When Pinocchio is freed by the Blue Fairy, the Emperor manipulates Pinocchio and his friends into entering his domain. The Emperor uses Geppetto as his hostage, in order to coerce Pinocchio into signing away his freedom willingly, so that the Blue Fairy cannot save him. Pinocchio submits as long as his friends and father go free, until the Emperor orders Puppetino to take them all into the dungeon anyway. Once Pinocchio fights back, [[BadBoss the Emperor smites Puppetino]] for his cowardice, and threatens to harm Geppetto if Pinocchio does not obey.

Capturing and imprisoning the flame-powered Burnish, Kray has them painfully drained of life to power a warp drive for his spaceship to migrate 10,000 humans of his choosing to another planet, intending to leave the rest of humanity to perish on the dying Earth while countless Burnish die thanks to his cruelty. Revealed to have murdered his former partner to take credit for his inventions, Kray cares nothing at learning that his torture of the Burnish is expediting the Earth's destruction as long as he gets to play the role of mankind's hero. After that, Kan brings a statue of the Jaguar to life--in the process sacrificing his loyal servant--that destroys half the city. When this fails to kill Tulio and Miguel, Tzekel-Kan attempts to set a genocidal UsefulNotes/HernanCortez on his own people. Fanatical and sadistic, Tzekel-Kan embodies every negative stereotype Europeans had about the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica.

When Briareos reveals to the Regular Army that the Elders were using them for their own genocidal means, Hades tries to kill him and Deunan over General Uranus's objections. Grimmel briefly allies with the would-be warlord Eir Stormheart, provided her dozens of dragons to [[PlayingWithSyringes experiment on]] and bind to armor that [[AndIMustScream kept them in states of constant agony and insanity]], before backstabbing her and absconding with her research to create dragon shock soldiers of his own.
