* AnAesop:
** If you get seriously injured doing something you weren't supposed to do, it's better to tell someone right away even if you risk getting in trouble, because your health is much more important.
** If you discover someone's hiding something that will get them in trouble, you should handle it responsibly and confront them directly instead of taking advantage of them while they're vulnerable.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Walter and Audrey. When Drake finally confesses about he got hurt driving the dune buggy, they show more concern that he is hurt rather than he disobeyed them. Then when they learn that Josh found out about it, and still made his father wrestle Drake, therefore worsening his injuries, they get understandably mad at him for it. However, when Drake convinces them not them to be to hard on Josh, as well as taking responsibility for breaking the TV and convincing Josh to lie about it, they do ground him, but it’s mostly him staying in bed and allow his injuries to heal, while Josh has to take care of him, most likely for making Walter wrestle Drake despite knowing he was injured.

* BadLiar: Drake tells Josh to lie to their parents about the broken TV, a prospect which makes Josh uncomfortable. When it happens, Josh is barely able to not look suspicious and upon being called out, immediately blubbers out the whole truth, which gets him grounded not for the TV [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome but for lying to Audrey]].

Character reactions and doesn't provide a Bait And Switch. There's a very likely possibility he couldn't have been injured.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** When Audrey and Walter find out Drake and Josh got the dune buggy fixed and want to take it out for a spin, they forbid them from doing so pointing out that they're too young, don't have drivers' licenses, and that the buggy itself probably isn't street legal. When Josh asks why they let them fix it if they can't drive it, they admit they didn't think the two would actually get it running.
** Drake decides to ignore his parents and take the dune buggy out for a spin anyway... and almost ''immediately'' ends up getting into a serious accident that leaves him bruised and sprained, and totals the buggy.
** When Josh is caught trying to lie his way out of Audrey finding out that he accidentally broke the TV, Audrey makes it clear to him that she's a lot more upset about him lying to her than the actual TV.
** When Drake comes clean about the dune buggy accident, they are more concerned that Drake is injured so badly than the fact he disobeyed them like any responsible parent would be. As for Josh who is uninjured, they're enraged with him for both not telling them Drake was injured and worsening Drake's injuries by having Walter wrestle Drake resulting in him getting punished too.

After Drake and Josh fix up an old dune buggy, their parents forbid them from driving in it. But when Drake secretly takes it out for a spin and injures himself, he tries to keep his injuries a secret to stay out of trouble.

!!This episode contains tropes of:
* AnAesop:
** If you end up getting injured doing something you weren't supposed to do, it's better to tell someone right away even if you risk getting in trouble, because your health is much more important.
** If you discover someone's hiding an injury that will get them in trouble, you should handle it responsibly instead of taking advantage of their hidden pain.
* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: A big part of the episode revolves around Josh's frustration that he always gets in trouble for little things while Drake somehow always escapes getting blamed for anything. Even at the end of the episode when Drake is forced to admit that he disobeyed orders and had an accident while taking the dune buggy out for a drive, he points out to Josh that he gets to sit in bed all day while Josh is the one who's made to bring stuff to him as punishment for making his dad attack Drake after finding out he was injured.
* LaserGuidedKarma:
** Drake was told not to take the dune buggy out because he can't drive. He does so anyway and ends up getting in a serious accident. He's eventually coerced to come clean about it because of his injuries, which probably got ''worse'' because of his attempts to hide them.
** However, Josh also gets hit with some because he found out about Drake's pain and goaded his dad into wrestling Josh just to get back at him. When their parents find out he did this knowing Drake was hurt, he ends up getting in trouble for it.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** When Audrey and Walter find out Drake and Josh got the dune buggy fixed and want to take it out for a spin, they forbid them from doing so pointing out that they're too young, don't have street licenses, and that it's probably not street legal. When Drake asks they they let them fix it if they can't drive it, they admit they didn't think the two would actually get it running.
** Drake decides to ignore his parents and take the dune buggy out for a spin anyway... and ends up getting into a serious accident that leaves him with sprained joints and totals the buggy.
** When Josh is caught trying to lie his way out of Audrey finding out that he accidentally broke the TV, Audrey makes it clear to him that she's a lot more upset about him lying to her than the actual TV.
* {{Unishment}}: Drake finally gets busted after telling the truth about his dune buggy accident. His punishment? Sitting in bed for several days being allowed to stay home from school, and having Josh bring food to him.
--> '''Drake:''' Yeah, being grounded is baaaad!
