About ignoring them, not this if explain why they don't.

* StoneWall: Defensively, Mirror Sombra is practically a OneManArmy, which is why the Mirror Sisters have previously been unable to make much headway against him. Offensively... not so much, which is why he can't JustEatGilligan against them.

Added DiffLines:

* OnceMoreWithClarity: Retrospection part in the first issue culminates with a scene where Celestia -- without Star Swirls' knowledge -- goes on a trip through the portal, something that she apparently has been doing for quite a while. When her mentor finds this out, he gets livid and after inquiring the princess on why she did that, closes the portal down. Reasons why Celestia went behind Star Swirl's back and what did she do to get him so riled up are left vague (though heavily implied). In issue three, that scene is shown again from Celestia's point of view and it turns out that she's been visiting alternate King Sombra whom [[StarCrossedLovers she's fallen in love with]], thus ignoring the fact such frequent travels between two universes disrupt the balance between them. The day Star Swirl found this out, she and Sombra were on another date, visiting the garden of wishes where they both made a mutual promise (and a wish) that they'll remain together forever. [[MoodWhiplash Then Celestia returned to her home dimension and faced very angry Star Swirl...]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When usually carefree and eccentric Star Swirl suddenly gets ''absolutely furious'' at Celestia, you know that the latter did something very, very wrong.

[[AC:Short #17: How Star Swirl Got His Hat]]
--> Written and drawn by Katie Cook
We are shown how Star Swirl got his hat - sans bells - by a series of random events, starting with the original milliner throwing the hat out because it was a terrible hat.

* CreatorCameo: Katie and Andy's pony characters appear in one panel. Another panel [[https://twitter.com/katiecandraw/status/447381353542455296 features]] Katie's two children (as ponies), and her husband Ryan (still as a donkey, from the first issue).
* MonochromePast: This comic is all black line art, as it presumably takes place before the flashback events in issue #17.
* RandomEventsPlot: The hat goes through a number of situations created by happenstance before it falls into Star Swirl's hooves.
* ShapedLikeItself: In Star Swirl's words: ''This is the hattiest hat to ever hat"

[[AC:Short #18: How Star Swirl Got His Hat... the other story]]
--> Written and drawn by Katie Cook

We are shown another version of Star Swirl getting his hat, as Star Swirl searches the ocean for a powerful hat, and finds it in the belly of a whale.

* MonochromePast: This comic is all black line art, also like the first story.

[[AC:Short #19: How Star Swirl Got His Hat... yet another version of the same story]]
--> Written and drawn by Katie Cook

Yet another version of how Star Swirl got his hat, this based on following in the merch of the "Wilhelm the Wacky Wizard" doll he loved as a foal.

* ArtShift: Most of the story is in the MonochromePast black line art of the first two Star Swirl stories, but the final two panels featuring the Mirrorverse Mane 6 is in full color.
* MirrorUniverse: The short takes place by the alternate Mane 6, which has been hinted at by the main story for the Reflections arc. Notable differences here include that Twilight's cutie mark is one that looks like an atom rather than magic (and she remains a unicorn), Pinkie has long, straight hair and is happily enjoying a healthy salad, AJ wears a black hat and bandana, and Rarity has a huge curly perm instead of her normal trim curls.
* SelfDeprecation: The book that Twilight is reading appears to be authored by "Katie Cook". Real-life Katie has been humorously vocal about the various levels of fan mail she has gotten when she had broken people's headcanon with how she develops back stories, as happens here.

[[AC:Short #20: Elsewhere in alternate Equestria...]]
--> Written and drawn by Katie Cook

The mirrorverse Mane 6 feel the results of Sombra absorbing the evil energy in his universe, which results in them acting like the Prime-Equestria Mane 6.

* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: The Mirror Mane Six have committed forgery, smuggling, and a large number of FelonyMisdemeanor crimes.
* BeardOfEvil: Mirror Tank has a mustache and a goatee.
* FelonyMisdemeanor: Save for smuggling and forgery, these make up the LongList of the Mirrorverse Mane Six's crimes.
* LampshadeHanging: Mirror Pinkie lampshades how they didn't show up in the main story.
* LongList: The WantedPoster in the corner has one of the Mirror Mane Six's crimes, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking serious and not]] [[FelonyMisdemeanor so serious]].
* WantedPoster: We get to see the Mirror Mane Six's in the corner, giving a LongList of their crimes.

* SuperOCD: Starswirl seems to have had shades of this.
-->'''Twilight''': I don't understand why Princess Luna thought finding things down here was complicated. Everything is so well labeled! It's like...\\
'''Fluttershy''': ...Like you built it?\\
'''Twilight''': Well, yes!
** Twilight sees Good Sombra's wall of details distinguishing the two universes, and is on the verge of a MadnessMakeover to document it all.

* OffModel: For some reason, this arc had Spike being drawn much fatter, almost two heads taller and unlike his TV counterpart, having long, phrensile feet. At one point he is even described as chubby, showing that this was apparently intentional.
