* DemotedToExtra: Many of the Tournament of Power participants who had a memorable or important role in the anime count, but for the earliest part of the saga Krillin counts on team U7. His status as the first eliminated member of team Universe 7 came as a huge shock, after getting a whole well-received mini-arc about him regaining lost strength and resolve, not to mention going down after taking out several opponents on his own. Here, the instant the starting formation he and the rest of team U7's more cautious half formed breaks, he's knocked out of the ring by Frost without a chance to do anything. Tien, too, is eliminated that same chapter by Frost, but his role was barely any larger (amounting to one KO Roshi needed to assist on, and a second that he needed to end up taking himself down to finish) and involved a lot of IdiotBall.

** Frost and Frieza's VillainTeamUp subplot during the tournament of power's early part receives more focus, revealing that [[spoiler:Frieza himself suggested that Frost target Krillin, Tien, and Master Roshi. In the anime, there was nothing particularly special about his role in the elimination of the first and third on that list, simply being portrayed as U6's TokenEvilTeammate doing what he does best.]]

** Vegeta gets hit with this hard in the ''Super'' manga adaptation. In the anime, Goku and Vegeta are statically equals. Goku only manages to surpass Vegeta because he can combine [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Blue with the Kaioken and can take it up to times ten]]. In the manga, Goku can freely become a Super Saiyan God, which is stronger than Vegeta as a Super Saiyan Blue, ''and'' he can transform into a Super Saiyan Blue, which is stronger than Super Saiyan God. Apparently, this is because Super Saiyan Blue drains a massive amount of energy per transformation and it caused Vegeta to lose ''90%'' of his power since he transformed once in front of Cabba and transformed again to fight Hit. So both Vegeta and ''Super Saiyan Blue'' got this trope.

Goku only manages to surpass Vegeta because he can combine [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Blue with the Kaioken and can take it up to times ten]]. In the manga, Vegeta not only loses to Hit as rapidly as in the anime but it's revealed that Goku can freely become a is able to dominate Hit using Super Saiyan God, a form which is stronger than Vegeta has never shown he could access and that is markedly weaker than Blue. Subverted in this arc as it's revealed that Blue has a major stamina weakness and using it multiple times reduces it's power to only about 10% of normal. Further averted in the Goku Black and Universal Tournament arcs. Vegeta not only shows he can use Super Saiyan God but develops a way to shift between God and Blue a huge number of times in order to bring out the best in both forms. While Goku gains the upperhand by completing Blue, ''and'' he can transform into a Super Saiyan Blue, which allowing him to compete if not defeat Merged Zamasu, their equilibrium is stronger than Super Saiyan God. Apparently, this is because Super Saiyan Blue drains a massive amount of energy per transformation and it caused restored in the next arc when Vegeta to lose ''90%'' of his power since he transformed once in front of Cabba and transformed again to fight Hit. ** Inverted with [[spoiler: Goku Black's]] manga incarnation. There's no reason for this to be here since in the anime, there's not even an explanation for Zamasu and Goku Black acting their plan on the initial timeline, and it was actually decried as a plothole multiple times. Since we don't know why Zamasu got obsessed with Goku in the original timeline in the anime, there's no point of comparison. The manga actually does better since it actually provides a reason for Zamasu to target Goku without involving time-loops.

** The manga version of [[spoiler: Goku Black]] actually makes him ''worse''. His motivation for [[spoiler:stealing Goku's body and killing him]] is even ''more'' petty: [[spoiler:he never met Goku ''at all'', only seeing him on Godtube fighting with Hit]]. Manga Black was also all too happy to [[spoiler: kill Gowasu for a third time and brag about it to his dying master, while Anime Black was professional to the point of being impersonal]]. On top of that, Manga Black actively tries to kill [[spoiler: Gowasu and U7's Supreme Kai]], while Anime Black loses interest in them.

