can't trope it, but it's strongly implied to be an Heroic BSOD). Speak Ill Of The Dead shoehorning. Talk To The Fist misuse (this isn't a combat situation, and Qrow isn't cutting off Ozpin; he's reacting to something Ozpin said with anger); Tranquil Fury misuse (Salem is definitely not tranquil in this episode, and Ruby's no more or less calm than several of the other characters — everyone's angry with Ozpin, but it's only Yang and Qrow who lash out). Villainous Breakdown misuse (she's already troped here as Rage Breaking Point, that's the right trope); Wham misuse (Wham is for things that come out of nowhere, that can't be predicted in advance, that haven't been foreshadowed, or haven't been set up in advance by the plot; his line was set up by the plot, and fans guessed the previous episode that Ozpin had no plan for killing her). Would Hurt A Child isn't the trope that's in effect here (and the trope description explicitly says that teenagers are exempt).

* MassOhCrap: When the news about Ozpin returning has been given to Salem, the discussion that begins over what to do about it abruptly stops as the gang notices the windows are cracking. Black smoke starts to leave her body and she tells them all the leave the room. The group are so alarmed and fearful that they leave as quickly as they can.
* OhCrap:
** Mercury, perhaps due to his own background on reading people, is the first to realize that Salem is about to snap, even before the window near him starts to crack from Salem's anger, and after the MassOhCrap the group has, he's one of the first to bolt from the room.
** Watts has this reaction when Hazel mentions that Ozpin has resurfaced, realizing that if he and the group get to Atlas, they could get through to Ironwood. However, it quickly turns into a MassOhCrap when the group notices that Salem's rage is about to break, at which point they quickly hightail it out of the room.
* OnlySaneMan: While everyone is either freaking out over the knowledge Salem can't be killed or pissed at Ozpin, Maria keeps her head on straight and gets the others to put it aside and get moving lest they attract more Grimm.
** Ruby as well to a lesser extent. While she doesn't fully take charge of the situation like Maria, Ruby nonetheless remains composed and focused, asking Ozpin direct questions and at least trying to look out for Oscar, which is more than can be said for the rest of her team at the moment.
* PetTheDog:
** Surprisingly, Salem, in the middle of grilling Hazel, Mercury, and Emerald over the failure at Haven, deliberately reveals that Cinder is still alive, which, for how terrifying the situation is, is actually something that serves to reassure Emerald, if only a little.
** Mercury again shows compassion for Emerald, snarling at Tyrian to back off when the latter bullies her and gets in her personal space while threatening her.
* PrecisionFStrike: Yang angrily calls Ozpin a bastard when the latter retreats back into Oscar's mind, infuriated that not only has he still kept secrets from the group, but is now, in her mind, trying to hide instead of confronting them directly. Maria, while breaking up the fighting amongst the group and insisting that they get a move on, declares that she'll be damned if she lives such a long life just to perish in the cold.
* PsychicStrangle: A variant. Salem can summon Grimm arms to restrain targets. She uses this on Hazel when he attempts to shoulder full responsibility for the failure of Haven.
* RageBreakingPoint: Salem was angry but still relatively composed until the topic of Ozpin came up.
* RealityEnsues:
** Learning of Ozpin's tragic past does not instantly dispel the bad mood in the group, and learning that Salem can't be destroyed has only made the mood worse. When Ozpin, who is now just as emotionally worked up as the rest of the group, is asked what his plan regarding Salem is, he admits that he doesn't have one, which only makes the others angrier.
** Several regarding Oscar:
*** Any injuries Oscar's body sustains will naturally be felt by him, so when Qrow decks Ozpin in the face, Oscar feels the pain after regaining control.
*** Oscar is only 14 years old, and unlike Team RWBY, he hasn't trained to handle the job of a huntsman, leaving him very emotionally fragile after all he's experienced.
** While Team RWBY and Qrow have all the right to be angry with Ozpin, they can't focus on it for too long lest their emotions attract the Grimm, doubly so with the fact the Grimm are attracted by the Relic of Knowledge, something pointed out by Maria when telling everyone to keep moving.
** Emerald may have UndyingLoyalty towards Cinder, but when Salem demands to hear from her who led to the failure at Haven, not even that will stop Emerald from admitting to it being Cinder's fault.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** After the reveals and being attacked, Ozpin is quite rattled by everything and decides to lock himself away deep in Oscar's mind. Not even Oscar, the person he shares a body and mind with, knows what he's up to now.
** Salem's enforcers flee the room when she learns that Ozpin was involved in the Haven situation.
* SelfHarm: Tyrian, likely to intimidate Emerald, deliberately rubs his cheek on one of her blades which leaves a bleeding cut.
* SpeakIllOfTheDead: Tyrian openly mocks Cinder's apparent death to Emerald's face and laughs over it. Emerald immediately draws her weapons on him and threatens to "cut off more than his tail." Of course, Cinder isn't actually dead, but Tyrian didn't know it at the time.
* SummonMagic: Salem demonstrates the ability to summon Grimm arms.
* TalkToTheFist: When Ozpin tearfully admits that he has no plan to defeat Salem, Qrow becomes so enraged that he punches Oscar in the face.
* TranquilFury:
** Salem can terrify her subordinates with the thought of her rage while sounding completely calm. The tranquil part goes out the window when Hazel reveals that Ozpin has resurfaced.
** Compared to Yang and Qrow, Ruby is in this state for the first scene, trying to give Ozpin a chance to explain his plan and only beginning to get angry once Ozpin admits he doesn't have a plan.
* VillainousBreakdown: Despite being understandably angry over the fiasco at Haven, Salem manages to keep herself reasonably calm and restrained. When Hazel reveals that Ozpin has resurfaced, however, Salem's rage becomes so great that the windows begin to crack and she harshly orders her subordinates to leave before letting out a primal scream of fury that shatters the room's windows.
* WhamLine: Ozpin straight up admitting "I don't have one," when Ruby asks him what his plan is.
* WouldHurtAChild: Qrow punching Oscar due to his anger with Ozpin.
* YouHaveFailedMe: Salem decides to leave Cinder in exile despite knowing of her survival until she "redeems" herself. She also comes within a hairs-breadth of killing Hazel for trying to shoulder the blame.

