That line isn\'t accurate, she has shown cleavage multiple times, not that it\'s very important

* GirlinessUpgrade: Janelle is pushing the limits of her black and white aesthetic. She often wears more traditionally feminine clothing, always in black and white, and changed her once nude lipstick color to a bright red.

* Stripperiffic: Averted, which is uncommon for R&B singers. She has yet to even show cleavage.

to:

* TheStoic: She certainly comes across as so in interviews, but during performances she is far more upbeat, and has at least twice been moved to tears on camera.

Added DiffLines:

* TheMovieBuff: Janelle has an extensive knowledge of cinema, as shown in "Tightrope" which references Meshes of the Afternoon, and "Q.U.E.E.N", which references Qui êtes vous, Polly Magoo ?.

Added DiffLines:

* RagsToRiches: This is noteworthy as Janelle Monae makes a point to use this part of her story to inspire both her fans and her aesthetic: her mother was a janitor, her father was a garbage truck driver who struggled with drug addiction, and while producing her first album, she worked as a maid. Today, she is about as famous as one can be while preserving their artistic integrity.

http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/rnb-sensation-janelle-mone-is-here-because-we-need-her-6418158.html \"It\'s her loyalty to a shirt and trousers that led many to assume that she is a lesbian. She responded: \"I only date androids\" (referring to her EP and album, which together tell the story of her android alter-ego Cindy Mayweather, liberator of the android race). \"That\'s great, they can claim me as well as the straight community, as well as androids,\" she says. \"I speak about androids because I think the android represents the new \'other\'. You can compare it to being a lesbian or being a gay man or being a black woman ... What I want is for people who feel oppressed or feel like the \'other\' to connect with the music and to feel like, \'She represents who I am\'.\" It\'s for this reason that she won\'t make any definitive declaration just now about her sexuality or her relationships. \"In due time, when I\'m ready to have a family and be out in the public with my family,\" she promises. \"As for now, my music, my performance, my voice, my message and what I\'m representing as a young African-American woman is what\'s most important.\" Part of that, of course, is demonstrated through her choice of clothes.

Added DiffLines:

* AmbiguouslyGay: Monáe's sexuality has been speculated upon, due in part to her Bifauxnen fashion sense. She has stated that she will publicly state her sexuality "in due time", for the moment offering that she "only dates androids"...where "android" stands in for the various oppressed minorities like gays and blacks.

Janelle Monáe Robinson, also known as Janelle Monáe, was born on December 1, 1985 in KansasCity, Kansas. As a child, she has always dreamed of being a performer on the stage. She left Kansas for New York to study theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. At first, Janelle aimed to become a performer on Broadway, but she changed her mind and went to music instead. She felt that music has the power to change the world. Later on, Janelle Monáe moved to Atlanta, GA, where she met Big Boi from Outkast and founded the Wondaland Arts Society. Big Boi introduced Monáe to Sean "P Diddy" Combs which led her to be signed to Bad Boy Records in 2006.

With a few exceptions, Monáe's songs tell the story of the futuristic dystopia of Metropolis and Cindi Mayweather, a popular musician android and prototype for the equally popular, mass-produced Alpha Platinum 3000 droid model, who falls in love with a human named Anthony Greendown and finds a bounty placed on her head as a result.
