** Chapter 77 reveals this is a defining trait of all demons. If there is a problem that doesn't personally affect them or someone they already care about and the danger is too high, then they will not get involved. In this specific instance, only Iruma (being a human, and an AllLovingHero with ChronicHeroSyndrome at that) acts to [[spoiler:save some kids trapped in rubble during the Walter Park fight because of the danger of the monster near them and the area might collapse puts off even the staff of the company. Even Azz and Balam don't move until Iruma gets involded]].

* WorkingTheSameCase: Clara is looking for a guy who hasn't retured a game to her Battler, Azz is also looking for a guy who borrowed personality changing chemicals from his Battler. It turns out it's the same guy.

* NothingIsScarier: The only thing we know about Jazz's training is that he is begging to be saved.

** For the First-Year at Bablys the exams are the Flying Test, which sets them on their initial ranking, then Canonball Execution, The Battler Party, First-Term Final Exams, the Harvest Festival, and the Music Festival.

** Demon society is heavily influenced by their ranking system. The ranks ascend from Aleph (1) to Yodh (10)[[note]]The full list is Aleph (1), Bet (2), Gimmel (3), Dalet (4), He (5), Vau (6), Zayin (7), Chet (8), Tet (9), and Yodh (10)[[/note]] and due to this, ascending the ranks is seen as a means to gain prominence. Adolecents typically lack any formal rank until they join a school like Bablys. At Bablys there are several rank evaltuation exams for each year to determine if a demon's rank should rise or fall.

** In an attempt to get [[spoiler:Soi Purson]] to open up to him and eventually the rest of the class, Iruma reads off a list of embarassing secrets the class has learned about [[spoiler:Purson]] in the same way he revealed the embarassing secrets of the class's boys. One of these secrets is that he is unable to skip. [[spoiler:At the end of the arc, when Purson's mom is giving him a pep talk, she mentions the various reasons she loves his dad (who is currently trying to get Purson to drop out of the school festival he's involved in) and one of those reasons is his dad is unable to skip.]]
* CallARabbitASmeerp: Due to the Demon World being completely isolated from the human world for countless generations, and the fact demons overall favor a heavy "evil" aesthetic, there are many mundane objects and activities that wind up getting called something scary and/or overly-dramatic, such as referring to the game of dodgeball as "Cannon Ball Execution".

** Schare Eligos' obsession with Ameri is referenced again in the Harvest Festival arc when he watches Bachiko use the ''Quartz Quartz'' spell to creat a bow out of a physical core. He takes a cute doll and makes a bow with the riser and limbs in the shape of Ameri. He declares this will be his family heirloom. Likewise, Ameri is not amused when she finds this and confiscates it.

* LettingTheAirOutOfTheBand: During the Harvest Festival when Iruma and Lied show up with [[spoiler: The Legendary Leaf]], it is so underwhelming that there is a noticeable ''whoosh'' noise as it focuses on them.

** The steps for finding the Legendary Leaf in the Harvest Festival were made deliberately confusing, convoluted and overall crazy, especially for demons, for the exact purpose of [[spoiler:finding a demon that is almost nothing like any other demon, somebody that is relentlessly determined to accomplish what they desire, selflessly helpful towards others, and capable of taking something absurd and turning it into something fun, as they would make the perfect candidate to succeed the previous Demon King]].

** After the events of the Heartbreaker Competition, Opera joins the teaching staff of Babyls to become a practical magic trainer with another new hire for the Misfit Class. Kalego, knowing what sort of demon Opera can be, ''pities'' them before Opera's first lesson: they must attend a tea party before the tea gets cold. The lavish selection of food is atop a hundreds-foot tall pillar and the Misfits cannot use their familiars, bloodline magic, or wings to ascend. They can only use simple magic or their own bodies.

** Azz, despite being unmatched, doesn't reveal [[spoiler:his true bloodline magic]] in Chapter 240, instead using blue flames.

* SheIsTheKing: While no female demon has been named Demon King, yet, no one implies the title will change if Levi of the Greats or any female member of the Thirteen Crowns ascends one day.

* SomeoneElsesProblem: This is the general state of demons. They will be as caring and protective of their friends and family, but if they don't know someone or have no connection to them, a demon won't make a move to help them.

** Ameri puts her Student Council members, [[spoiler:including Iruma]], through this everyday as a morning exercise. This involves attaching winged ball-and-chains that bite onto the members and if the runner is too slow, the ball will bite them.

* MisplacedVegetation: InUniverse, Iruma accidentally conjures up a massive cherry blossom tree. This is what tips off Ameri to Iruma really being a human since plants like that don't grow in the demon world.
* MistakenIdentity: In chapter 274, Leid is at a Sabbath[[note]]also called a mixer in human dating terms[[/note]] with Jazz when Jazz compliments [[spoiler:the evidol "Lindy." The narration notes that Jazz believes "Lindy" to be Leid's sister who he hadn't seen before. Jazz is ignorant to Lindy being Leid in disguise and that Leid's sister is sitting across from him, who respectively thinks Leid lied about her to get popular]].
* MissedHimByThatMuch: In the Volume 2 extras, Eiko is enjoying watching the flowers bloom and dreams of Iruma being with her. She fails to notice him walking up in cleaning garb and politely takes the garbage away.

