The family gets into their spacesuits and get on the rocket in about ten minutes, seemingly without any training. The family then fly in the rocket to Mars, arriving in all but thirty seconds, while in reality it would take at least six months to get there. There, the family jumps right off the rocket and float around with no preparations. Caillou and Rosie then proceed to float straight to the sun in fifteen seconds, despite the sun being 142 million miles (228 million km) from Mars. Caillou and Rosie float within ten feet of the sun and suffer no burns, lacerations, or injuries of any kind, when in reality coming within just half a mile of the sun means instant death. Rosie pushes Caillou into the sun, and Caillou simply lays on top it, bursting into a tiny flame. The sun is a huge ball of gas, and even if Caillou somehow managed to not be vaporized right away, he would pass through the gases and be burned to death within a few seconds. Boris and Doris then come over to ground Rosie, and they don't burn either.

* ProtagonistCenteredMorality: In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd82jI4IaGw this video]], Azul, a blue train from ''Dora the Explorer'' challenges [[WesternAnimation/ThomasTheTankEngine Gordon]] to a race. During the race, Dora sends Boots to stand in the tracks in Gordon's way so Azul can pull ahead, and this is treated as Azul and company cheating. Once Gordon is able to move again, Thomas and the others send James to sit in Azul's way so Azul can't move either, just as Boots was doing, only this time, this is treated as fair and acceptable, and no one questions the actions of the tank engines as Gordon scores his victory.

** Not to be outdone, there are many "evil" versions of baby show characters that are either there because the creator really hates the "good" version of the character so that they have a good character for the troublemaker to mess with or if they like the "good" character, they just use it because they are running out of characters to ground. The most popular ones are Evil Pingu and Evil Strawberry Shortcake. Surprisingly the more popular grounding victims rarely get "evil versions" mainly because people tend to make videos of the popular characters for entertainment while more minor ones like Pingu and Strawberry Shortcake [[BecauseISaidSo for spite against the show.]]

** Those who watched many grounded videos who end up watching older videos made with [=GoAnimate=] will wonder why ''WesternAnimation/{{Underdog}}'' and B-movie monsters are featured alongside the standard Comedy World-created characters and wonder what ''Super Rica and Rashy'' even is.

* ParentExMachina: Most parents in the Grounded videos are this, often only showing up out of nowhere to punish and ground the main character of the video once they step out of line if they weren't already present.

* SadistShow: The grounded videos. They apparently take place in a CrapsackWorld where one little slip will get you grounded, arrested, or even executed/murdered whether you deserve it or not. It doesn't help that in some videos, people seem to take glee in dishing out the punishments on the grounding victims, and will even celebrate their getting grounded/arrested/killed. Woe betide you if you're a "baby show" character, too, as everyone in the world (including your own family) will hate your guts and will gladly inform you of this fact, show NoSympathy when you get yourself in trouble (even if you just badly injured yourself), and will gladly punish you in severe ways if you even just step ''slightly'' out of line. The level of sadistic-ness in the videos tend to fluctuate, with some users' grounded videos being more silly than cruel, while some other users' videos have characters (especially "baby show" characters) getting grounded or arrested for simply existing.

** Pretty much any non-human character from ''WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer''. Even [[WesternAnimation/GoDiegoGo Diego]] hasn't been seen in very many videos. This is possibly [[JustifiedTrope justified]], in that Boots and the others are not human, and non-humans are pretty difficult to translate into any of [=GoAnimate=] or Vyond's former themes. Meanwhile, Dora (being much more well-known and popular -- and thus more hated) tends to be far more of a target than Diego, making Diego Gets Grounded videos less widespread (Though that doesn't really explain Diego's absence in the many videos involving his cousin outside of the odd few).

On May 6, 2018, the website was rebranded to Vyond and confirmed the obvious, saying the Flash themes would be done after the 2018-19 school year and ending further sign-ups to the Schools version of the site. Pricing for using the site is now much higher, likely meant for small companies and large corporations. This seemed like the final blow to [=GoAnimate=]'s unusual fandom... but enterprising users have already found ways to get the old themes to work in the apparently [=HTML5=]-exclusive Vyond. Simply put, it doesn't look like they're going anywhere any time soon.

