* BothSidesHaveAPoint: The conflict between Ash and Bayleef starts because the newly evolved Pokemon tackles Ash with such excitement, he gets angry with her and tells her to [[ExactWords go away and STAY away]]. She does just that, and when Ash does find her, she refuses to have anything to do with him until he puts in a great deal of effort to save her and several other Pokemon from Team Rocket. Ash himself was certainly being thoughtless and hurt Bayleef's feelings pretty badly, and he definitely went too far with what he said, hence his efforts to try and remedy things with her. However, while he did go too far with his frustrations, he certainly had every right to be upset at Bayleef hurting him (even if she wasn't doing it intentionally), since her tackle attacks could have seriously hurt him. Though she is right to be mad as Ash for what he said, Bayleef does acknowledge that she acted just as insensitive to Ash's feelings as he did to hers, and adjusts her affectionate gestures to not be so harmful to him.
* DoesNotKnowHerOwnStrength: Bayleef's main issue in this episode. When she tries to hug Ash just as she did when she was a Chikorita, she nearly crushes him in the process, eventually making him snap at her.
