** Moka's father deconstructs this in the manga's epilogue too, saying that although he's not really in a position to go all OverprotectiveDad over his daughter being part of a harem [[HypocrisyNod since he's a polygamist himself]], considering how his own polygamy [[GreenEyedMonster turned]] [[MurderTheHypotenuse out]] Tsukune may want to think very carefully before attempting anything similar. Tsukune confirms that the implications of the parallel have not been lost on him.

The anime, on the other hand, is a LighterAndSofter romantic comedy with {{Panty Shot}}s. Sure, it borrows some of the plot from the manga, but that pretty much stays in the background (entire arcs are reduced to single episodes, just to give an idea).

The first season of manga ran for 10 volumes in Japan, and the second for 14. The series was also published in America. An anime adaptation aired in early 2008, and a second [[OddlyNamedSequel season]] titled ''Rosario + Vampire [=Capu2=]'' aired later that year. Both seasons have been licensed by Funimation.

* BoyMeetsGhoul: Vampire, actually. [[spoiler:Quickly followed by [[EmergencyTransformation Boy]] ''[[EmergencyTransformation Becomes]]'' [[EmergencyTransformation Ghoul]]]].

** Kurumu develops from GagBoobs girl to [[spoiler:someone who's tortured inside by the love she has for Tsukune but hides it with her external cheerfulness and who deeply cares about her friends. She is further torn by the love she has for Tsukune and the love she has for her friends when she knows she will never "win" him from Moka.]]

* GagBoobs: Kurumu. Even when turned into a child, she's still not flat.

** Mizore is a biological ChristmasCake who was abandoned by her first crush due to her heritage and nearly forced into an ArrangedMarriage.

** There's also the end of the anime, where Tsukune, faced with the question of "who will you end up with", tries using this in conjunction with LoveYouAndEverybody so as not to let the other girls down, especially because they busted their humps to help him before. [[spoiler: It only earns him a kick in the face from Inner Moka]].

* NoPronunciationGuide: The title of this manga is pronounced "Rosario To Vampire" rather than "Rosario Plus Vampire".

* BustContrastDuo: The first two love interests ([[UnwantedHarem of many]]) are Moka and Kurumu. FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Moka is, for the most part, sweet and wholesome, but has a SplitPersonality that borders on SuperpoweredEvilSide and is ''painfully'' Tsundere; the endlessly-lovestruck-succubus Kurumu is the trope-image for BuxomIsBetter. Moka has a good pair of boobs, but Kurumu's are certainly superior in size.

* BuxomIsBetter: Kurumu's popularity in the school is due to her large bust.

%%* ArmorPiercingSlap: Moka gives a couple to Tsukune.

** Tsukune is Flanderized over time in the manga, bit by bit turning more from a classic harem hero into a shounen protagonist. Early on he's pretty clearly aware that the other girls like him (it would be hard for him not to, since they stated it outright back then), but as is typical of the genre he just preferred the NiceGirl type of Outer Moka to their more extroverted behavior. He's obviously aware they care about him and that they're very pretty girls. This is all completely forgotten later on when, to facilitate his change into the big strong hero [[SingleTargetSexuality who only has eyes for one girl in the world]], Tsukune apparently not only forgets that the other girls like him, but seems to forget that they're ''girls'', at least in any other fashion than that they [[DistressedDamsel need saving occasionally]]. He goes from seeing them as admirers and close friends he often doesn't quite know how to deal with to treating them like a bunch of friendly acquaintances that happen to follow him around.

* DebutQueue: Moka, Kurumu, Gin and Yukari each get a chapter/episode dedicated to their introduction, plus a chapter dedicated to them deciding which club to join. That's a five chapter/episode DebutQueue (plus one filler episode in the anime. Ruby and Mizore followed a bit later, after which the story finally seemed to have some real direction. It's notable that Ling-Ling was introduced the chapter after Fang-Fang.

** Yukari's mother. She has a wide array of expressions to communicate in the anime, but that's only because she has yet to speak in the manga.