** [[spoiler: In chapter 175, After Arikured gives a heartwarming speech to Iruma about how they are bound together, Iruma points out to him he no longer appears to be attached to the ring. He immediately books it out the window, only to be slingshot back into the room.]]

** In the anime Eiko keeps missing her chance to talk to Iruma.

** It is suggested that Kalego put Iruma and Azz on separate teams during the Cannon Ball Execution game to see if Azz would throw the game to help Iruma. Made more explicit in the anime.

* MistakenIdentity: In chapter 274, Leid is at a Sabbath[[note]]also called a mixer in human dating terms[[/note]] with Jazz when Jazz compliments [[spoiler:the evidol "Lindy." The narration notes that Jazz believes "Lindy" to be Leid's sister who he hadn't seen before. Jazz is ignorant to Lindy being Leid in disguise and that Leid's sister is sitting across from him, who respectively thinks Leid lied about to get popular]].

* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The only things every demon have in common are that they can fly with wings, use magic, and have some form of PointyEars, but they can differ in size ranging from the size of action figures to giants, look like anthropomorphic animals, just look plain weird, and then there are the ones who look almost exactly like humans except for their horns and/or tails. Currently the only Demon whose race has been officially stated is Prof Raim being a succubus.

Iruma Suzuki is a sweet, normal boy whose irresponsible parents have led him time and again into life-threatening events. And this time, they've gone and sold his soul to a demon...who wants to adopt him as his grandson and send him off to a school full of demons! Now, Iruma must try to get through school without anyone finding out that he's a human.

* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: While this is exhibited the most in the Valac family, it's eventually revealed that all demons at bare minimum exhibit a {{downplayed|Trope}} case of this. If something doesn't interest them enough to keep focused on it, it will be borderline impossible for them to spend more than a day or two trying before dropping it and doing something else. This combined with the additional inherent LackOfEmpathy also makes trying to perform as a group basically a lost cause. [[spoiler:And so it makes the eleven of the thirteen Misfits doing a coordinated dance routine all the more impressive]].

** On day 1 of the Harvest Festival, Misfit student [[spoiler:Schneider Allocer works with Jazz to get points by disguising himself as a faculty member setting up a fake submission point for people to drop their goods off at]]. On the fourth and final day [[spoiler:after Koko Orobas has stolen the special plant pot needed to grow the legendary leaf from Lied, Allocer sets up another fake submission station and Koko falls for it, giving Allocer back the item, and allowing him to give the pot to Iruma]]. And ''again'' when [[spoiler:it turns out that Orobas collected so many high-value items that not even the Legendary Leaf's massive point value is enough to bring Iruma and Lied to victory. It's pointed out that the pot is still a separate item from the Leaf even if the Leaf was planted in it, and thus has its own value to bring them over the top]].

* MookChivalry: This is a guideline but not a hard rule for the teachers participating in the Heartbreaker Competition. As it is meant to test the Misfits and their Fledgling First Years, [[spoiler:and break the Misfits pride enough so they don't become arrogant, the teachers are encouraged to allow a teacher to handle a team or two on their own. However, when over a dozen students have converged on Momonoki as she guards the vat to release Chair Demon Sullivan and successfully wear her down in a battle of attrition, Professor Buer uses his magic to heal her and recover her to full strength as her current 11-against-1 is hardly fair. He then joins her when Sabnok enters the fray. And hidden in the shadows is Robin waiting to fire his arrows at the opportune moment]].

* OneTrueThreesome: In-universe, Clara declares herself, Iruma, and Azz to be the "Love Trio", openly declaring that she loves Iruma and Azz, and knowing that such feelings are also shared the same way all round by both Azz and Iruma. Iruma has declared his belief that he feels himself, Azz, and Clara are what he can only describe as soulmates. And ever since then Azz has enforced this dynamic by declaring that the position of soulmates for Iruma is reserved solely for himself and Clara.

** The Misfit Class goes through this in preparation for the Harvest Festival. Each seen tutor devises a specific ciriculum for their students which is extremely taxing, demeaning, frustrating, and/or painful. These include forced servitude to either the tutor or a business the tutor owes debts to, trapped in watery prisons, long enduring combat sessions, forced to play all their games and beat them in six days and do so without rest, trapped in cages with summoned beasts to learn to control them, and to constantly draw attention and turn heads towards themselves. By two weeks in, they are exhausted and some terrified of their tutors. And once the students clear the first lesson, the tutor increases the difficulty.