to:

* MassOhCrap: MassOhCrap:
** When Hazel tries to take responsibility for the failure to obtain the Relic of Knowledge, Salem throws the massive conference table with a mere thought and shouts that wouldn't be fair. As she marches towards Hazel, and stretches out her arm towards him, Tyrian remains frozen on the ground where he fell, Watts quickly steps behind a chair out of her way, and Emerald and Mercury back away from Hazel with terror on their faces.

Grammar clean-up, Zero Context Example clean-up. Berserk Button misuse (it's not for things people can be legitimately enraged about); Broke Bird misuse (Qrow isn't, but Ozma seems to be); The Bus Came Back misuse (Tyrian was never written out of the show); Cool Big Bro misuse (there's no sign he's this trope, at the moment he's just assuming responsibility); Qrow sips from his flask, like he always does. If he does end up Drowning His Sorrows, it won't be in this episode. Freudian Threat shoehorning (her threat could apply to head, feet, hands, you name it, there's no indication it has to be interpreted sexually). Never Speak Ill Of The Dead is guessing about Hazel's motives.

* AbandonedArea: A deserted farmstead called “Brunswick Farms”. It’s also where the heroes decide to hole up for the night.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Qrow reveals that no one wanted him or accepted his curse except Ozpin, so losing his faith in the man is devastating.
* BerserkButton: Salem's hatred for Ozpin is so deep that the mere mention of his name is enough to stoke her rage. When Hazel mentions that Ozpin has resurfaced and is leading Team RWBY to Atlas with the Relic of Knowledge in tow, Salem's fury becomes so great that the windows begin to crack with her rage. She harshly orders the group to leave and takes a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself before letting out a primal scream of rage that shatters all the windows in the room.
* BrokenBird: No pun intended, but Qrow solidifies himself as this here. The man he put his faith in, who made him feel like he was worth something when everyone else decried him as cursed and unwanted, has proven to have no plan beyond an IndyPloy and has led countless people to a seemingly meaningless death. Now all Qrow can do is drown his sorrows and protect his nieces. Meanwhile, Ozpin himself thinks that Qrow has a point when he says that meeting him was the worst mistake of his life, and retreats into Oscar's mind.
* BrokenPedestal: If the Pedestal wasn't broken prior to this, Qrow decking Ozpin/Oscar in the face sealed the deal.
* BrutalHonesty: Oscar is horrified when he thinks he'll simply be another of Ozma's lives. Ruby tries to comfort him by saying he's his own person, but Qrow swiftly rebukes her.

Even when Ozpin's behaviour concerned Ironwood, Qrow decking Ozpin/Oscar in took Ozpin's side without a second thought. Raven couldn't understand why Qrow continued to be loyal even after everything he'd seen about Salem. Even when Ozpin was reincarnating, Qrow faithfully carried out Ozpin's standing orders. * TheBusCameBack: After being reduced to a name-drop for an entire season, Tyrian makes his first appearance since Volume 4 after losing his tail and enduring Salem's disappointment.
* CombatSadomasochist: When Tyrian rubs his face on the side of Emerald's twin blades and deliberately cuts the skin on his cheek to intimidate her, he lets out a gaspy-sounding moan when the blades penetrate the skin, indicating he probably enjoyed the feeling.
* CoolBigBro: Hazel begins to look after Emerald when Salem is about to have a VillainousBreakdown, pulling her out of the room before she is paralyzed with fear. This was lightly inged in Volume 5's finale when Hazel grabbed Emerald after she knocked herself out by overclocking her semblance, when he just as easily could have left her behind.
* DrowningMySorrows: After coming to see Ozpin as a BrokenPedestal, Qrow TookALevelInCynic and goes back to downing his flask.

However it's after seeing the dark aura leaving her body after Salem learns that Ozpin is back that the villains get out of dodge to avoid her wrath.
* NeverSpeakIllOfTheDead: At least attempted by the villains of all people. When Salem deliberately asks who was responsible for the failure in Haven, Hazel assumes full responsibility, instead of correctly pinning the blame on Cinder. Emerald is similarly reluctant to throw Cinder under the bus, and it takes considerable intimidation from Salem for her to admit the truth. Subverted, in that Cinder isn't actually dead, but neither Hazel nor Emerald know it at the time.
