* StockDinosaurs: Most of the teachers are these: ''Tyrannosaurus'', ''Triceratops'', ''Iguanodon'', ''Stegosaurus'', ''Ankylosaurus'', ''Parasaurolophus'', ''Spinosaurus'', ''Deinonychus'', and ''Pteranodon''. On the other hand, the token sauropod is the non-stock ''Alamosaurus''.

* EveryGirlIsCuterWithHairDecs: Any girl animal that doesn't have LittleBitBeastly animal ears (eg. Ranka) ends up with hair decs instead - episode 9 has a star-nosed mole girl with the star-nose for a hairpin, rather than having those whiskers on her face. Even Hitomi has a hairpin in the shape of the female symbol (which is technically redundant).

* HugeSchoolgirl: Ferryl, Ranka's sister is easily 10ft tall. It's explained that she grew so much thanks to the Bergsmann's Rule, since during her childhood she would always leant her coat to shield Ranka from the cold.

* EverythingIsBetterWithDinosaurs: The teachers at school are dinosaurs and a pterosaur, although the principal is an ''Anomalocaris''. Also, whereas the students are all humanoid animals on some level, the teachers are all just extinct animals with little to no biological modification...wearing suits.

* HateSink: During the Sports Festival, there's Saruhara Pan and the other chimpanzees. They are a bunch of cheaters who never fail to rub in everyone's faces they can use (human made) inventions as 'tools' to give themselves an unfair advantage over the other animals. It stands out they're the only animals Ranka has downright refused to befriend.

* RaptorAttack: Mostly averted with Deino-sensei the ''Deinonychus'', who has feathers and uses his foot-claws the correct way (by stabbing, not disemboweling like in ''Franchise/JurassicPark'').

** Miyubi [[TheyKilledKennyAgain nearly dies of almost everything]], even the wind blowing. Expect Ranka to [[SayMyName scream]] "Miyubi!" everytime it happens.

* SeldomSeenSpecies: Many animals shown in the series aren't very common in media, including anime and manga, such as the Aye-aye, naked mole rat, ''Alamosaurus'', ''Diprotodon'', wallaroo, the tarsier, quagga, honey possum, the wooly spider monkey, ''Andrewsarchus'', Baiji, Steller's sea cow, prairie vole, aardwolf, antechinus and more.

* SeldomSeenSpecies: Many animals shown in the series aren't very common in media, including anime and manga, such as the Aye-aye, naked mole rat, ''Alamosaurus'', ''Diprotodon'', wallaroo, the tarsier, quagga, honey possum, the wooly spider monkey, ''Andrewsarchus'', Baiji, Steller's sea cow, prairie vole and more.

* {{Transgender}}: Yena takes a roundabout path but ultimately finds himself here. When introduced, he proclaims himself male while drawn in the LittleBitBeastly style exclusive to girls. However, this isn't Yena presenting as male, it's him not even realizing he could be anything ''but'' male, due to female hyenas having an organ similar to a penis. When this is pointed out to him, he briefly tries being more feminine, but Hitomi encourages Yena to BeYourself, and he remains male from that point onward. His father and brother lament the waste of the frilly clothing they got for him, but otherwise are accepting.

* BizarreSexualDimorphism: Females look a LittleBitBeastly, but males are basically bipedal animals.

** Miyubi nearly dies of almost everything.

Seton Academy, a school full of animals where, thanks to population decline, there are fewer humans than any other creature. Mazama Jin, an animal hater and the only human male in his class, falls in love with Hino Hitomi, the only female human, the moment he lays eyes her. However he soon finds himself entangled with various other creatures after he reluctantly joins the 'pack' of Ranka the wolf, the only other member of her pack.

* CannotSpitItOut: Kuromori, Ferryl's NumberTwo, can't muster the courage to tell her he likes her. Her crush of Terano-sensei doesn't help either.
* CuddleBug: Rimu-sensei the wooly spider monkey loves hugging people, much to Jin's dismay.

** Meimei becomes self-conscious that she has the smallest bust of all the girls at the cooking club when trying outfits.

* DramaticIrony: The reason Ranka thinks animals can work in harmony- she was rescued from bullies by a human- is the same reason Jin hates animals, since he ''was'' the human, and got a painful beatdown for his trouble.

* ArrangedMarriage: Meimei the giant panda is sent off to fulfill a breeding contract with a handsome male, which she is extremely unhappy about. (Un)Fortunately, the male decides she "isn't his type" and the contract is annulled.
** [[spoiler: Potential [[AvertedTrope aversion]] in the follow-up omake chapter, as the male panda actually was interested in Mei-Mei. But chose not to breed with her because he believes idols shouldn't get pregnant.]]

* LadyLooksLikeADude: Yena the spotted hyena didn't even know she was a woman until Jin pointed out [[spoiler:female hyenas have a pair of false genitals]], afterwards she finally accepts being a (very tomboyish) woman.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: Hanjima takes advantage of his charm to make Chloe lose focus during their [[SeriousBusiness card game]]. When Chloe finds out he's a ''Quagga'' who only pretended to like her, she kicks him in the face and wins the game.

* CuttingTheKnot: Chloe quickly becomes the world champion at the "Magic: The Donkeying" card game due to her kicking all her opponents unconscious, which is apparently legal in the game's rules.

* KickChick: As expected from a zebra, Chloe mostly uses kicks.

* SeriousBusiness: Card games are this for donkeys and zebras. Chloe even becomes champion.

* TookALevelInKindness: Chloe was at first snobbish and mean spirited, but after Jin reveals zebras are more closely related to donkeys than horses, her pride goes away and becomes a much nicer person.

* BearsAreBadNews: The gang of bears are a bunch of bullies that constantly harass Jin and Lanka. Until Ferryl came along.

* DogsLoveBeingPraised: Jin ends up tutoring most of the BeastMan and LittleBitBeastly population of the school when they hear rumors that anyone who fails the next tests will be expelled. As Jin tutors everyone, finding ways to learn particular to each type of beast, he very specifically does ''not'' tutor Lanka the wolf until much later, in private. That's because the special trick he has for her is, very simply, praising her whenever she gets anything right. Unfortunately, Lanka gets ''so'' excited at Jin's praise that she leaps onto him, prompting Jin to get mad and throw her out of the room, which the narration notes pretty much negates the effects of the praise.

* ForcefulKiss: A rather odd variant. Like a wolf, Lanka licks people in the mouth to welcome them to her club. The reactions vary.

* HateSink: During the Sports Festival, there's Saruhara Pan and the other chimpanzees. * NakedPeopleAreFunny: The first thing everyone notices about Lanka's father is that he's a (realistic) naked wolf.

* OverprotectiveDad: Lanka's dad isn't pleased with Lanka hanging out with Jin. And when he finds out about Ferryl's crush on Terano-sensei, he immediately jumps to attack a freaking ''T-Rex''.

* PintSizedPowerhouse: Mam the mammoth might be tiny (about Lanka's size), but she still has all the strength of a prehistoric elephant.

* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: This is the reaction of the cooking club when meeting Lanka's father. He ends up looking like a wolf wearing pajamas.

* TeensAreShort: Lanka is tiny for a wolf/teenager.

* TyrannosaurusRex: Terano-sensei is the homeroom teacher of Jin and Lanka's class, and a ''T. rex''.
