* AchilesHeel: Mashiro can absorb a lot of damage and even resist mind control but electricity works wonder on her.

* ACupAngst: Asagi said to a girl the reason he comes to Soap Land is because if he doesn't she'll be out of a job, being too flat chested for the other tests. She takes offense to that comment.

* NeverBringAKnifeToAGunfight: Even the students with MadeOfIron powers aren't bulletproof (the toughest,[[soiler:Mashiro]] just shrug off the gaping holes) yet due to Japan's regulation and the secrecy of their operations, katanas are the only thing they can give to them when they go in open warfare. It goes as well as you expect.

* AmericaSavesTheDay: Subverted, Japan has to ask the U.S forces to extract the remaining children in the first arc and they arrived in the nick of time to stop [[spoiler: a berserk Mashiro]] from killing Kuroi and possibly everyone else. Later the Japanese officers explains they had to let the Americans test if the gifted children are under control (which is why they waited for so long before neutralizing [[spoiler:Mashiro]]) and Asagi suspects EngineeredHeroics, since with their equipment not only where they waiting for this but they likely leaked children's positions to the guerilla forces the whole time.

** Telekinesis isn't that flashy compared to air bombs or MindRape but a good user can bring a lot of firepower since they can crush from a distance.

* NoIndoorVoice: Kuroi often slips into this, specially when is something related to [[spoiler:Mashiro]].

* BoisterousWeakling: The average strength of someone with telekinetic powers is to crush an apple from five meters away in ten seconds. Mizukaki, despite constantly going on about how awesome his powers are need three minutes to get an apple to roll over from near point blank range.

* AccidentalAimingSkills: Tokiwa didn't even know he [[spoiler: shot Kikyo in the head]] he is surprised that he is that good with a pistol.

* BewareTheSillyOnes: When Tokiwa is introduced, he appears as a somewhat nervous, humble and a bit silly person. But as more stuff happens, he is increasingly revealed to not only be alarmingly calm with all the violence around him, and his silliness becomes increasingly disturbing. It all comes to a head when he [[spoiler:effortlessly injects Jean with an experimental drug that causes him to go berserk, and later when Kikyo tries to attack him from behind, he casually [[OffhandBackhand shoots her in the head without even looking]]]].

* ButtMonkey: Mizukaki, first his dick get blown off by a sniper and then he gets ragdolled during the Paris mission. On the upside AmusingInjuries are better than all the mangling the other character receives.

* CloudCuckooLander: Asagi due to his power drawback, sometime PlayedForDrama when it contrasts is lucid self.
* CombatSadomasochist: Kuroi, he is already sadistic and pain blurs his mind reading which he finds exciting.

* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: Mashiro, who nearly destroys an entire lane while playing bowling.

* ForgetfulJones: Asagi tends to forget things at a moments notice and sometimes at the worst of moments, made further ironic that his given power is super memory. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] though given his dementia, [[spoiler:and [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructed]] due to the same forgetfulness having caused him to develop a form of misanthropy over how everyone else takes both their lives and memories for granted]].
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Tokiwa, he looks goofy at first but like Kuroi it's because he is a sociopath unfazed by the horror he brings.

* GoodIsNotSoft: Mashiro is the only character with compassion toward everyone but she is still a soldier with super strength who will kill messily her enemies, although she prefers crippling them if possible.
* HearingVoices: One of the ways Kuroi's sensing powers manifest to him is him constantly hearing the voices of everyone around him, Mashiro being the only exception to this. [[spoiler:When the voices end up stopping after loosing an eye to Yanagi, he goes into complete ecstasy over things finally going silent]].
* {{Keet}}: Kuroi is [[EmptyShell cheerful]]! And [[MotorMouth outgoing]]! And he [[StepfordSmiler always]] smiles! [[spoiler:Or at least, he tries to look like this. He's actually very aloof and detached to the point of being nearly emotionless, and only acts like that when he's around Mashiro or when he's manipulating someone.]]
* TheKlutz: Mashiro, whose power is super strength, tries to be dutiful and responsible but also has a lot of DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength moments, which often results in hilarity.

* MadScientist: Tokiwa, he took part in the program to weaponized the children with psychic abilities, found out how he could use it on people of different races, and also invented virus that could clean every Caucasians in Europe in a matter of months.

* MindRape: Kuroi's preferred method with his hypnosis powers is to basically cause his opponents mind to either bend in on itself or cause his victim to commit suicide.

* PhotographicMemory: Asagi, he can even remember subconscious details he picked up which gave him a better foresight than most scanners, he is also a ForgetfulJones because the memories are there but he still blanks out of conversation due to the side effects damaging his brain.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Kuroi used his hypnotism to get whatever he wants including sex, by the time he joined the school though he got bored doing that.

* TheSmartGuy: Asagi often fills the role of the brains of the group, whenever he isn't forgetting things left and right due to dementia.
* SuperSenses: Kuroi's mind reading is actually an uncanny intuition caused by his senses being able to pick up every cues on a person (sweat, gesture, tone of voice, etc.) and it escalate to smelling danger like landmine because it feels like a place someone would trap.
* SuperStrength: Mashiro's power. She can ''blow a sniper's head off'' simply by throwing a rock at them.
* SociopathicHero: Kuroi. He's ''very'' cheerful about stabbing people to death, cutting them until they're bound to die from blood loss, and downright torturing someone by slowly disfiguring them. Mashiro is understandably disturbed.
* StalkerWithACrush: Kuroi is completely obsessed with Mashiro, [[spoiler:her being the only person in the world that he can't read, and she's the reason he enrolled in the Special Abilities Private High School]].

* {{Yandere}}: Do ''not'' show interest in Mashiro. Do ''not'' hurt Mashiro. Hell, don't even ''be'' someone that Mashiro likes because Kuroi, then, ''will'' give you a slow, painful death.

* YourDaysAreNumbered: Asagi has only three years left at best due to his power prematurely aging his brain, he already contracted dementia.

* TroubledSympatheticBigot: Jean, the French leader of the R.A.I.D went along the right wing party's plan of an ethnic cleansing using bioweapon derived from the psychic student. He does it because immigrants are flooding his country and destroying it since his family died in a terrorist attack (the arc was released in 2016)

* ArmchairMilitary: Fitting the poem, a major theme is about higher ups who send kids to die, downright ignoring their calls for help and using them for operation than can only end in a bloodbath.