*** His disliked towards Goku also has no justification in the manga. In the anime, Zamasu's [[StartOfDarkness fall into darkness]] was caused by Goku beating him in a sparring match, which shattered Zamasu's already fragile mental state since he couldn't believe that a mortal could be so powerful. Learning that Goku had a god form and he wasn't anywhere near his full power only pushed him further over the edge. In the manga, he gets triggered by Goku by just watching Godtube and hearing from U7's Supreme Kai about him killing Majin Buu.
*** Also, because he never met Goku in the manga, Zamasu doesn't have a real trigger for his StartOfDarkness. He seems to [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope jump off the slippery slope]] for no real reason outside of the Planet Babari trip, while the anime heavily hints that Zamasu wouldn't have acted on his desires (at least not until he became an official Supreme Kai) if he never met Goku given what we have seen of Future Zamasu. It also takes longer for anime Zamasu to turn since Gowasu has several heart-to-hearts with Zamasu and Zamasu himself only wants the gods to be more active in stopping mortals from abusing their power, not necessarily destroy them until he meets Goku. Manga Zamasu, however, always wanted to kill mortals or 'unnecessary beings' and only have one real heart-to-heart to Gowasu about his views. Him watching the tournament between U6 and U7 was also accidental in the anime since it was Gowasu watching the stream and Zamasu walked in on him while serving tea. In the manga, Zamasu watched the tournament himself, along with asking about the Super Dragon Balls.

*** His relationship with Goku is very different between mediums. In the manga, Black never got to personally know Goku. Instead, [[spoiler: Zamasu decides to steal his body after indirectly hearing about him from U7's Supreme Kai and seeing Goku fight on Godtube]]. So when he does meet Goku, he's more annoyed and has no real personal connection towards him. In the anime, Black very much has a [[{{Yandere}} love/hate]] relationship with Goku. He deeply admires Goku to the point of trying to copy his mannerisms, fighting style, and sees him as the only true WorthyOpponent. At the same time, he hates Goku for being a powerful mortal who can challenge the gods and [[spoiler: for beating him in a sparring match]]. He despises Goku so much that he [[spoiler: killed him and his entire family upon stealing his body out of spite]].

* EvilIsPetty: Just like his anime counterpart, [[spoiler: Present Zamasu takes Goku's body using the Super Dragon Balls and kills him with it]]. However, unlike the anime, [[spoiler: Zamasu ''never'' meets Goku. He only saw his fight with Hit on Godtube and hated Goku for being a powerful mortal]]. This [[UpToEleven surpasses]] even [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] in pettiness.

** While Anime Zamasu remains [[NervesOfSteel relatively cool]] when confronting by Beerus to the point of giving the God of Destruction a DeathGlare before his [[spoiler: execution]], Manga Zamasu has a horrified expression before Beerus [[spoiler: kills him]].
** Manga Black suffers a noticeable one after Vegeta goes Super Saiyan Blue and proceeds to beat the crap out of him, while giving him a vicious TheReasonYouSuckSpeech just like the anime. He had yet another one after Vegeta trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and beat him up as a Super Saiyan God (he was using the form to save energy while he 'attacked' as a Super Saiyan Blue like Goku's Kaioken from the Frieza Saga).
* WastefulWishing: In the bonus chapter, we learned that the Future Pilaf Gang made their wish for youth just minutes before Piccolo died to the androids, and Gohan and Bulma were rushing to the Dragon Balls' location to make a wish to revived everyone who was killed by the androids. Although Bulma and Gohan's wish wouldn't have amounted to much since Goku died from natural causes and couldn't be revived, and Vegeta was already revived once by the Earth's Dragon Balls and couldn't be wished back again, their wish would have been more beneficial than Pilaf's self-serving wish.

