* AmbiguousSituation: The Cult of the Word in the Echoes and Ahti both say the film was made before Tom the Poet, but when Zane sends Alan to the theater where the film is playing he implies that the movie is actually the one he created as a collaboration with "Return" to get out of the Dark Place. The movie also parallels the plot of the rest of the game as well as previous drafts of the story like the trailer in Quantum Break, like [[spoiler:Casey's death in the latter, and being possessed by Scratch in the former, effectively being replaced by him the way Zane/Alan in Yötön Yö traps Casey in the Writer's Room to escape and be reunited with Barbara.]] Then again, reframing a newly made film as a lost classic would hardly be the most unusual thing, given the nature of the Dark Place.

!!Tropes featured in this short film found in VideoGame/AlanWakeII:
* ContinuityNod: During Part 4 of the film, the Janitor mistakes the Detective as working for the FBC, and remarks that he may want a job there - which nods to the fact that Ahti acts as a janitor in the Oldest House during the events of Control.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: In Part 7 of the film, the Detective notes "It's not a loop, it's a spiral" - [[spoiler:words that Alan himself will remark at the end of the game.]]
* SnuffFilm: The film is claimed to be one of these, with the ritualistic murder that happens during Part 6 being said to be a real murder.
