''Hitoribocchi no OO Seikatsu'' [[note]]Can be either translated as ''Hitori Bocchi's *** Lifestyle'' or ''The *** Lifestyle of Being Alone''[[/note]], also known as ''Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu'', began as a comedic four-panel manga written and illustrated by Katsuwo (the creator of ''Manga/MitsuboshiColors''), and began serialization in ''Dengeki Daioh "g"'' in 2013.

* MeaningfulName: Almost every named character is named after a phrase or term that describes them. The most obvious one is of course Bocchi Hitori, whose name is derived from ''hitoribocchi'' (all alone).

* CornerOfWoe: When Bocchi first tells Sokota she's not a ninja, her reaction is to collapse to her knees in deep gloom.

* PhenotypeStereotype: Sotca's a blonde, blue-eyed foreigner.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: A number of Bocchi's classmates pop up early on in the story before she gets to know them.

** Aru headbutts Nako every time she pisses her off.

* CruelToBeKind: Kai only broke off her friendship with Bocchi because she wants Bocchi to conquer her social anxiety. Whenever Kai is around, it's clear that she's very cut up about what she did and even worries that Bocchi will hate her for it. Kai is arguably justified in her seemingly harsh decision because [[spoiler: it's Bocchi's fault that they aren't attending the same middle school together in the first place. In the prequel to the manga, Kai points out that Bocchi applied to her middle school, but flunked the admissions process. And why did Bocchi flunk? She refused to show up for the mandatory interview due to her overpowering shyness.]]

* EarlyBirdCameo: For both anime ''and'' manga; a couple of Bocchi's classmates first appear in volume 1's bonus chapter before appearing in the main story, while the anime has more appearing in the background and opening credits before Bocchi encounters them.

* StressVomit: One of Bocchi's typical reactions to social situations is to vomit, which is how her first interaction with Nako ends. Nako even calls her "Vomit" for a while afterward.

* VomitDiscretionShot: In episode 1, poor Bocchi winds up puking when trying to give an introduction of herself to the class. We cut to the show's EyeCatch just as she pukes.