How is Black supposed to know of Beerus's incompetence and even with it, one glance of the state of their universe and it's goodbye for Black. It's always better to be safe than sorry

* PlotHole:
** Black is very happy when [[spoiler: Future Supreme Kai dies since that means Beerus is dead]]. He refers to Beerus as the most troublesome god. However, this statement really doesn't make sense since the bios for the other Gods of Destruction and the mortal ranking indicates that Beerus is horrible at his job. Gods like Iwen, Arak, Liquir, Gin, and Belmod are much more active in patrolling their universe and eliminating mortals that go out of control. Khai, U10 Supreme Kai, even has Toppo, a God of Destruction candidate, around as his bodyguard. So those gods should give Black more trouble than Beerus who spends most of him time eating and sleeping. He wasn't even aware of Majin Buu slaughtering the Supreme Kais in his universe.

Vegeta would have outright killed him if [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] didn't save him. He only starts acting smug again after he gains his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose form and stomps Vegeta]]. In fact, the only real reason why he didn't get squashed like a bug in the wake of Vegeta and Goku and made it as far as he did was luck and little else.

In the anime, Goku is understanding and sympathetic to Gohan not wanting to train and fight, even going as far as support Gohan when he says he can't go to the tournament since he has a conference the same day. In the manga, Goku's voices disappointment and is dismissive towards Gohan being part of the Universe 7 team, going as far as calling Gohan a little shit when Videl tells him that Gohan had a conference and couldn't watch the tournament.
* TooDumbToLive: The aliens who thought it was a good idea to try and poison Beerus. Then when that fails...they try to kill him with crossbows.
* TooDumbToLive: U7's Supreme Kai actually attacks ''[[spoiler: Goku Black]]'' for [[spoiler: stabbing Gowasu]]. The same Black who can easily beat up Goku and Vegeta even with their god powers. [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] rightfully calls him a moron and he only lives because Goku and Vegeta returned to the future just in time.
* TrashTalk: Manga [[spoiler: Goku Black]], however, talks crap to everyone, especially Vegeta. Funny enough, [[spoiler: Goku Black's]] battle record in the manga is much poorer than his anime counterpart.

** In the anime, when Zamasu mutates into Infinite Zamasu as a result of his immortality, he has become an AlmightyIdiot and isn't capable of speech aside from mad laughter or fear when he is about to get erased by Zen'O. In the manga however, he still retains his sanity and is still capable of speech even when he mutates into his Infinite form [[note]]Which in this version, is basically him duplicating himself into multiple Fused Zamasus[[/note]], even point blank declares to Goku that he could TimeTravel to the past when they tried to ran away and upon seeing Zen'O, he show complete fear and ran away as he and his armies are about to be erased from existence.

* DirtyCoward: Goku Black comes off as this since he brags about how he [[spoiler: murdered the gods while fighting Vegeta and how his word is now law. Goku points out that Black technically cheated since he didn't fight the Gods of Destruction and just killed the weaker Supreme Kais since their lives are linked. Black shoots back that the method doesn't matter]]. While Black in the anime did the same thing, he comes off less cowardly and more pragmatic since no one calls him out for 'cheating' and he didn't used the [[spoiler: death of the gods]] as a BadassBoast. Also in the manga, Black [[spoiler: chose Future Trunks' timeline because Beerus died thanks to Future Dabura killing all the Supreme Kais and Goku and the others are long dead, leaving no one powerful enough to stop him]]. Which makes Black look like a bully since he torments Trunks to get stronger, after he purposely avoided anyone who could challenged him. Black having a VillainousBreakdown as Vegeta beats him up highlights this trait. Also, when Gowasu and the U7's Supreme Kai saves Future Trunks and Mai, he becomes scared that they may tell Zen'o what happened, so [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] and he are ready to flee into another timeline. In the anime, Black never mentions Zen'o, although it's unclearly if he simply didn't [[FearlessFool fear]] Zen'o or he did't think he would interfere.

