* Around to mid-game, you may start getting a "militia" unit pop in called "Mad Dark Fleet Remnants". That's nothing unusual, militias pop in all the time. What is unusual is that it's one ship and it only pops in around stars. The ship? '''''A Vorastra Titan.''''' it's level appropriate, mind you, and has no tech upgrades so even a fully upgraded Starbase can take it on, but the implications are disturbing. The Titans are the strongest ships that the factions have and the Vasari ships have 130,000 crew, refugees, and colonists. One, how many of that compliment is still alive? Two, what drove the crew insane that they attack everyone and everything to the death regardless of whether or not they are outmatched instead of going back the way they came? Three, what lays low ''a titan''? The lack of tech upgrades implies that the ship is heavily damaged and running out of resources. For a major faction, the Mad Titan is relatively easy to take down, but imagine you are a minor faction, a trade or refinery vessel, or a small refugee or colonist fleet and you come across this thing. Worse still, by late game, level 10 versions of the thing shows up. These are incredibly experienced crews that highly customized their ship ''and they still lost to whatever is chasing the Vasari''. No wonder these guys have been running for 10,000 years.
