Shao loves Marie, who is also unaware, while Frederica and [[spoiler:Misura]] have some LesYay tendencies toward Marie (who even has her own StalkerWithACrush, Vigo). On top of that, Kabuto has a thing for both [[{{Pettanko}} Frederica and Sakurako]], and Oboro is ''really'' HoYay for Ageha. Did I miss anyone?

It was published in Weekly Shounen Jump from December 2007 to November 2010 and has been licensed by VizMedia. Volume 1 is expected to appear State-side December 2010. Also it has two light novels written for it.

* [=~It's a Small World After All~=] - First with Ageha getting involved with Psyren when Sakurako was already a contender, then later when he finds out another of their old classmates (Hiryuu, who was also one of the few survivors of the "first" round) also made it to Psyren at the same time.

** Another variant Kagetora blocks a knife attack from Junas with [[BeyondTheImpossible his head]].

** Played straight with any Tavoo, and taken BeyondTheImpossible with Amagi Miroku, who survives [[spoiler:a telekinetic sunlight beam that nearly killed him and reduced his body to coal.]]

** This one felt it was more like {{Dragonball}} meets [[{{ChronoTrigger}} Chrono Trigger]]

** This troper felt is was like a combination of HunterxHunter's Greed Island arc (a game that transports you somewhere, needs super powers to be played, and that can kill you in horrific ways at any given time) and the Future arc from KatekyoHitmanReborn (everyone travels about ten years into the future which is a CrapsackWorld where they learn all kinds of awesome powers, then when they go back home practically everyone and their mom seems to already have those powers, and [[spoiler: the final fight is a huge AntiClimax]]).

* BringHimToMe: In chapter 61, Granada arranges to have Agega brought to the W.I.S.E headquarters, apparently because he's interested in his unique Psy power.

* XanatosGambit - [[spoiler: As it turns out, Mithra is actually an incarnate of Ouroboros, who after possessing the girl and landing on Earth, began giving Miroku dreams and emotions that would cause him to have a desire for destroying the world and rebuilding it anew, and to gather energy by blocking the sun's rays in a specific way that would allow Ouroboros to gather enough energy to devour Earth.]]
** Nemesis Q tops this. The entire goal of Psyren? [[spoiler:To deliver a single message from future-07 to present-Miroku]]. Although, granted, all the different iterations of Psyren were needed to [[spoiler: complete that message -- namely, 07 figuring out the XanatosGambit directly above.]]
* YamatoNadeshiko - Marie

** Kasukabe notes that if he and Tatsuo go too close to the sun, the effects of the membrane won't work and they'll die because of their Illuminas Forges. This is (perhaps unintentionally) very similar to the myth of Icarus and Daedelus.

* AntiClimax - [[spoiler: Ageha and Miroku's fight. Considering Amagi Miroku is one of the most powerful psi-users, with the power to manipulate life energy and the leader of W.I.S.E and BigBad of the manga [[XanatosSucker kind of]]; it takes all but one chapter for Ageha to beat and fatally wound him (in ironically enough the exact time frame his [[OneWingedAngel Raging King]] last).]]

* MakeABetterWorld - The whole purpose of the Psyren games is to stop the W.I.S.E. from destroying humanity. Additionally, Amagi Miroku believes that this is what he is doing by destroying humanity.
** [[spoiler:Subverted to hell. Q explains she doesn't give a crap about stopping the W.I.S.E. This is all to sate her curiosity]]

* FridgeBrilliance- There were some complaints about the Miroku vs Grana fight, namely "How did he survive [[spoiler:carbonization]]?" and the whole [[spoiler:Miroku eating souls to heal himself]]. Then we find out that [[spoiler:Miroku is made of souls]]. Suddenly his survival and recovery makes a lot more sense.
** This spoiler was lampshaded before the reveal: [[spoiler: those who master Nova become pure Psi energy, and Miroku certainly has. His Psi power lets him consume souls, therefore he gained a soul-body some time ago.]]
* FridgeBrilliance: Ageha's inability to pronounce Psyren based on reading the card. The ps blend doesn't exist in Japanese. Naturally, this comes off as a bit silly in the English version, but we must remember that the TranslatorConvention is in effect here.