* HairTriggerTemper: Manga Black loses his temper very easily. He goes into rage just because Super Saiyan God Vegeta is smirking at him, saying how he hats that [[{{Hypocrite}} arrogant look]]. When Vegeta keeps easily dodging and hitting him, he starts screaming for him to stop smile.
* HardWarkingHardlyWorks: Averted with Future Trunks, who has powered up to the point of being an even match for [=SSJ3=] Goku, only losing their sparing match because Goku used his god form.
* HateSink: The manga version of Goku Black falls into this. While Anime Black managed to remain likable despite being an utter monster because of his calm and somewhat charming personality, Manga Black is an outright prick who has [[VillainousBreakdown tantrums]] when things don't go his way and seems to only get ahead because he's a [[SmugSnake lucky bastard]]. It's obvious that Toei was going for a villain that the audience would LoveToHate, while Toyotaro created a villain we wanted to see burn in Hell, ASAP.
* HealingHands:
** In the ''Super'' manga, [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] has the ability to heal just like Kibito-Kai.
** Also from the manga, since Future Trunks was trained as a Supreme Kai's attendance he gains the ability to heal people with his hands. * HeroKiller: [[spoiler: Future Dabura kills Kibito, the Supreme Kai, and indirectly kills Old Kai by shattering the Z-Sword, which then indirectly kills Beerus since all the Supreme Kais in U7 are dead, making him one of the most successful villains in the series]].
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: While Gowasu in the anime is aware of Zamasu's issues and tries to help him, manga Gowasu is completely unaware that Zamasu hates mortals until he sliced the Babarian in half. In fact, it's implied that Gowasu chose Zamasu as his successor based purely on [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority his battle power]]. Later, he confronts Zamasu himself [[spoiler: who became Goku Black]] with no backup and tries to convince him to repent for his crimes. This ends with him [[spoiler: being impaled by Black who [[TheFarmerAndTheViper pretended to take his offer]]]].

* Hypocrite: Zamasu and his counterparts are huge ones.
** [[spoiler: Goku Black]] looks down on mortals and thinks they all deserve to be destroyed, yet he [[spoiler: steals Goku's body in order to attain a perfect form]].Even more, in the manga, he let mortals like Future Dabura and Babidi kill U7's Supreme Kai. Then, after Future Trunks flees the timeline and with all the gods in his time dead, [[BloodKnight he becomes bored without anyone to oppose him]] — just like how he and Zamasu believe mortals can't go on without war and destruction]].
** [[spoiler: Goku Black]] hates Vegeta because he finds him an arrogant prick. This is coming from the same person who bullied Future Trunks for over a year and rubbed his face in about him being weak. He also declares himself to be beyond any mortal after he obtained his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rosé form]].
** [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] mocks Goku and Vegeta for being arrogant when they fought his components. You know, the same [[spoiler: Goku Black and Future Zamasu]] who were both {{Smug Super}}s and {{Smug Snake}}s. Not to mention he has an ego bigger than both of them combined.
* IveComeTooFar: [[spoiler: Goku Black]] says this word by word to [[spoiler: Gowasu]] when he begs him to come back to his senses and make amends for what he has done.
* IdiotBall:
