* CampGay: [[{{filler}} Suzaku of the Flower]], a Demon Ninja based off of the [[TheFourGods Vermillion Phoenix]]. His comrades tell him several times to stop acting like that, as it creeps them out, and Jakotsu of the Band of Seven.

* BuriedAlive: Sango, after being badly wounded. [[{{Badass}} She]] [[RiseFromYourGrave clawed her way out.]]
** Granted, they genuinely thought she was dead.

* CallingYourAttacks: Once the manga hit its stride, almost all the characters do this. Uniquely, Sesshoumaru's the only one who rarely calls his attacks out loud. He ''[[{{badass}} thinks]]'' them instead.

* CreepyCentipedes: Mistress Centipede is the first and foremost instance, but generic giant centipede monsters turn out to be one of the most commonly-encountered and easily-dispatched {{mook}}s.

* CreepyCentipedes: The Mukade-Joro and tons of regular demon mooks serving Naraku.

* {{Bowdlerise}}: First villainess [[CreepyCentipedes Mistress Centipede’s]] breast size is flattened in the Viz dub. Some scenes that focus on Kagome bathing and Shippo's crotch are also skipped.

* DamagedSoul: Kikyo only has one part of her soul since [[{{Reincarnation}} Kagome]] has most of it. Which also means that Kagome's soul is missing a piece, but her soul is depicted as so unusually large and potent that she's not affected.

''[[InuYasha InuYasha]]'' is an enormously popular {{anime}} based upon the similarly popular {{manga}} of the same name by RumikoTakahashi. Seven seasons totaling 167 episodes were made and shown on Japanese television, with the series ending in September 2004 in Japan. AdultSwim aired the final episode of a very decent English-language dub in October 2006, and the series continues to air in the very early Sunday morning slot, where it has been airing continuously since the series' end (the only other show to have run longer on Adult Swim is ''CowboyBebop''). Inu-Yasha and friends appear in the MassiveMultiplayerCrossover game, VideoGame/SundayVSMagazineShuuketsuChoujouDaikessen.

** Sesshomaru starts off as a villain, but subsequent CharacterDevelopment shifts him from there to AntiVillain and from there arguably to AntiHero; exactly where he falls tends to vary [[YourMileageMayVary depending on your perspective]].

* AntiVillain: Saint Hakushin; Kagura and Sesshoumaru both evolve into this role as well, and [[YourMileageMayVary some]] also count Bankotsu and Jakotsu, although their actions overall make them more arguable cases.

* AsYouKnow: One of the many methods that the show uses to recap events.

* AssholeVictim[=/=]KickTheSonOfABitch: Inuyasha's SuperpoweredEvilSide killed several bandits in a brutal way.

* TheFourGods: a QuirkyMinibossSquad in one of the late filler arcs (first half of the anime's sixth season) is a squad of four Demon Ninjas based on them; Byakko of the Snow (Byakko the White Tiger), Genbu of the Darkness (Genbu the Black Turtle), Seiryuu of the Moon (Seiryuu the Azure Dragon), and Suzaku of the Flower (Suzaku the Vermillion Phoenix).
** The villains of the the fourth movie, "Fire on the Mystic Island", are also based off of TheFourGods, though somewhat less blatantly than the aforementioned Demon Ninjas.

* GiveMeLibertyOrGiveMeDeath: Kagura is willing to die for her freedom [[spoiler: and eventually does]]. Lampshaded by Mouryoumaru who insults her willingness to die for freedom, something he views as worthless.

* SensibleHeroesSkimpyVillains: While the two female heroes dress modestly, first two villainess [[GettingCrapPassTheRadar Mistress]] [[FullFrontalAssualt Centipede]] and [[{{Stripperiffic}} Yura]] dressed rather scantily.

* SummonToHand: The Tessaiga has done this for Inuyasha at least once.

* TheSweatDrop: An extremely common trope in this manga. Just about every single character experiences this on a regular basis. Sesshoumaru is the exception. He is never given a SweatDrop.

* TameHisAnger: Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Koga go through this as the series progresses.

* TwentyFourHourArmor: Sesshoumaru and Kouga never go anywhere without their armor. Given that Inuyasha's fire-rat robe is supposed to double as armour, he never goes anywhere without it either.

Typical Japanese teenage OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent, GenkiGirl Kagome, granddaughter of a Shinto priest, has the ability to climb down into an ancient well on the grounds of her grandfather's shrine and, in doing so, TimeTravel to [[TheTimeOfMyths allegedly-feudal-Japan]], except for the fact that demons, goblins, vengeful ghosts, malevolent wizard-priests, short-tempered twelve-foot-tall ogres, and [[{{Youkai}} all manner of other creepy-crawlies]][[hottip:* :significantly, this is one of the few Japanese fantasy anime that ''isn't'' set in a pseudo-medieval-European fantasy world; just about ''everything'' in it is based on Japanese myths and legends, and that alone makes it worth your time to look for]] are all over the place and you can barely swing your arms without hitting one of them. Another noteworthy difference from most anime is that almost all of the characters who are supposed to be Japanese humans are actually depicted with black hair. If you've seen just a bit of anime, you might recognize how unusual this is (other HairColors are much more common).

In the 2nd, [[spoiler: the command forces Inuyasha out of the path of Kaguya's attack.]] In the 3rd, [[spoiler: just when it seems no force in the world can get Sou'unga to release him, he gets Sat with so much force that ''[[ExplosiveOverclocking the beads explode!]]'' ]]

* TheSweatDrop: An extremely common trope in this manga. Just about every single character experiences this on a regular basis. Sesshoumaru is the exception. He never sweats.

* WithFriendsLikeThese: Miroku and Sango..DEAR GOD Sango and Miroku. Don't you think they're more than a little prejudiced toward Inuyasha? Kagome as well to a lessor sense.

** This actually plays into Japanese culture; the beings referred to in Japan as {{Yokai}} and {{Obake}} would probably be considered more Fey than Demons by Western standards.