** Characters can do whatever they want regardless if it's unlawful or has gotten someone grounded/arrested in the past as long as they are using it against the troublemaker.
** WrongfulAccusationInsurance is in full effect whenever someone gets someone else sent to jail; the wrongfully accused character will almost always break out of prison to blow the whistle on the actual trouble-maker without having to face consequences for breaking out of jail and anything else they might have done.

* MoralMyopia: Most videos tend to treat the morality of a character's actions by whether they are a troublemaker or not. A character considered a trouble-maker may do one certain action and get grounded for it, only for a non-troublemaker to do the same exact thing and without the action portrayed as wrong, if they aren't outright rewarded for it. This can lead to some ''huge'' cases of MoralDissonance when this isn't PlayedForLaughs.

[=GoAnimate=]/Vyond would probably just be your standard run-of-the-mill video-making website if it wasn't for a series of videos that sent the website and video maker into infamy - the "X Gets Grounded" videos. Primarily made by young kids, these videos detail the misadventures of various characters as they cause or get themselves into trouble in all manner of ways, followed by them getting busted and [[YouAreGrounded grounded]] ([[OverlyLongGag grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded]]) by their parents for absurd lengths of time. These videos are especially known for the trouble-making kids usually being characters from [[PeripheryHatedom TV shows aimed at preschoolers]], such as ''WesternAnimation/{{Caillou}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer''.

** Evil/Red/Teeth Boris, a rude and psychopathic red duplicate/transformation of Boris with a ''huge'' mouth that somehow manages to be worse than Boris himself.

* ParrotExposition: Some "(Character) Misbehaves at (Place)" videos can become tedious to watch as the characters will recap the naughty character's actions at least once or twice as they drive home from the damaged establishment, and more times if the video includes a news report on the trouble-maker throwing a fit, engaging their parent, and wrecking the place.

** [=YouTube=] user Creator/Wileyk209zback is fond of doing these kinds of videos, often making fun of the "Grounding" videos by making it so Boris is mentally unbalanced and has an unhealthy obsession with grounding people, and tries to pin it on Caillou [[BrattyHalfPint being an obnoxious brat]], but most of the time RealityEnsues, and Doris confronts Boris and tells him to stop grounding Caillou [[DisproportionateRestitution for every little thing he does]], and may even [[DomesticAbuse fight with him over it]]. It even goes so far they go to court over it!

* RealityEnsues: One of the most popular ways of deconstructing the Grounded videos is to show the parent characters' [[AbusiveParents questionable disciplinary methods]] coming back to bite them in the ass when the trouble-maker exposes their abusive ways in some way to one or many people. These videos usually end with the parent characters being arrested and the trouble-making kids [[EarnYourHappyEnding earning their happy ending]].

** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWDYMvrsB9o This video]] deconstructs the MoralDissonance and ProtagonistCenteredMorality that Caillou's parents (as well as other [[AbusiveParents parent characters]] as well) exemplify in many grounded videos when Caillou decides to blow the whistle on them via a talk show. [[RealityEnsues Reality hits Boris and Doris like a load of bricks]], when it's concluded that the reason Caillou misbehaves so much is the direct result of his parent's abuse. Boris and Doris hated him from the day he was born and took to treating him horribly, thus making them responsible for the way Caillou turned out in the first place. [[spoiler: No. There's no AssPull leading to Caillou [[StatusQuoIsGod still getting grounded]] occurs. Ultimately, Boris and Doris are arrested for child abuse and Caillou and Rosie go to a foster family.]]

* JokerJury: Boris attempts to use this against his family in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq4wzY4ga9U&nohtml5=False this video]], only to end up failing as Boris is ultimately arrested.
* KangarooCourt: Subverted in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq4wzY4ga9U&nohtml5=False this video]], in which Boris accuses the court of being this trope, but it actually turns out to be a positive outcome for Caillou, as RealityEnsues big time for Boris and he is declared mentally insane for having a "grounding fetish", all while Boris attempts to paint Caillou as the most obnoxious brat in history, and as the only sane person in his family, even going as far as to try and ground the courtroom when the sentencing is handed down.

