* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Machana takes on three forms throughout the episode - a crocodile-headed human, a skull-headed spider and a griffin. It's revealed at the end that these are mechanical bodies piloted by the ''real'' Machana, who's a tiny bug.

Chasing Amin Damoola through the streets of Agrabah leads to Genie getting covered in guava juice - which genies are allergic to! The resulting magical cold causes disaster every time Genie sneezes, so Aladdin, Abu and Iago must find the Orb of Machana in order to cure him.

** How Aladdin manages to beat the first of the three trials, which is to "stick out your tongue and touch your forehead". The guardian apparently meant "touch your forehead ''with'' your tongue", but failed to specify, so Aladdin uses his index finger instead.
* FacePalm: The guardian of the Orb of Machana does this after Aladdin successfully sticks his tongue out and touches his forehead (with one finger).

* IllnessBlanket: genie ends up wearing one of these while sick.

* NotRareOverThere: After Aladdin completes the trials, the guardian of the Orb of Machana goes to a chamber and retrieves it... from among thousands of identical orbs. The guardian complains that at this rate he'll never be able to get rid of them all.

** When the group arrive at the cavern where the cure they're looking for is, a guard tells them that they must face three trials. The first is to "stick out your tongue and touch your forehead." Aladdin (after a lengthy discussion about how the test seemed rather lackluster compared to the danger he was expecting) sticks out his tongue and touches his forehead... with his index finger. The guard, who apparently meant "touch your forehead ''with your tongue''" but failed to specify, [[FacePalm facepalms]] but admits that Aladdin passed the trial.

* DerailedTrainOfThought: Iago starts to explain how he knows about the Orb of Machina, but gets sidetracked by his reminiscence of the clam chowder he was eating before Aladdin interrupts.

* FootBathTreatment: At one point, Genie is seen with his feet in one of these
* GreenAroundTheGills: Genie's normally light blue skin turns a shade of pale green to denote his illness.

* NoSympathy: Iago isn't sympathetic to Genie's ilness and accuses him of fishing for sympathy.

* Retcon: Of a sort. Iago reveals that Jafar and he used to scour the globe in search of magical artefacts, which is how Iago knows about the Orb of Machina. Presumably, this all happened before the events of the first film.

* TimeDissonance: Genie condifently admits that genie colds last a century or two at most, twenty-four years at best. When Aladdin and Jasmine are shocked by this, he asks if a hundred years is supposed to be a ''long'' time for humans.

* PowerIncontinence: When genies get colds, they can't control their powers. Thus, every time Genie sneezes, it causes things to appear or change at random, which threatens to get worse the longer the cold goes.
* SayingTooMuch: Iago casually mentions the Orb of Machana without thinking, and when everyone else takes notice he panics and tries to cover himself. He quickly changes his mind, however, when Aladdin threatens him with a Genie sneeze.
