The next day, Spike goes to Carousel Boutique, which explodes outward with dresses. Rarity has been up all night under the spell's influence, creating more dresses. She intends to use the Inspiration Manifestation to beautify Ponyville, but refuses to let anyone know she's the one responsible while making Spike promise not to tell. Rarity constantly badgers Spike for compliments, and Spike constantly heaps praise on her redesigns, despite being apprehensive about their changes, with Owlowiscious watching over Spike with a stern glare. As her changes increase in scale, Spike realizes he needs to stop her, though he fears it'll mean the end of his friendship with her.

Back at the library, Spike writes in the Mane Six's journal that a true friend won't be angry if you tell them the truth, because they know you care about them. Twilight enters, visibly frazzled, having had to clean up all of the dark magic Rarity was using. She scolds Spike for taking a book from the old castle's library... to which Spike replies that Twilight looks awful.

The Ponyville Foal and Filly Fair is almost underway, with Rarity making a puppet stand for it, with Spike helping her. However, despite the elaborate appearance, the puppeteer finds it unusable, which leads Rarity to run off, upset, fainting on her couch. Heading to the Castle of the Two Sisters, Spike enters the library with Owlowiscious to try and find an inspiration spell. He tugs on a book while looking, opening a secret passage, revealing an ominous-looking book that claims to give an inspiration manifestation. He brings it to Rarity in Carousel Boutique, who begins to read it, which says that the caster's thoughts will take form, and that only true words can break the spell. Upon reading it, Rarity's horn and eyes begin to glow an ominous green, turning various things around her into much fancier, more elaborate versions of themselves. Rarity and Spike track down the puppeteer, showing him a much better version of a puppet theater, which he accepts. Spike attempts to return the book, but Rarity decides to keep it, citing using it for her talent.

The next day, Spike goes to Carousel Boutique, which explodes outward with dresses. Rarity has been up all night under the spells influence, creating more dresses. She intends to use the Inspiration Manifestation to beautify Ponyville, while telling Spike to let her keep the book a while longer. She turns Applejack's cart into a more elaborate cart, and decides to start changing things without asking, or telling anypony, or caring what they think. Rarity constantly badgers Spike for compliments, and Spike constantly heaps praise on her redesigns, despite being apprehensive about their changes, with Owlowiscious watching over Spike with a stern glare. Rarity eventually gives Spike a set of cumbersome diamond armor before running off, intent on changing all of Ponyville to suit her artistic talent. Spike laments that he realizes, only now, that he has to stop telling Rarity how great everything Rarity's doing is, though he fears it'll mean the end of his friendship with her.

Spike intends to take the book from Rarity, who has been turning the streets and rooftops to gold. Though he manages to get the book back and even swallow it, the spell isn't broken. Rarity intends to go all across Equestria with her spells, but Spike finally refuses, saying that Rarity has been changing things without making them better, and he should have told her sooner. This is what finally breaks the Inspiration Manifestation, and Rarity returns to normal. Spike apologizes for not telling the truth sooner, to which Rarity replies that he should never be afraid to tell her the truth, because they're friends.
