''Kimi ni Todoke'' (officially translated as ''[[Music/TheBeatles From Me to You]]'', more literally as ''Reaching You'') is the story of [[StringyHairedGhostGirl Sawa]][[EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette ko]] [[Characters/KimiNiTodoke Kuronuma]], whose resemblance to the horror movie character [[TheRing Sadako]] has made her a social outcast. Being outcast from a young age has made her socially awkward, which only makes her more of an outcast, so it's all really a vicious cycle.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse - Outside of rare mention, Kurumi has been completely absent from the manga after he HeelFaceTurn in chapters 42 and 43.
** She made a brief appearance in Chapter 56, being pursued by a boy (at which point [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Chigusa]] popped up to give a "report" on Kurumi's new UnwantedHarem.

** Mostly Sawako though. By the time the New Year's Eve episode rolls around, Kazehaya is dropping anvil-sized hints that he really likes Sawako.

* HotMom - Sawako's mother is quite [[http://pic2.sky-fire.com/AllComic/Browser.html?c=398&v=048&p=19 attractive]] for someone her age. Chizuru's mother isn't bad-looking either, though she shares her daughter's over the top facial expressions. Ryuu's mom, in turn, looks like gender-bent [[{{Bishounen}} Tooru]] and definitely gets the prize, though we only get to see her in flashbacks (but by that time she's already a mother of a high-schooler, just like Mrs. Kuronuma and Mrs. Yoshida in the present).

* NoSocialSkills - Sawako's social skills are poor in the beginning...

** Actually not really- Sawako may come off as an ExtremeDoormat, but part of her charm, at least to Kazehaya, is that she's always enjoying whatever she's doing. She doesn't do things because she feels forced, she does them because she likes being helpful. Exemplified early on in the manga when Yano jokingly suggests she learns how to tell scary ghost stories and Sawako is *sparkling* with excitement. She's got the looks, she's got the aura, she might as well do it right.

* FinishDialogueInUnison: At tte end of the rumours arc in the anime series:

* DarkerAndEdgier: A very mild example, but several fans of the series have started to notice the growing maturity of the storylines covered in the manga. The shift from light-hearted, heartwarming fluff to slightly heavier drama has been subtle, but it's definitely there.

* SiblingYinYang - Ryuu and Tooru.

* LoveDodecahedron: So, let’s see...Kurumi (and Yuka and a whole harem of girls) is in love with Kazehaya. Kazehaya loves Sawako, who loves him back; however, Kent also likes Sawako but eventually turns his affections to Ayane, who at various points dates her unnamed college boyfriend, Mogi, and [[spoiler: Kent]]. [[ShipTease Pin may or may not also have feelings for Ayane, who may or may not also have feelings for him,]] and Joe also likes Ayane. Meanwhile, Sae has feelings for Ryu who is in love with Chizu, who may or may not be developing similar feelings for him, but who was initially in love with Toru, who is engaged to[[spoiler:/married to]] Haruko. LoveDodecahedron indeed.

** But also SnowMeansLove: most of the Chizu/Ryu [[ShipTease ship teasing]] occurs in the snow; the most blatant examples would be in chapters 23, 27, 62 and 63. Of course, this occurs in most of the chapters involving snow with some pairing or another, given that, well, [[CaptainObvious this is a romantic manga.]]

** [[AyaHirano Kurumi]] starts off sounding all nice and sweet, but once she starts acting like she's some sort of god, she starts [[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya sounding like one]] too.

** A different variation with Chizu and Ryu; Ayane comments on how they "might as well be dating" and Sawako thought they ''were'' at first (not to mention she obviously [[ShipperOnDeck ships them a lot]]), but Chizu usually reacts to these thoughts with the expected horror and embarrassment.

* ShipperOnDeck - Sawako ships Ryuu and Chizuru. Meanwhile, her friends ship her with Kazehaya.
** Ryu's mother also appeared to ship Chizu/Ryu when they were little.

* BechdelTest: Most of the female characters pass. Interestingly, [[GenderInvertedTrope had the test applied to men]], it is not entirely certain wether the male characters would pass.

* UnnamedParent - None of the names of the parents shown in the series are revealed within the story. However, [[WordOfGod the anime's official blog]] reveals two of their names: Genji Sanada (Ryu's father) and Youko Kuronuma (Sawako's mother).

** Ryu's mother's name would appear to be Tetsuko.
