* Before he was reborn into the new world, it's pretty clear that Cid, originally Minoru Kagenou, was downright insane. But his death is what seals the deal. Yes, he died because he got hit by a truck but prior to that, he has spent an entire night or even longer than that, banging his head against a tree. The only thing he could think about after that is that he thought he found [[HopeSpot magic]] but we, the readers all know what that really was. The real reason why Minoru acts like that is because he is suffering brain damage and it made him ''EVEN MORE INSANE''. He didn't die by accident, he died because his delusions and trauma overrode his natural instinct to survive.

* ''Eminence in Shadow'' doesn't suger coat how much of a CrapsackWorld the world of magic is. Bandits and monsters are common across the country, massive corruption in high societal/royalty standings, and lynching of children.

* The Order of Diabolos are the main antagonists of the series and they have done every evil deed that could make a super villain proud. They are playing with dark forces to satisfy their own greed. They even callously experimented on the children who are descendants of the heroes that destroyed their god and they have been doing this for about a thousand years.

* The Curse. It causes the body to slowly rot until they are pretty much a living corpse.
** Before even that happens, the victims had to go through what is truly Hell. Everyone they knew and love turn against them, not only being exiled from home but also being hunted down like a sick animal.
** And to those that were captured. They are sent off to a secret cult, who are the very reason these girls are persecuted in the first place, and be killed or experimented upon. Take a look what happened to Emilia (Read Chapter 5 of the Manga to find out and it isn't pretty) and to think, Alpha could have been one of the cult's next victims if Cid hadn't come and saved her.

* Shadow's FinishingMove "'''I... AM... ATOMIC'''" is basically a nuke; just without the fear of radiation poisoning. Still, the effects by this attack are devastating. Any poor Diabolos Cult schmuck that gets in its way are vaporized, no body is found because they are blown to really tiny bits.
** Episode 20 of the anime shows the terrifying range of the attack. Unlike the one in Episode 5 which only take out an entire block, this one shows that it can span to the '''ENTIRE''' kingdom. Even worse that it's implied that's not even the limit.
