* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: {{Averted|Trope}} for once. Wheeler is the only one who distrusts Baron Giftus, and Gi scolds him for it. * BecauseYouCanCope: Although Gi, Kwame, and Linka know what Wheeler is in for trouble thanks to Plunder's latest scheme, they focus on finding Ma-Ti instead. As Kwame says, Wheeler is probably fine for the moment, despite being trapped under a dome, whereas they don't know where Ma-Ti is or what happened to him.

'''Gi:''' Wheeler, don't be such a cynic.\\

* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Plunder's disguise, which fools everyone else, is no match for Ma-Ti's Heart power. After hearing Giftus use his name, he becomes suspicious and, one application of his power later, knows who's under the beard and other makeup without having to unmask Plunder physically.

When a man called Baron Giftus announces that he's arranging an agreement for him to take care of the world's forests, Wheeler is skeptical, but the other Planeteers are pleased; Ma-Ti even goes to offer him a gift as a token of his people's appreciation. However, while there, he finds out that Baron Giftus is actually Looten Plunder, who plans to cover the forests up and sell the oxygen they produce to the world's cities.
!!This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
* AccidentalHero: Downplayed; Wheeler ventures into the air outtake hose to escape from the dome and find some way to stop Plunder, using a ball contraption put together by Ma-Ti's people to avoid being shaken to pieces in the process. The ball bounces out as Bleak is cornering the other Planeteers and hits him.
* ChekhovsGun: The beginning of the episode has Ma-Ti's tribesmen showing Wheeler how they tap sap from trees and turn it into rubber. The rubber turns out to be instrumental in forming a "vehicle" to keep Wheeler in one piece while he deals with the high winds in the outgoing air tunnel. Shortly after his arrival, [[ChekhovsBoomerang Captain Planet uses the rubber to tie up Plunder, Bleak, and the two other lackeys.]]
* EvilLaugh: Plunder does quite a bit of cackling while gloating about his success.
* INeverToldYouMyName: Ma-Ti becomes suspicious of Baron Giftus (actually Looten Plunder in disguise) when the latter addresses him by name despite their never having met before.
* LamePunReaction: At the end of the episode, Wheeler quips that Plunder's scheme was "domed to failure." The others are quite vocal about considering it an especially bad pun; Gi even holds her nose.
* LosingAShoeInTheStruggle: Wheeler gets his foot stuck between two rocks as Plunder's lackeys prepare to drop a dome on the area and cuts through his shoelaces with his ring's powers to free himself. Thankfully, the villagers have a replacement pair of shoes for him not long afterwards.
* MeaningfulEcho: Suspicious of Giftus' motives for making the arrangement, Wheeler offers to stay in the Amazon to look after Ma-Ti's tribe while the others take him to greet the man. The shaman, brushing off the slight, tells Wheeler that they'll look after him too. As he prepares to venture into the outgoing air tunnel to get help, Wheeler thanks the tribesmen who accompanied him for looking out for him.
* ProperlyParanoid: Wheeler seems to have no particular reason to assume that Giftus isn't on the up and up, and Gi chastises him for being so cynical. Even [[AllLovingHero Ma-Ti]] ultimately has to admit that Wheeler was right.
* PunnyName: Looten Plunder, who's incognito while trying to get control over the planet's forests, creates a punny name as an alias: Baron Giftus (as in "beware of Greeks bearing gifts").
* RecognizableBySound: As the other Planeteers are being backed towards an air hose by Bleak, they hear yelling from the opening, which they quickly recognize as Wheeler.
* TooGoodToBeTrue: Wheeler wonders aloud what Giftus' plans to get from the arrangement when the team sees the announcement on the television. Gi and Ma-Ti think he's just being suspicious, but it turns out that Baron Giftus is an alias used by Looten Plunder in the latest of his schemes.
