Their appearance doesn't change bar having IcyBlueEyes and UndeathlyPallor and they do seemingly recognize people close to them (as shown when both Aoi and Shiori recognize Ruli when brainwashed), but they're hard-wired to be devoted to Witchmon's cause and can use her attacks.
