** In the very beginning of the series, Zatch gets brutally beat up by the school bully, Kane, and it's only due to Kiyo using Zaker (or in the anime's case, the Hyde and Eido blowing him away with their spell, Jiker) that he's able to be defeated. It would quickly be established how Zatch, along with most Mamodo, are far stronger than the average human even without spells, and would have no trouble dealing with an ordinary human like Kane.

* PaperThinDisguise: Kanchome's attempt to shapeshift himself into Kiyomaru couldn't be any more obvious that he's a fake due to his exaggeratingly long nose and his acting way out of character, yet Zatch and Suzy were completely fooled.

* PaperThinDisguise: Kanchome's attempt to shapeshift himself into Kiyomaru couldn't be any more obvious that he's a fake due to his exaggeratingly long nose and his acting way out of character, yet Zatch and Suzy were completely fooled. It had to take Kiyomaru breaking free and appearing next to his impostor for them to finally notice, but still Kiyomaru had to practically spell it out that Kanchome's an impostor.
--->'''Kiyomaru:''' Can it be any more obvious that he's a fake!? NOSE! HIS NOSE! LOOK AT HIS NOSE!
--->'''Zatch and Suzy:''' ''({{Beat}})'' ............ OH!
--->'''Kiyomaru:''' WHAT DO YOU MEAN "OH!" !?

* SmokeShield: * Being a shonen about demon children (called Mamodo) fighting with magic powers, this comes up often. One example is during Riya's fight with Zaruchim in the anime. In the manga they're backed up by Ponygon and Fango respectively. Towards the end of the fight a situation occurs where the hero side is able to knock the villain side down. Riya's book owner Aleshie then casts Riya's strongest spell Shao Neodoruk and appears to have won for the good guys as the giant deer spell tackles Fango and Zaruchim (just Zaruchim in the anime). When the smoke clears, Zaruchim is completely unharmed and he smugly reveals to his allies that he blocked Riya's strongest attack with Fango's body (manga) or a clone made from Faudo's power (anime) and heartlessly discards it as both disappear (in the manga the attack was strong enough to burn Fango's spellbook).

Gag Boobs has been renamed to Boob Based Gag. Changing to the proper trope where appropriate and cutting misuse.

* GagBoobs: Big Boing/[[{{Bowdlerize}} Lady Susan]] IS this trope. And to lesser extend, Wife and Miss Wriggle.