* MadeOfIron: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eRp_zbFWoc This character]] who apparently ''[[OffWithHisHead gets his head knocked off by a flying school desk]]'' and survives with only his vocal cords not working right.

* HumiliationConga: "That's it! Today is Punishment Day!" videos.

* VacationEpisode:
** A great many videos involve families taking vacations only for that one kid to cause some sort of ruckus that gets them grounded and often ends the vacation early.
** A frequent trend in these types of videos is a troublemaker taking a trip to a Great Wolf Lodge with either their family or a friend's family. Upon getting there, the troublemaker maims or even kills people, scares everyone out of the water, and eventually burns the property down after attacking a skeeball machine.

* KidsAreCruel: Certainly an aspect of many of the Grounded videos as the kid-types will pull dangerous or even deadly pranks (or sometimes, not even needing to be pranks and just be malicious) ForTheEvulz.

** Justice in the world of the grounded videos is usually rendered by very partial judges and a JokerJury who shrug off the defendant's side of the story (and sometimes consists of the troublemaker's family and friends, who are biased against them anyway) and give them cruel and unusual punishments, even for small fine-earning offenses such as littering. Often though, [=GoAnimate=] justice never gets to the courtroom as the patrolman (usually rendered as ill-tempered with fire coming out of his head) will render a life prison sentence for the accused right on the scene. Trillion-dollar fines the size of the national debt of several G8 nations combined are also assessed to parents, and they will be executed if payment is not immediately given.
** Can also apply that in the world of grounded videos, the justice system doesn't even bother with doing anything with offenders. Where most of the illegal activities troublemakers get into would assure them juvenile detention (this isn't even considering any murders in the videos), cops will just give the child back to the parents and merely demand they give the child a long grounding period and allow any corporal punishment without law enforcement action they desire. Also because of the continuing loop nature of grounding videos, children can go back to school and rack up multiple expulsions (a usually permanent end to a child's education given '''once''') because actually enforcing them would mean a user would have to change their character sets with each new video.
* KarmaHoudini: Non-troublemaking characters seem to get a free pass on tormenting the troublemakers or using any means necessary to bust them. Especially in the case of Caillou's Dad/Boris who is often portrayed as an AxCrazy sociopath but never gets in trouble, even when he clearly deserves to be punished more than Caillou does.

** A common theme in the {{Deconstruction}} videos (and some standard grounded videos when a non-ironic member of the fanbase [[ThrowTheDogABone decides to cut a trouble-maker a break]]) is the bad habits of the parent characters and other characters (''especially'' the aforementioned and widely disliked Boris) coming back to haunt them. The usual way of this occurring is the grounded kid [[TheDogBitesBack deciding they've had enough and fighting back]] against their AbusiveParents, either by grounding them or giving them a Punishment Day and then getting them arrested. Boris is usually shown to not take this happening to him very well and sometimes may undergo a VillainousBreakdown, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq4wzY4ga9U such as here]] .

* ArtShift: Insomuch as it can apply to here, some users have gradually been making an effort to make Dora look more like how she does in her home TV show over time.

* ArtisticLicenseBiology: Some videos have characters having inexplicable (if outright nonsensical) side effects from some injuries they get, such as needing an oxygen mask (or being unable to speak) for a year when they only broke their leg, or lifetime oxygen tanks and paralysis from a stink bomb. Even if you needed an oxygen mask from breaking your leg or taking in the scent of a prank-strength consumer stink bomb, you probably wouldn't need one for ''that'' long. See also MadeOfPlasticine below.

