''Golden Boy'' is a manga series by Tatsuya Egawa, later turned into a short anime series.

In 2010, Tatsuya came back with ''Golden Boy II - Sasurai no Obenkyou Yarou Geinoukai Ooabare-hen''. As the name implies it's a sequel of the original series, but it remains fairly unknown, in contrast to the original boom.

Kintaro Oe, the series' protagonist, is a perverted freeter (low income freelancer) who rides through Japan on his trusty bicycle, looking for his purpose in life. Having left Tokyo University without graduating (while ''at the top of his class'', mind you), he decides to try every job he can to find something he likes. During his travels, he comes in contact with beautiful women whose lives he changes in different ways - and always for the better. However, before that change, he makes rather poor first impressions on them due to his perverted traits and general clumsiness. In the end, Kintaro rides off into the sunset, having won new experiences - and the hearts of the women he leaves behind.

* ArtShift: Played for laughs, particularly with the many facial expressions Kintaro has, which usually happens whenever he experiences something exciting or tries to be dramatic.

* CementShoes: Aparently, Naoko has a habit of having her father, a [[CorruptPolitician powerful politician with connections]] to the {{Yakuza}}, disposing of boyfriends that she gets bored with, with one guy shown being thrown into a lake.

** Actually, he uses his combat skills several times in the manga, but only if someone else will get hurt besides himself. He once attacked the woman of the volume to save Yakuza, who had been beating him up, from her. Now he just used pressure points to incapacitate her then run away while carrying her.

* ChickMagnet: Kintaro, combined with being a CluelessChickMagnet, as, despite relentlessly perusing the girls who end up falling for him, he often ends up leaving town before they can get with him. Played more straight in the manga where he does get with some of them.
* ChivalrousPervert: Kintaro's libido is through the roof most of the time, and he keeps getting caught up in erotic daydreams at the slightest provocation, but he genuinely makes an effort not to be a complete perv at times. And he always puts his love interests' well-being and happiness before himself.
