* ''VideoGame/FZeroX'' has Black Shadow, and [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast just from the name,]] it's easy to tell that he isn't a good guy. His design is like if ''Franchise/Batman's'' costume was inspired by bulls, but It's even darker, making his morality pretty obvious.

** He uses PlayingWithFire magic, which is considered inherently opposed to the Erdtree (since it is a tree after all), and the Golden Order has waged a war of ''genocide'' on the setting's othe pyromancers, the Fire Giants, for the sheer threat their flame posed. And the [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver unique look of his flames]] calls to mind the [[BloodMagic Aberrant sorceries]].
** He has a two-headed snake with dragon wings wrapped around his body. Not only is this generally a sign of villainy, but the lore of the Duelists also says that snakes were considered "traitors to the Erdtree" (hence why gladiators wore snake armor; they were heels in the arena and the audience liked seeing snakes get beat up), and the only other noticeably snake-associated character is Rykard, above.
** His one good eye is bright yellow with a slitted pupil- which looks remarkably like the yellow eyes the player gets if they partake in Dragon Communion (eating dragon hearts to gain spells). While to the player it's just another source of incantations, in lore it's a terrible act that causes one to become consumed with bloodlust and eventually transformed into the draconic parodies known as Magma Wyrms.
** His epithet is '[[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast the Impaler]]', which isn't something one gets called by being nice. The audience will also immediately recognize it as belonging to a [[UsefulNotes/VladTheImpaler certain Wallachian nobleman]] infamous for bloodthirstiness and terror tactics.

*** And to top it all off, his line in the trailer suggests he's racist against Tarnished.

** Seluvis is a {{Jerkass}} to everyone except people who share his magical interests; to those who ''do'', he's quite happy to talk about his field of magic involving enslaving living people to his will as his puppets, and it's heavily implied that yes, he ''does'' take sexual advantage of them. His questline even ends with him trying to puppet-ify his liege lady, Ranni (who sees right through him and murders him the instant she doesn't need him any more).

** The DLC trailer shows a new demigod, Messmer the Impaler, whose design, even in what little we see of him, is essentially a checklist of things that are considered Very Bad News both in general and in Elden Ring's specific lore:
