* CallBack: Chloe brings up the time Lucifer [[Recap/Lucifer2016S02E14CandyMorningstar disappeared and came back married]].

* NotSoDifferent: Eve and Amenadiel. Both rejected Heaven to come back down to Earth and start a new life.

* AndThenWhat: Amenadiel poses this question to Eve, who clearly hasn't thought things through in regards to her decision to come back down to Earth, especially what happens if her time with Lucifer comes to an end. Eve's answer (that if she can't get back into Heaven she and Lucifer will just keep the party going in Hell) does not reassure Amenadiel.
* AxCrazy: Marco holds a bar fall of people hostage, shoots Lucifer and gets pissed off at a slightly wrong food order, all to get in touch with his ex-wife, whom he was going to murder.

* ChekhovsGun: Chloe knows where the breach will happen and carefully maneuvers Amy to be in the blast radius and concussed by the entrance of police officers.
* TheChessmaster: Amy, Marco's ex-wife. She masterminded the bank robbery years ago and got off scot-free. That is until Marco forced her hand so that she had to show up but even then she manages to take out Marco by appealing to his emotions.
* CoolCar: The first murder victim is an antique car collector owing several pricey pieces. Lampshaded when Chloe complains that they could have just carried out the investigation in Lucifer's Corvette like they usually do. Corvettes may be a 'cool car' by Chloe's standards but Lucifer states that Corvettes are two-a-penny for car collectors; he's therefore forced to break out his far more impressive red Aston Martin if she wants her plan to work.

* DramaticIrony: Ella's CrisisOfFaith finally causes her to come to the conclusion that God doesn't exist. Of course, the very premise of this show already disproves her HeelRealization. Especially when two other humans have had the opposite realization and Ella was actually [[PalsWithJesus pals with Azrael]] for most of her childhood.

* HowWeGotHere: The episode starts with Lucifer drinking something while spitting up blood, Ella and Eve kissing and Chloe looking at a sandwich muttering "This is the answer". It then cuts to 36 hours earlier.

* PublicSecretMessage: Dan sends Chloe a message about where and when SWAT will breach via the sandwich the hostage taker requests. He sends the man a southwestern-style sandwich to warn Chloe the breach will happen on the southwestern-side of Lux and in about 10 minutes, if Dan is following protocol about when to breach after the food is delivered.
* SkewedPriorities: Subverted. Ella seems like she's got this as she's busy fangirling over the victim's car but she quickly gets herself back on task and informs Chloe of the murder.

* TakingTheBullet: Chloe jumps on top of a prone and semi-conscious Lucifer when it looks like the [[MonsteroftheWeek Villain of The Week]] is going to set off the bomb, intending to shield him from the blast with her own body.

* BirdsOfAFeather: The {{Adorkable}} Eve and Ella immediately hit it off, [[CuddleBug with hugs no less]].
