Team RWBY rally around Yang when Ironwood tells her she's been disqualified then Qrow and Yang discuss Yang's mother. Jaune and Pyrrha have a heart-to-heart which distresses Pyrrha due to her confusion about Ozpin's offer. The next fight is confirmed to be Penny versus Pyrrha while Ruby finds herself confronting Mercury, who is supposed to be on his way back to Haven.

* OneDialogueTwoConversations: Jaune and Pyrrha. The former doesn't know what's really troubling Pyrrha and tries reassuring her that no matter what, she will fulfill her destiny (as a Huntress). Pyrrha misinterprets it as Jaune telling her to sacrifice her own happiness and identity to become the Fall maiden.

The episode begins with the rest of team RWBY reaffirming that they believe Yang wouldn't do something like break Mercury's leg on purpose, but due to the circumstances Ironwood tells Yang she is disqualified. Qrow and Yang have a conversation about the match and Yang's mother Raven, and Jaune and Pyrrha have a heart to heart about how they believe in one another. Unfortunately Pyrrha runs off quickly when the conversation gets too close to the issue of her becoming the Fall Maiden. The episode ends with Penny and Pyrrha set to be in the next match and Ruby being confronted by Mercury even though she heard his team was sent back to Haven.

* WhatTheHellDad: Yang is understandably upset that her mother, who is revealed to be alive and active, has never spoken to her once in all these years. She's also somewhat upset that Qrow knew the truth all along and tried to hide it from her.