** This trope tends to go hand-in-hand with KarmaHoudini as Character A may get in trouble for something they did, but if a Character B did something even worse, they get away scot-free. This is particularly shown in the videos where someone goes to jail - the character goes to jail will easily break out and call out the real guilty party, but they won't get in trouble for escaping jail.
** In the "Pours Rat Poison on the School Lunch" videos, the troublemaker of the video is forced to eat the leftover of the school lunch they tainted with rat poison, with the ultimatum of getting grounded even longer if they refuse to do so. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_vpodzdqWo For example, Dora's karma is being filmed eating the school lunch she tainted with rat poison.]]

* MadeOfIron: Many times characters will survive injuries that by all means should have crippled them or even killed them, such as being knocked off a very tall building, hit by a strong tornado, or getting hit by a flying school desk. Even if a character does wind up getting killed, their body almost always remains intact even if it was a fire or explosion that did them in.
* MadeOfPlasticine: On the other hand, sometimes characters will wind up severely injured, crippled, or killed from normally non-life/health-threatening injuries, even from such innocuous injuries as being punched in the face or getting gassed by a stink bomb.
* MagicPlasticSurgery: A recurring element of the Grounded videos. Some videos have characters going to the hospital to get plastic surgery, or characters being punished by being forced to have plastic surgery. The changes can range anywhere from getting a different face and/or hairstyle, [[GenderBender changing genders]], changing character themes, changing from a kid to an adult (or vice versa), or just outright being turned into a completely different character altogether. Sometimes these videos are used to explain sudden changes in character designs.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Characters may often be injured severely and then speak in a completely deadpan voice.
* MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext: Doesn't even ''begin'' to describe the various goings-on that occur in the grounded videos.
* {{Malaproper}}: Quite often. Many of the Dora "Grounded" videos seem to have the parents claiming she is grounded for "tranquility".

** The rants made with [=GoAnimate=] or Vyond always start with the user calling the subject of the rant a derogatory name in the form of: "(Subject), more like (Derogatory Name of Subject)".
** Within the "Grounded" videos, this is one method of getting grounded in some videos. The trouble-maker either calls someone or changes the name of something to something derogatory, which leads to [[YouAreGrounded a grounding]].
** The speech-to-text voices' infamous way of pronouncing Caillou's name becomes a form of this in some videos, where Boris knows how to pronounce Caillou's name, but will often switch when he realizes he's "on camera" and call him "Kaylew" or "K-I-U" on purpose knowing how terrible it makes his son feel.
* {{Manchild}}: Sometimes ''adult'' characters or celebrities are seen throwing tantrums and getting grounded by their parents.

* AdultsAreUseless: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4waRyuE8I64 This Macusoper video]] features Macusoper getting his homework stolen by another student and getting in trouble for it. [[CassandraTruth Despite Macusoper's insistence to]] [[AuthorAvatar his teacher]] [[CassandraTruth and later the principal that Jake stole his homework]] (and that Jake is lying when [[BitchInSheepsClothing Jake]] says that the book he has is his own book), the teacher and principal (as well as other students in the classroom, including Jake) simply brush these claims off and accuse Macusoper of [[NeverMyFault trying to pass the blame onto Jake]] instead of admitting that he lost his homework; all without ever trying to investigate whether Macusoper's claims are true. (And leading to Macusoper getting a punishment he arguably didn't deserve.)

Babies, newborn or not, are very fragile, so in reality Rosie probably would have been killed had she been thrown against the ceiling and onto the floor like Caillou does to her.

All this does is get Boris to realize Caillou's lost it and goes to get [=2x4s=] so he can put Caillou in isolation.

** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kctmJdwNFoo In this video]] where [[GenderBender Caillou turns himself into a woman]], Boris tries hitting on him (he didn't know at the time that it's his own son he's flirting with), and when Caillou tells him the truth, Boris is disgusted at the idea of [[ParentalIncest incest with his son.]]

* ExactWords: In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_-qDJI0A4E Shaggy retakes his drivers test]], Shaggy is told that, to regain his driver's license, he must drive and not damage a pack of Twinkies. Despite doing extremely irresponsible things, like jumping a drawbridge, he makes sure that the Twinkies aren't damaged and he passes.
