Spirou and Fantasio had to create a diversion for the triangle back to Europe, while Itoh Kata was himself on his way with the "Kuko Jomon" mushroom. Once both are secured in Champignac, the Count and Itoh manage to make the cheapest car fuel out of the kuko jomon, for Noémie (an old car). All it needs to react and work is a sugar lump. Once again, the triangle tries to put their hands on Noémie. This story is followed by a short one, '' Faux départ'' ("False start").