** In Chapter 13 of the ''Super'' manga, Vegeta lost 90% of his power when fighting Hit since he transformed too many times into Super Saiyan Blue, which severely sap his stamina. What makes Vegeta an idiot is that the transformation only saps stamina when transforming, meaning that Vegeta would've kept his power if just stayed transformed after showing off to Cabba. Since Vegeta trained with Super Saiyan Blue for over four years, he should have known better.
** The manga also, unfortunately, gives one to [[spoiler: Goku Black]]. [[spoiler: In the manga, he was watching Future Trunks fight Future Dabura, making sure the Supreme Kai died in the battle, assuring that Beerus will also die because the Supreme Kais and the Gods of Destruction are link. The idiot part comes in that he leaves after Trunks kills Dabura, instead of taking out a weakened and hurt Trunks, assuring that he would have one less powerful enemy to deal with in the future. Given how [[CombatPragmatist pragmatic]] and [[NoNonsenseNemesis no nonsense]] Goku Black have shown himself to be, especially in the anime, his inaction against Trunks is out of character for him]]. The manga draw further contrast to the anime by Black telling Trunks to his face that he's keeping him alive to get stronger and even [[BondVillainStupidity spares Trunks when he has the chance to kill him]].
** The manga gives Black another one in the way that it doesn't explain why Black never wanted immortality. In the anime, Black doesn't want to be an immortal since he just wants power and losing the ability to die would eventually make him rusty and [[ChallengeSeeker battles no fun]]. While shortsighted, the reason why Black feels this way while none of his other counterparts share this view is because [[spoiler: [[TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody Goku's body corrupted him]] and he's taken on several of Goku's [[BloodKnight character traits]]]]. In the manga, Black acts more like his true self [[spoiler: Zamasu]]. Outside of having Goku's battle lust, he is still [[spoiler: basically Zamasu in personality]] so he should want immortality like [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]]. The manga not explaining or discussing Black's mindset on this matter makes him look like an idiot to the point that even [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] indirectly throw spades at Black for [[spoiler: abandoning his godly body for power]].
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Black [[spoiler: impales Gowasu after he offers his LastSecondChance]].
* InTheirOwnImage: [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] outright says he will kill everything that isn't himself.
* InfoDump:
** The ''Super'' manga in general has this problem. Because it only has so many pages to convey information over a month, any plot details are often dumped into long dialog boxes between characters. It's to the point that character development gets sideline in favor of long lines of info, with the characters some times repeating themselves or the same info being said in a different way by another character: like Jaco explaining why time travel is dangerous and then having Trunks' teacher repeat the same information with a more detail example.
** While the mystery of [[spoiler: Goku Black]] is slowly unveiled through several episodes and twists in the anime, the ''Super'' manga dumps all the information about Black into one chapter.
* ItsAllAboutMe: [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] gleefully declares that he will wipe out anyone that isn't himself across all timelines.
--> '''[[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]]''': The gods of millions of planets scattered across the universe, Lord of worlds in all four directions, Supreme Kais in all 12 universes, and the Gods of Destruction, they are all unnecessary! Every single intelligent life that isn't myself shall be terminated!

