* Brigit Stark truly is a disturbing parent. One of the most disturbing things about her is how [[{{Mundanger}} mundane]] she is. In a world as fantastic as ''{{WebAnimation/RWBY}}'' with Grimm beasts and megalomaniacs, she is nothing more than a greedy, opportunistic sociopath who exploits everyone around her without remorse while staying beneath suspicion. It says a lot about her when you can have [[OmnicidalManiac Salem]] and [[AxCrazy Tyrian]] in the same story and she still comes out to be the most disturbing of the villains.
** For starters, when six-year-old Cinder catches her complaining about having another kid and planning to drive her father to suicide, she outright chokes her and threatens to make her life a living Hell if she says anything. Even creepier is the way she [[FauxAffablyEvil fakes a motherly tone while threatening Cinder]] after tucking her in for bed.
** All she says after driving her husband to suicide for money is to say “[[LackOfEmpathy Good riddance]].”
** She starts starving Cinder and beating her with belts while screaming at her for minor slights. We see this in action near the end of chapter one when Brigit beats her for trying to get a glass of water without permission and raising her voice at Brigit in justifiable anger.
* Cinder’s retaliation can only be described as a CruelAndUnusualDeath. While Bright is an AssholeVictim, imagine it from her perspective. She is first knocked out by Cinder but then wakes up handcuffed to the stairs. Then, Cinder throws a fire Dust crystal to burn the mansion with her inside. And finally, Cinder leaves the key just outside of her reach, giving her a hopeless chance of escape. And it’s the first time Brigit feels true fear when she knows she doesn’t have control over a situation. No matter how deserving she is of this fate, it still horrific.
** What is also notable is how calmly Cinder dismisses it. She is already becoming the ruthless villain she is on the show.
* Before this happens, Cinder stabs her sister in the throat. Her DissonantSerenity and justification for it, as well as her dismissal of it, really show the first signs of the sociopath that she’ll become.
* Cinder being abducted by bandits. She was attacked in the woods and for all she knew, she was about to become some man’s SexSlave.
* Cinder killing Grayson so ruthlessly even after she gave her a place to stay and food to eat. She's already so willing to turn her back on people in the most gruesome ways possible.
* After that, she calmly walks out in the middle of an Ursa attack. The attack itself describes all of the carnage that they commit, leaving dead bodies and destruction everywhere. And Salem is the only reason Cinder wasn't a part of it.

* Marcus Black is a truly awful parent. And he’s the source of most of the nightmare fuel in this story.
** He was a psychopath long before he ever became an assassin. He worked [[SociopathicSoldier in the Atlas military just to kill people]] and was discharged after an assault on Vacuo. He basically picked his profession to commit government-sanctioned murder.
** His abuse of both Mercury and Melanie is terrible. He goes on a hit and drags Mercury along. When Melanie just wants them to stay for dinner, he slams her face into the fridge, leaving blood on it.
** During this hit, he holds the target’s daughter hostage while he forces Mercury to shoot him in front of her. Despite Mercury’s protests, Marcus insists on him killing the father first.
* Melanie doesn’t slack off in this respect either. She straight-up threatens Marcus at gunpoint just to get him to come upstairs for dinner. She even threatens to kill his target who she knows he’s getting paid extra to torture. It shows another disturbing thing about Melanie. Even though she knows about her husband, she doesn’t even care about his victims in the slightest.
* There's also the victim's perspective in all of this. She's being taken by a crazed assassin preparing to torture her and his son only stands by and helps. Melanie comes downstairs to stop them, but only so they can come up an eat dinner. Nothing more than a HopeSpot for her and she has to stay in that basement waiting for Marcus to finally come back down and get to business.
* If you had any doubts about Melanie's [[TheSociopath sociopathy]], she simply eats dinner while listening to Marcus torture a young woman. Even though she's being abused by Marcus, she's still so [[LackOfEmpathy heartless]] that she won't even be bothered to stop him from hurting other people.
* The ending fight with Mercury and Marcus has its fair share of scary stuff. For one, it shows how truly AxCrazy the latter is.
** There’s the moment where Marcus is viciously beating his son on the table while attempting to kill him.
** When Mercury thinks he left Marcus to burn in the house, his father comes out behind him and attacks him with a pipe out of nowhere. And he comes back in full force.
** The way that Marcus comes straight for Mercury to kill him while Mercury's kneecaps are blown out and he his helpless to stop it is surly menacing.
** Marcus's death, while brief, is described by him choking on his own blood after Mercury shoots him in the neck. He definitely deserved it, but it was quite a cruel end.
* In the end, Mercury is left without a home, without legs, and fatally bleeding out. Even he noted he wouldn't make it far. Had it not been for Cinder and Emerald showing up, it wouldn't have been long before he died without any hope of rescue.

* Kincaid is absolutely ruthless. When Cordovan gets abducted, she threatens to torture him for not paying tariffs. She drags out the torture first by cutting him with her nail. He then burns him with a curling iron.
* When Reed is found out for trying to kill Kincaid, she walks towards him and threatens to kill his family (including his young children) and Roman says that every word of her threat is dripping with malice. And she outright [[SlashedThroat slits his throat]] in front of everyone and simply goes on casually like nothing happened. It really shows the nature of the organized crime business when that can be [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight brushed off as business as usual]].
* Even worse, the description of her killing the family while carving a GlasgowGrin on each member’s face and setting them up in poses for a family photo.
* Neo is [[PintSizedPowerhouse a tiny woman]], but she is able to maim and kill a group of men effortlessly. Stacy and Dwight are appropriately horrified as she starts going full-on AxCrazy and stabbing people [[ForTheEvulz for fun]]. While the ending of that scene is played for BlackComedy, it’s still disturbing how little restraint Neo has when allowed to cut loose.
* Roman gets abducted and finds out that Neo was also captured. And the person who abducts him and is nigh-unbeatable companion? None other than Kincaid...
* ...and she isn't happy in the slightest about Roman taking her business. She captures Chloe and torture's her by putting her feet in a bucket of water with lightning Dust, intending for her to die from electrocution.
* Kincaid later implies that she’ll take Roman back as her worker, but the SleepingWithTheBoss thing is [[SexualExtortion "non-negotiable"]].
* Her VillainousBreakdown makes her look even worse than when she was in control. She viciously attacks Neo without restraint as all her [[FauxAffablyEvil charm]] is replaced with nothing but anger. She even picks up Neo by the throat and tosses her into rubble. Just after, she shoots Dwight in a fit of rage for getting in the way of killing Roman. And he takes her time beating him half to death with his own cane.
* Neo gets another major moment of [[AxCrazy Ax-Craziness]] when she kills Kincaid. First by [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice impaling her with her sword]], then [[TheresNoKillLikeOverkill stabbing her repeatedly in the chest]]. Roman even has to calm her down.
