Harry uses the Invisibility Cloak to overhear him discussing Sirius' situation with Dumbledore; the headmaster mentions that Sirius will likely get a trial, but Snape anticipates that the Malfoys will ensure he dies before being freed, so that Narcissa can inherit the Black family wealth. Harry doesn't tell his friends, since Snape could find out and punish Harry's eavesdropping, but he does contact Rita Skeeter to present his side of Sirius' story.