* BerserkButton:
** You ''wouldn't'' want to wound Tsukune in front of the girls. Seriously. In the anime, a seemingly fatal attack on Tsukune from behind enraged Moka so much that Inner forcibly bypassed her rosary in order to manifest.
** Inner Moka also hates to be touched, ''even'' by Tsukune.
** If you mess with San-senpai, Gin will ''[[TranquilFury destroy]]'' you.
** Harming any of Tsukune's TrueCompanions will result in a unmerciful beatdown.

* InterspeciesRomance: [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Tsukune]] is human, [[EmergencyTransformation sort of]]. [[OurVampiresAreDifferent The]] [[HornyDevils girls]] [[AnIcePerson pining]] [[CuteWitch for]] [[HotWitch him]]... [[CuteMonsterGirl not so much]].

** Subverted with Kurumu; despite her pretenses of sexual confidence and aggressiveness (coupled with HornyDevils), she's very chaste and pure-hearted with endearingly innocent views on love.

* OneGenderRace: Both [[HornyDevils succubi]] and [[AnIcePerson yuki onna]] are implied to be this; we've seen some hybrid monsters, so OnlyYouCanRepopulateMyRace only works if their racial traits are inherently dominant. It's possible that this contributes to their motivations to pursue Tsukune, a human - monstrels are said to be the result of inter-monster-species pairings, but it's never clarified what kind of being a human-monster pairing would produce.

** And used for FanDisservice with her fanboy, whose stomach jiggles similarly.

* OnceAnEpisode: One can practically time when the obligatory fight and final blood-sucking "kapuchu~!!" will happen by the start of episode 4.
** Also, possibly coupled with the blood-sucking, the exchange of SayMyName.

* GenreShift: The manga started out as a comedy harem series, but the current presence of the Fairy Tail organization has shifted it over to a more traditional Shonen series.

* UnmovingPlaid: A couple of pages of the manga feature this with the girls' skirts when they disguise themselves as members of Fairy Tail.

** [[spoiler: Moka apparently was an IllGirl and near-death at birth and her mom had to inject her with her blood to save her which eventually led to Moka getting her powers...guess who had to inject her blood to save Tsukune which eventually led to him taking a level in badass by becoming a ghoul.]]

** In the bonus chapter of the first season of Kurumu gives Tsukune the usual MarshmallowHell treatment after seeing him looking drained after Moka sucked his blood. Tsukune tries to reach up to push her away... [[UnfortunateImplications Stop me if you've heard this one before...]].

** Also, F'''a'''ng-F'''a'''ng '''Huang'''. Just like [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV Yang Fang Leiden]] So many different sources (including Wiki/ThisVeryWiki once or twice), refer to it as F''o''ng-F''o''ng ''Won''/''Wang''/''Wong'' that it is not difficult for a get-the-facts-right fan to turn it into a BerserkButton. The confusion likely stems from the fact that despite being Hong Kong based (mainly Cantonese), they are seen speaking Mandarin in the manga, Fang-Fang Huang would be correct for Mandarin, Fong-Fong Wong would be correct for Cantonese.

*** In a flashback of Moka's childhood in chapter 31 of vol 2 we see that Unsealed Moka was unable to carry Kokoa’s transformer bat (which was Moka's reason to ket Kokoa keep it rather than receive it as a birthday present). However, in the eighth chapter of vol 2 we see a de-aged version of OUTER Moka (who is far weaker than Inner/unsealed Moka) wielding the bat efficiently.

* ContinuitySnarl: Two in season 2.
** When Kokoa is first introduced, the flashback has young Moka telling Kokoa that she is moving to the human world with her mother. However, in chapter 31 of capu 2 it has Moka's mother telling her daughter that she will be going alone without her. This could be due to Moka's memories being affected by the rosary however.
** In a flashback of Moka's childhood in chapter 31 of vol 2 we see that Unsealed Moka was unable to carry Kokoa’s transformer bat.
