* EquivalentExchange: The Rokakaka fruits are basically a HealingPotion, but the person who consumes the fruit loses another body part as [[TakenForGranite it becomes stone]]. Infertile women become pregnant, but they produce sand instead of milk. Elderly people missing teeth grow back stone ones. There is one variety that does not apparently produce this exchange, [[spoiler:and it's the variety that apparently helped in the fusion of Yoshikage Kira and Josefumi Kujo into the hero Josuke Higashikata]], and that quality is what makes it desirable to a multitude of antagonistic parties.

** '''Curses of the land''': There's several different curses in Morioh, most of which being related to rocks or earth; several characters try to find a way to remove the curses they're afflicted by - sometimes at a terrible cost. The firstborn children of the Higashikata family are afflicted by Rock Disease, leading other relatives to sacrifice themselves to save the victims. Milagro Man is an independent Stand that curses its victims with ever-increasing wealth, forcing the victim to pass the curse to someone else. The ginko biloba trees of Shakedown Road have been used by the residents to extort other people, and were possibly the cause of Johnny Joestar's death. The Rokakaka fruit, thanks to its EquivalentExchange properties, can heal people but petrifies certain body parts in exchange. Josuke is cursed with amnesia and was found buried under the Wall Eyes, while Yasuho has been plagued by a Rock Insect [[spoiler:and a Rock Human]] during her youth. Finally, Morioh is infested by a high concentration of Rock Humans, which are described as both parasites of humanity and "part of the land"; their leader possesses the power of [[spoiler:inflicting "calamity" on anyone who pursues him, essentially cursing his opponents with extremely bad luck]].

** Satoru Akefu, [[spoiler:even before it's revealed he's actually Toru's Stand, Wonder of U, posing as the posthumous doctor]], has several off qualities such as being able to teleport anywhere with ease, his proportions being spry, tall, and slender for a man nearing his 90s, and his facial features being described by Holly to be an artificial disguise to hide an incomprehensible form.
** Tsurugi's Stand, Paper Moon King, invokes this by having those initially affected by it to see everyone as a nondescript, {{Gonk}} regardless of gender, species or stature- making the victim unnerved by the sight.

** One of [[spoiler:Tooru's]] defining character moments is listening to Music/ElvisPresley's "The Wonder of You" to maintain composure. However, while Elvis' recording of the song was released in 1970, the album it's listened off of is ''The Wonder of You'', an Elvis compilation album with additional compositions from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra released in 2016. In contrast, ''[=JoJolion=]'' takes place in 2011, emphasized by the heavy usage of [[TrackingDevice GPSs]] and [[IProduct iPods]].
** A more glaring example is Yasuho's flashback to her first meeting with [[spoiler:Tooru]] at summer camp, where she's seen looking up beaches in Okinawa on her smartphone and later [[spoiler:(presumably with the assistance of Paisley Park) successfully finds a medical practitioner (Satoru Afeku) to the standards that Tooru's looking for.]] The problem is, given that Satoru's stated as being 10 years younger (79 rather than 89), this flashback presumably takes place in 2001, at which point smartphones would hardly even exist, with very few of those being advanced enough for such actions as searching specific locations on the internet or finding actual profiles of people. It's possible that all of this is thanks to Paisley Park, but [[spoiler:Tooru]] does not seem surprised for what would be unheard of in those times. Perhaps it's an AlternateHistory where technological advancement occurred much earlier?

* AccidentalMurder: While chasing the head doctor of TG University Hospital, Josuke, Yasuho and Rai are attacked by his Stand, which amplifies the force of objects that collide into them. Josuke injures himself in one of these attacks and accidentally splashes his blood onto a nearby hospital patient, who is angered and tries to grab Josuke. Josuke blocks his hand with bubbles and ends up reflecting the force of the collusion into the patient, which is strong enough to snap his neck.

** '''Family versus Self-interest''': A major motivation by nearly the entire cast is the struggle between doing what's best for yourself, and doing what's best for your family. Josuke wants to rediscover his identity, but in doing so he puts his foster family at risk. Norisuke really comes to like Josuke and wants to assist him on his quest, but must also consider the issues that come with putting a stranger above his own family. Jobin must come to terms with doing what's right for his ailing son at the cost of putting himself in great danger, and even the main villains are motivated by a desire to keep their smuggling ring in tact so that they can survive. One of the final fights even revolves around an abstracted form of this concept: [[spoiler: Wonder of U makes it so that selfishly pursuing the Stand causes untold calamities to befall the pursuer. The catch is that being made to pursue something the Stand is also going after does not trigger the calamity effect, because you're not technically pursuing the Stand itself. ** '''Self-identity''': Josuke's character arc revolves around him deciding who he is based on the experiences he has. He begins the story as a fragile and quirky weirdo, but the progressively darker circumstances of the story and the brutality he suffers at the hands of his enemies quickly begins pushing him towards being TheStoic. Other examples include Yasuho's struggle with her AbusiveParent and figuring out who she wants to be, Joshuu's desires to be loved and given affection, and Jobin's [[spoiler: descent into villainy by realizing his desire to save his son from the family curse outweighs his love for his father.]]
