He's never seen again. Most other characters simply disappear without mention when their actors die or leave the show, with the exception of Compo, who gets three episodes devoted to his death and funeral.

** Barry Evans as Michael Upton, the original central character, was obliged to leave the franchise after ''Doctor at Large'' due to personal problems affecting his reliability; Upton was said to have proposed to a notoriously loose-moralled nurse in a drunken haze, and run off to join the Merchant Navy when he realised what he had done. He continued to be mentioned through the other series in the franchise.

** The original [=LeClerc=] visited his brother in prison and switched places with him because he preferred the food there to the café's.

** Axe Woves the male Mandalorian introduced in Chapter 11: “The Heiress" alongside Bo-Katan Kryze and Koska Reeves, notably doesn’t return like his female companions for the finale, but instead in Chapter 22. According to Katee Sackhoff, Woves died in the original script for Chapter 11, but by the time he was SparedByTheCut, they couldn't come up with another explanation for his subsequent absence until writing Season 3.

There’s some rumours that he will return in a SpinOff, while others believe he was cut in order to have the AmazonBrigade sequence with Bo-Katan, Koska, Cara Dune and Fennick Shand.
** Grogu aka The Child gets on a X-Wing ride with Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 after saying goodbye to Din Djarin aka Mando. [[spoiler:Grogu is seen later in ''Series/TheBookOfBobaFett'' training in the Force with Luke, he chooses to return to Mando by the end though.]]

* Requisite ''Series/TheXFiles'' example: Creator/DavidDuchovny decided to leave after its seventh season. Like Creator/GillianAnderson's pregnancy six years before, this decision changed the entire future of the show: Mulder went on the run, Agents Doggett and Reyes joined the cast, and Mulder and Scully finally get their happy ending (until the movie six years later, when they're both dragged out of hiding to help the [=FBI=], which Scully really doesn't want to do...)

* Dr. Crusher from ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration'' pulls an offscreen stint at Starfleet Medical for Season 2, [[ReplacementScrappy Dr. Pulaski]] filled her position during that time.

* ''Series/{{CSINY}}'' did it three times. First, Mac fired Aiden for considering planting evidence, but then her storyline ended in a combo of BusCrash and StuffedInTheFridge. Mac's ex girlfriend Peyton left suddenly with only a [[DearJohnLetter note]] to Mac, then TheBusCameBack for one episode. Stella left for the New Orleans crime lab between seasons 6 and 7.

*** They also did this with Gibbs: As his character bit on the NCIS TvTropes pages says: In season 19, now unsure what he wants in his life, Gibbs decides to leave NCIS to travel the world in search of adventure. The last time we see him, Gibbs is in Alaska, with no indications of if/when he's coming back.