** In the ''Super'' manga, Champa is [[AdaptationalVillainy portrayed]] as this. While Beerus causes chaos on Earth during the Battle of Gods Saga, Champa is flying around with Vados searching for the Super Dragon Balls, and giving grief to Old Kai and the Supreme Kai who don't know what he wants. He also tells Sorbet to revive Frieza just to troll Beerus. In the anime, Champa doesn't even appear until the Resurrection 'F' Saga and he has nothing to do with Frieza or his revival.
** Also in the manga, [[spoiler: Goku Black was watching Future Trunks battle against Future Dabura, making sure the Supreme Kai of U7 died along with Beerus]].

* AdaptationDyeJob: Bulma's hair is purple here, while it was blue in the ''Dragon Ball Z''.

* BlackComedy: It's revealed that the Future Pilaf Gang made their wish for youth just before Piccolo died to the androids, and Bulma and Gohan were rushing to use the wish to revived everyone killed by the androids. Although the subject matter is dark and cruelly ironic, the chapter is PlayedForLaughs and the final shot is baby Pilaf and the others trying to escape, while Gohan cries in the background over the inert Dragon Balls.

* BondVillainStupidity:
** In the manga, [[spoiler: Goku Blacks]] falls for many of the same failings as Perfect Cell. He keeps Future Trunks alive for the sake of growing stronger and [[BloodKnight because he enjoys fighting]], while anime Black tries to kill Trunks [[CombatPragmatist whenever he gets the chance]], although he doesn't hunt Trunks as much as he should.
** [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu's]] manga counterpart is even worse than his anime self. Much like in the anime, he could have easily killed Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks upon [[spoiler: fusing]], but choses to toy with them. ''Unlike'' his anime counterpart, he ''still'' screws around with them even after [[spoiler: Vegito Blue]] smashed him into the ground. What makes this even worse is that he knows that he has an [[spoiler: one hour time limit since he isn't a full Supreme Kai]], yet he still waste time.
* BookDumb: Goku gets exactly 50% of the qualification exam questions correct, the minimum needed to pass. Buu fails the test, but it's unclear if he even tried to answer the questions.
* TheBully: Manga Black comes off as this since [[spoiler: he ran away from his original timeline since he was a weakling who couldn't properly used Goku's body. To get stronger, he bullied Future Trunks for over a year]]. When he finally meets someone who can beat him up, [[VillainousBreakdown he whines and cries about it]] and only becomes [[SmugSnake smug]] again when he has the advantage.
* CallBack: Future Trunks [[spoiler: pulls the Z-Sword and practiced with, much like Gohan during the Buu Saga. He even wears Kai clothing like Gohan during that time. Dabura kills Kibito the same way he did in the main timeline. The Future Supreme Kai also binds Dabura, allowing Trunks to kill him, similar to what the Supreme Kai did to Super Saiyan 2 Gohan so Babidi's men could drain his energy]].
* ChallengeSeeker: Goku Black is closer to Cell and Super Buu in this regard. He only likes fighting people he knows he can beat. Once he's overpowered, he starts to [[VillainousBreakdown whine]].
* ColdBloodedTorture: [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] swears to make Vegeta suffer until his body can't take anymore before finally deciding to end his misery.
* CombatPragmatist: When Future Zamasu realizes that [[spoiler:Goku managed to heal Vegeta using a Senzu Bean, he snatched the bag from him and burns it, preventing them from healing any further]].
* CompressedAdaptation: The manga finished the entire Beerus and Super Frieza arc in ''4 chapters''. In fact, the Resurrection F events weren't even shown, and only told through narrative text. This is likely so they could get to the Champa arc more quickly and the same author already did a compressed telling of ''Resurrection 'F'''.
* ContrivedCoincidence: Because the ''Super'' manga is a monthly publication, it has to cram a lot of information and events into one chapter. Meaning certain events and information that are spread out through several anime episodes can get rammed together or altered into one chapter, which can make certain events happen because of coincidences:
** In Chapter 14, just before Future Trunks makes his return to the present, Bulma just happens to be messing around with time travel for makeup products, for some reason. Jaco is there to tell her the dangers of time travel and split timelines. On the side, we see Trunks and the Pilaf gang's teacher talking about time travel and how drastic different timelines can be. Future Trunks also returns when everyone happens to be a Capsule Corp [[spoiler: celebrating their victory over U6]].
** Also on the day Future Trunks comes to the present, the Supreme Kai of U7 happens to be visiting U10. Zamasu congratulates the Supreme Kai and Kibito for defeating Majin Buu, saying how much he admires them (keep in mind, Kid Buu died over five years ago at this point). The Supreme Kai corrects him, saying it was actually a bunch of mortals who killed Buu. This disturbs Zamasu since he never thought mortals could surpass gods.
** Chapter 18 of the manga runs on contrived coincidences where everyone figures out Black's origins thanks to [[spoiler: Zamasu specifically asking Zuno if it was possible to switch bodies with a mortal using the Super Dragon Balls. This allows Trunks to figure out that Zamasu must have traded bodies with Goku after speaking with Kibito, who Goku decides to ask about Black (who sparred with Zamasu in an earlier chapter) for no real reason. Whis also has a picture of Goku Black, somehow, and guessed that he's a Supreme Kai based on his different color earrings and correctly figures out that Zamasu learned from Goku from the U6 tournament]].
** Because the manga doesn't have the StableTimeLoop that leads to [[spoiler: Goku Black's]] creation, Future Trunks returning to the past just in time to stop [[spoiler: Zamasu from using the Super Dragon Balls to steal Goku's body]] is this since Trunks coming just a little too soon or too late would have prevented Beerus from [[spoiler: killing Zamasu]] and figuring out who Black is.
* CurbstompBattle: [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu is utterly stomped by Vegito Blue. The only reason why he isn't killed is because of his immorality]].

