Added DiffLines:

* FalseReassurance: In the early days of MG#4, Atom was convinced that this was the case, saying that the "comfort" of putting four relative unknown groups together in order to polish their talent was just a fancy way of throwing a couple of under performing groups together and throwing them out once they inevitably fail. The Director insists that she's sincere, but under the conditions they were put under, it certainly looked like Atom was correct.

* BrutalHonesty: the Director doesn't mince words with them in the beginning. She tells the boys straightforwardly that their individual gimmicks aren't working, but that they'd have a shot if they could work with someone else. It hurts them to agree, even though they all want to do their own thing.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: In the beginning, MG#4 was just three unsuccessful units that couldn't raise enough buzz on their own. Their personalities also tended to clash a lot because of their different life experiences. It would take working together for a little more than a month before they got anywhere near the dynamic they had after 2013 [=UniverseFES=].

* ArcSymbol: Pythagoras Productions as a whole has space. Many of the songs contain astral themes, MG#4 is conceptualized around stars and galaxies, plenty of the [[ThemeNaming names]] are related to astronomy, and the company's previous huge success story, Starmate, was also astronomically based.

Eventually, the boys got an animated adaptation by Creator/JCStaff, titled ''Marginal #4 KISS Kara Tsuku Kara Big Bang''. Instead of focusing on idol work like the main series would, this one is primarily a High school comedy following the lives of the unit. The other Pythagoras Production idols and their higher ups make cameos in this series as well. The anime adaptation aired for 12 episodes as part of the Winter2017Anime season, starting from January 12.

* AnotherStoryForAnotherTime: Apparently, the narration mentions that the ''Romeo and Juliet'' play Rui was a part of was a huge success, and was one of the funniest and most memorable highlights of the whole festival. Cue this trope.
* BusmansHoliday: Kira and Shy take a day off of work in order to visit [=Magi4=] at their school festival and have a little fun. However, everywhere they come into contact with them they end up doing idol-like activities anyway, such as hosting for the school cafe or doing a makeshift concert to fill in the time while the school play props need fixing.
* CandidCameraPrank: It turns out the plot of Episode 3 was largely this, played on R. By the end of it though, the Marginal boys decide to do one better and spook the cameramen after R was too afraid of the official prank.

** Just like in the regular 'verse, L's obsession with marimo extends to using them as god luck charms as well.
* IndirectKiss: Teruma worries about having to do this with Atom as he's preparing to kiss the Pythagoras statue. Apparently, this attitude is holding him back, as Atom would have kissed it without a second thought if Teruma had went first.
* LoveConfession: As the final part (and the [[GoldenSnitch most important]]) of the friendly competition Unicorn Jr. And Marginal #4 have, Atom challenges Teruma to confess to and kiss a statue of Pythagoras. We even get scenes of what their scenarios should look like, but dear old Pythagoras stays the same throughout it all.
* NeedleInAStackOfNeedles: After Rui's favorite childhood toy exploded in popularity, the company that makes it sent a huge shipment of the toys to Pythagoras Productions in thanks. Unfortunately, all of the dolls spilled on the ground, including Rui's. You'd think it'd be pretty hard to find, especially with how well Rui's own doll is kept... but [[SubvertedTrope Rui just walks up to his beloved toy]] and dusts it off.
* NewTransferStudent: Double subverted. Atom sees a blue-haired boy on the way to school, and assumes that Rui will join their class as this. It isn't Rui... but then, it turns out that Rui already transferred to their school, and just didn't tell them.
* OverlyLongGag: The poor Unicorn Jr. boys kept going into the wrong rooms for their dramatic entrance and rival declaration to Marginal #4, to the point where when they ''finally'' get to the boys' club room, they're barely even able to finish the speech because they're so out of breath.
* RunningGag: For the sake of a joke, the transfer student is usually placed in random places, especially if someone is looking for Rui and runs into him instead.
* SliceOfLife: The feel of the show is less "idols and their business" and leans more towards a day to day high-school comedy. That's not to say that the idol activities are non-existent.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Marginal #4 and their RainbowMotif hair colors.
