* KarmaHoudini:
** {{Subverted|Trope}}. Judge Gallagher manages to worm his way into a favourable plea deal that means he doesn't have to serve a single day in prison, which the SVU predict will allow him to further his re-election campaign by presenting himself as a victim of the system, only for the judge to throw out the agreement and send him to prison anyway. While he can appeal the sentence, it's enough to destroy his political career and see him disbarred.
** Played straight, though, with the rapist whose conviction Gallagher reverses at the beginning of the episode. Although Gallagher's disbarment does mean all the verdicts he reversed are up for review, so it's not impossible the decision could have been overturned on appeal.

* RippedFromTheHeadlines: When Judge Gallagher gets caught on tape ranting that women want to be raped his attorney dismisses it as "mens' room talk", a reference to Donald Trump's "locker room talk" scandal.

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: In addition to being corrupt and a rapist, Judge Gallagher is also elitist, homophobic, and so racist that he's even prejudiced against Italians (a specific type of racism that largely faded away among White Anglo-Saxon Protestants in America decades ago).

* CorruptPolitician: Judge Gallagher is this, having used Carisi's trial in the opening to casually dismiss rape charges on a rapist who also has his own share of victims as well.
