* AdultChild - Yogi's 21, but he could've fooled anybody if not for that [[EstrogenBrigadeBait handsome build]]...
* AfraidOfNeedles - Yogi's afraid of Doctor Akari to the point of amusement for the audience, probably because of a traumatic surgery, as Gareki guesses.

* BringMyRedJacket - Gareki wears one of these. Underneath which is a [[SugarWiki/TheLittleBlackDress pretty fanservicey shirt]], but so far no one except the readers have bothered to point it out.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass - Yogi

* {{Handguns}} - Gareki likes using them. Circus doesn't like his use of them.

* LadyOfWar - Tsukumo's specialty is acrobatics, so...

* PapaWolf - He may be the StoicGlasses and furthermore, a ManipulativeBastard, but Hirato does NOT like it when people mess with his "children."

* ScaryShinyGlasses - Hirato gets this on occasion.

* SplitPersonality - [[spoiler:Yogi has one. His usually gold hair turns silver as an indication.]]
* StoicGlasses - Hirato fits this to a T.

* TheStoic - Tsukumo

* WaifFu - Tsukumo is ''extremely'' strong despite how petite and slender she is...

* ZettaiRyouiki - Tsukumo

* DarkAndTroubledPast - Gareki. It's a wonder how he's so normal after all that.

* GadgeteerGenius - Gareki. Made particularly apparent through his contribution to the mission embarked on by Circus in volume 7.
* GogglesDoNothing - Gareki pretty much ''never'' wears his. They're just there to look cool.

* HitmanWithAHeart - Demonstrated by Gareki at the very beginning

* StreetUrchin - Gritty type. Prominent early on with Gareki, though the circumstances over why are explained later. He does mellow down once he and Nai wind up with Circus, becoming broodier and using less dirty tricks. His sharp intellect's evident throughout, however.
* TheGunslinger - What Gareki might be, if Circus allowed him to use his gun.

* {{Tsundere}} - Gareki can be a Type A male version, especially when Yogi teases him.
** In fact, both Yogi and Tsukumo are awestruck at [[spoiler: his surprising innocence regarding snow (which he had never seen)]] at one point in the manga.

* ChildrenAreInnocent - Nai, considering that he knows next to nothing about the world except what Karoku taught him, unknowing of what "blood" is and what it means when it's splattered outside the body. [[spoiler: Although he's actually a cute little animal.]]

* GoodIsDumb - Nai, considering that he [[spoiler: was originally cute little animal (which justifies it; he looks like a child as well, so...). It's to the point that he doesn't understand what blood is, but]] he's slowly learning more about the world.

* HeroicAlbino - Nai

* TheLancer - Yogi to Hirato, Gareki to Nai. However, Gareki seems to share the main character role with Nai, a good deal of narrative focus going into Gareki's thoughts and circumstances.

* EstrogenBrigadeBait - Although most of the male cast could qualify to the point of having a CastFullOfPrettyBoys, Gareki is especially seen in cut up or revealing outfits that should not look as hot as they do when he's wearing them.

* FoeYay - Akari and Hirato's relationship, though mostly one-sided and amusing when they're not being serious.

* MercyKill - Circus see it as their duty to kill the Varuga both to protect humans and put the Varuga out of their misery.

* BringMyRedJacket - Gareki wears one of these. Underneath which is a [[SugarWiki/TheLittleBlackDress pretty slutty shirt]], but so far no one except the readers have bothered to point it out.

* CelibateHero - In chapter 12, Yogi mentions how cool Gareki can be when Gareki easily shoots down a bracelet in a booth that Yogi had been trying to get, and how he probably has several girlfriends. It seems to be implied otherwise.
** Of course two seconds later a girl Gareki had known since childhood literally jumps on him, causing Yogi to exclaim in disbelief, "GIRLFRIEND A!?" Which both deny, the girl more vehemently, as she is apparently determined to marry a "plump, gentle-eyed person!" The direct opposite of Gareki, as Yogi puts it.

* HoYay - As with [[{{Loveless}} many]] [[{{Saiyuki}} manga]] serialized in [=ZeroSum=], ''Karneval'' has ample hints of HoYay, from Gareki's looking after Nai all the time (Nai's innocence particularly affects him), to Yogi's perceived friendship with Gareki (thinking of him as cute because of the deredere side of Gareki's {{Tsundere}} characteristics), to Hirato and Akari's FoeYay, to Yogi's attempts to gain Hirato's praise...

* LesYay - Much like Hinoe from ''NatsumeYuujinchou'', Eva dislikes men and prefers the cute softness of girls, like Tsukumo.
