Just as calmly, Ed reminds Frank that he was fired from Mohican for four months, and the buyout package only covers the most recent period of continuous employment, which for Frank amounts to six months. Ed even offers to personally pay Frank's severance from his wallet, after asking Frank if he has change for a fifty. Frank realizes that his gambit has failed, and humiliated, agrees to an unpaid training session in Alaquippa procedure.