** After Iruma's First Year Battlet Party, Iruma experinces this in both giving to a friend and receiving help from Azz and Clara. He goes to see his first Kuromu concert and gets invited by the staff to greet her in her dressing room. While there, he is InnocentlyInsensitive to Kuromu[=/=]Kerori's desire to stand out by complenting her on staying obscure. This enrages her so much she strains herself magically and passes out. Recognizing he needs to do something to help fix the mess he causes, he brings in Azz and Clara without revealing Kerori's secret to them. They agree to help Iruma quickly. To give Kumoru tome to recover, the three dress up in cute dem-dol outfits and become her opening act, being cute enough to keep the audience entertained until Kumoru can join in later. She is incredibly grateful to Iruma for his kindness as it is a very un-demonlike thing to do.

** The opening for Season 3 has the new characters coming in to tutor the Misfit Class be either shadowed out or outright absent in Episode 1, with Bachiko shooting an arrow into the sky being the only clear shot of any of them. Starting from Episode 2, which comes after all the tutors have been properly introduced, the opening is changed to fully showcase all the tutors, both as a group and facing their respective students.

* The opening for Season 3 Episode 1 has the new characters coming in to tutor the Misfit Class be either shadowed out or outright absent, with Bachiko shooting an arrow into the sky being the only clear shot of any of them. ''Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun'' (original Japanese title: 魔入りました！入間くん, ''Mairimashita! Iruma-kun''), is a weekly shonen manga by Osamu Nishi. It runs in ''[[Magazine/ShonenChampion Weekly Shōnen Champion]]'' magazine published by Akita Shoten, and began its serialization on March 2, 2017.

** During the climax of the Heartbreaker COmpetition when Teams Allocer and Jazz [[spoiler:are rescued by teachers Ipos and Oswell from Atori, Allocer had been protecting four hearts (two for his team and two on Jazz's). However, Oswell only pops three and tells three of them and Allocer to go to the dropout tent. The teachers fail to notice there is one heart and participant missing. Allocer hid her in his pocket keeping her and her balloon safe, allowing Team Jazz to win the competition with Team Asmodeus]].

* FailedASpotCheck: During the flying race in their first year, Azz doesn't notice that Clara was riding on his back since the start until she started talking. Because she refuses to get off him, and Azz takes first, Clara gets second place.

* LongRunner: InUniverse example. In the series, the manga ''[[ShowWithinAShow Hatsukoi Memory]]'' is shown to be ''hundreds'' of volumes long. The bookcase holding volumes seems to be 10ft to 12ft tall[[note]]Ameri is 6'3" and is about half the height of the bookcase[[/note]] and about 7ft wide with seven shelves. Each shelf is filled with volumes of this series.

** Towards the end of the Heartbreaker's arc, the final two teachers to enter the fray are Kalegos and Balam. Iruma is panicking over how to deal with them only for Jazz to point out a very simple way to deal with Kalego: [[spoiler:Summon him. As Iruma's familiar Kalego can not hurt him is obliged to obey him]]. This isn't a perfect solution as Kalego is only restricted from [[spoiler:attacking Iruma while summoned, everyone else is fair game]]. Iruma gets around this by clinging to Kalego so he can't [[spoiler:attack anyone else without also attacking Iruma, and he's forced to concede. He also says he won't help the students, but it takes him out of the battle nevertheless]].
* StatusQuoIsGod: Generally averted, but in regards to [[spoiler:Kalego being Iruma's familiar, a year after the initial contract was made, Kalego makes a very big effort to keep Iruma from renewing the contract as he is required to do to keep Kalego under contract. Iruma largely goes along with this, but many of his classmates plus Opera do their best to force the contract renewal before time is up. At Balam's insistence, Iruma and Kalego have a heart to heart about the matter and Kalego reveals that he in fact has no familiar (Cerberus, which was believed to be a familiar, is actually his bloodline power) which is enough to convince Iruma that he can get by without a familiar as powerful as Kalego, so he lets the contract time out and prepares to summon a new familiar. However, as Iruma is still a human (which means that he summons demons with a summoning contract, not demonic animals, and can resummon the same demon where as a demon would never resummon the same demonic animal) and Kalego doesn't know this and is the closest demon to Iruma during the summoning, Kalego gets contracted as Iruma's familiar for another year to Kalego's despair.]]

* DramaticIrony: A double dose for Jazz and his familiar. Jazz M. Andro familiar is a Split Wolf, a fierce wolf-type creature of incredible power with two snakes as tails. [[spoiler:Because of Jazz's nature affecting his familiar, the familiar is a short, non-combatant fluff ball. However, during a teachers' meeting there are rumors of Jazz using his "ferocious familiar" to exort things from other students, when the familiar is not threatening at all. Jazz is hesistant to even summon it out of some embaressment by it not looking like the adult version. That said, the while Spoo is a friendly-looking familiar, he does have Jazz's thieving skills as he took all of the candy on Iruma when Iruma held him without notice]].

** During Baliard and Levy's first appearances, they are showing off pictures of their grandsons. The photos aren't quite focused on, but you can make out certain details about their appearances. It's not until almost 200 chapters later that the grandsons are properly introduced.
