* KickTheDog: As Oscar laments that he'll just be another one of Ozma's lives, Ruby tries to convince him otherwise, only for Qrow to accuse her of lying to him and denying the truth. Also, well, literally ''punching'' Oscar earlier.

* NeverSpeakIllOfTheDead: At least attempted by the Villains of all people. When Salem deliberately asks who was responsible for the failure in Haven, Hazel assumes full responsibility, instead of correctly pinning the blame on Cinder. Emerald is similarly reluctant to throw Cinder under the bus, and it takes considerable intimidation from Salem for her to admit the truth. Subverted, in that Cinder isn't actually dead, but neither Hazel nor Emerald know it at the time.

* IndyPloy: Deconstructed, as when Blake asks Ozpin what his plan was after knowing that Salem can't be killed, he simply says he has none. No one takes this kindly.

*** While Team RWBY and Qrow are angry at Ozpin, they don't take that anger out on Oscar, for in the grand scheme of things, he's as much a victim as the others.

** While Team RWBY and Qrow have all the right to be angry with Ozpin, they can't focus on it for too long lest their emotions attract the Grimm, doubly so with the fact the Grimm are attracted by the Relic of Knowledge, something pointed out by Maria when telling everyone to keep moving.
** Plenty at the meeting of Salem's enforcers:
*** Salem does not tolerate failure, and as such will punish people appropriately for failure. So she does not take kindly to Hazel trying to shoulder the blame for Haven on himself, so when he does so, she punishes him for not being truthful.
*** Emerald may have UndyingLoyalty towards Cinder, but when [[TheDreaded Salem]] demands to hear from her who lead to the failure at Haven, not even that will stop Emerald from admitting to it being Cinder's fault.
*** Even if Cinder is a valuable tool by being the Fall Maiden, her actions still caused the failure at Haven, and her behavior proved detrimental to their plans. Salem, who doesn't tolerate failure, and can tell that said behavior could be detrimental to future plans, therefore will not accept her back until she proves herself useful again.
*** A single failure does not halt their plans, so despite the loss at Haven, Salem is already prepared to target Shade Academy in Vacuo for the Relic of Destruction next.
*** Having suffered under an AbusiveParent before, Mercury is aware of the signs and is the first to notice when Salem is about to have a VillainousBreakdown, and the first to leave when she tells everyone too.
*** Atlas' lockdown has made it unreachable to Salem's faction, meaning if Team RWBY, Qrow, and Ozpin manage to bring the Relic of Knowledge to Atlas, it will be out of their reach for the time being, something Watts starts to point out before noticing Salem's coming VillainousBreakdown.

* BerserkButton:
** Salem's hatred for Ozpin is so deep that the mere mention of his name is enough to stoke her rage. When Hazel mentions that Ozpin has resurfaced and is leading Team RWBY to Atlas with the Relic of Knowledge in tow, Salem's fury becomes so great that the windows begin to crack with her rage. She harshly orders the group to leave and takes a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself before letting out a primal scream of rage that shatters all the windows in the room.
** Emerald immediately draws her weapons on Tyrian when the latter brings up and laughs at Cinder's supposed demise.

** While Ozma and Salem's past was tragic, it doesn't excuse Ozpin for constantly keeping secrets from everyone, nor does it excuse the fact he's been leading people in thinking Salem could be stopped when he is just [[IndyPloy making things up as he goes]]. Team RWBY and Qrow are justifiably angry at him for lying to everyone and leading them on, and are completely [[BrokenPedestal disillusioned with him]].

** Salem's cronies flee the room when she learns that Ozpin was involved in the Haven situation.

* BerserkButton: Salem does not take kindly to finding out about Ozpin's reincarnation.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After the reveals and being attacked, Ozpin is quite rattled by everything and decides to disappear elsewhere. Not even Oscar, the person he shares a body with, knows what he's up to now.

* TalkToTheFist: Qrow punching Oscar in the face after everything was revealed.
* TranquilFury: Salem can terrify her subordinates with the thought of her rage while sounding completely calm.

* BrokenBird: No pun intended, but Qrow solidifies himself as this here. The man he put his faith in, who made him feel like he was worth something when everyone else decried him as cursed and unwanted, has proven to have no plan beyond an IndyPloy and has led countless people to a seemingly meaningless death. Now all Qrow can do is drown his sorrows and protect his nieces. Meanwhile, Ozpin himself thinks that Qrow has a point when he says that meeting him was the worst mistake of his life.

* BrokenBird: No pun intended, but Qrow solidifies himself as this here. The man he put his faith in, who made him feel like he was worth something when everyone else decried him as cursed and unwanted, has proven to have no plan beyond an IndyPloy and has led countless people to a seemingly meaningless death. Now all Qrow can do is drown his sorrows and protect his nieces.

* TheBusCameBack: After being reduced to a name-drop for an entire season, Tyrian makes his first appearance since Volume 4 after losing his tail and enduring Salem's disappointment.

* BrutalHonesty: Oscar is horrified when he realizes that he'll simply be subsumed into Ozpin's consciousness. Ruby tries to comfort him by saying he's his own person, but Qrow swiftly rebukes her.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After the reveals and being attacked, Ozpin is quite rattled by everything and decides to disappear elsewhere.

* YouHaveFailedMe: Salem decides to leave Cinder in exile despite knowing of her survival until she "redeems" herself. She also comes within a hairs-breadth of killing Hazel for trying to shoulder the blame.