** Like his [[Characters/DragonBallGokuBlack mortal component]] in the manga, [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] isn't as impressive as his anime counterpart. For one, his fusion didn't bring a halo, and most of his techniques are fairly standard powers the Supreme Kai has done in the past. His [[AdaptationPersonalityChange personality is changed too]], with him fighting with a defensive fighting style, similar to [[spoiler: Present Zamasu]] in the anime, compared with his anime counterpart who loved to show his abilities by hovering above those beneath him. And worse, [[spoiler: Gowasu explains the fusion is temporary because Zamasu isn't a true Supreme Kai since he usurp his position]]. On the bright side, unlike his anime counterpart, his [[spoiler: immortality is left fully intact]].

* ApocalypseHow: Exaggerated here regarding Goku Black's rampage across Future Trunks' timeline, as it's implied that Trunks and Mai are the last humans left alive on Earth.
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Zamasu's promotion is actually criticized as this by Whis. As he puts it, Gowasu should have chosen his successor based on their compassion and not just based on their fighting strength.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Super Saiyan Blue in the manga version of ''Super''. Overall, it comes off as more powerful than its anime counterpart in raw strength, but it comes at the cost of being a major energy drain to the point that you lose 90% of your power if you transform too many times and its full power can only be maintain for a short time. It is basically a more powerful version of Super Saiyan 3. When Goku does mastered the form by keeping his energy within himself, he becomes so powerful that he can fight [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] on almost equal footing. However, this causes a rapid breakdown in Goku's body making this form similar to [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Blue/Kaioken]] from the anime.
* BadLiar: When Zamasu sees Beerus and Whis who asked where he's been all morning, he's clearly flustered and tries to say he was helping his fellow lower gods. When that lie is caught, he stumbles over why he [[spoiler: attacked Zuno, asked about Goku, and gods switching bodies with mortals]]. This is in contrast to his anime counterpart who has shown himself to be a ConsummateLiar.
* BattleOfWits: It's theorized that Goku can beat Botamo with brute force if he goes all out. Instead, Goku choses to knock Botamo over, drag him to the end of the stage, and flip him out of the ring.
* BigDamnHeroes: Gowasu uses the Time Ring to go to the future and rescues Future Trunks and Mai from [[spoiler: Goku Black]] and takes them to the World of the Kais.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: While Zamasu in the anime starts out as a well-meaning Kai who has a very strict sense of justice and a strong distrust towards mortals, manga Zamasu was always a jerk since he wanted to kill mortals from the start, seeing them as unneeded beings. Unlike the anime version who [[SlowlySlippingIntoEvil slowly slipped into evil]] through a series of events, manga Zamasu gets triggered just seeing powerful mortals and decides [[spoiler: to kill his master and commit mass genocide]].
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: Future Trunks prevents Majin Buu's awakening, and kills Dabura and Babidi. However, Kibito and the Supreme Kai dies in the battle, the Z-Sword was petrified and broken by Dabura, killing Old Kai, which leads to Beerus' death since his life is directly linked with the Supreme Kais. To add further bitterness, Goku Black was watching everything, making sure that the Supreme Kai dies]].

A manga adaptation is being serialized monthly in ''V-Jump'', written by Toriyama and drawn by Toyotarō, who previously created the ''VideoGame/DragonballHeroes'' spin-off manga ''Victory Mission''. As ''Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF'' was adapted in ''V-Jump'' just prior to the start of ''Super'', the manga skips from the Battle of Gods arc to the Champa arc.

----
!The ''Dragon Ball Super'' manga contains examples of:
* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] has a time limit of one hour, [[spoiler: just like Vegito]], since he isn't a true Supreme Kai.
* AdaptedOut: The manga completely skips over the Resurrection F Saga, but the events that occurred within it are brought up from time to time.
* AdaptationalBadass:
** Zigzagged by Frost. He fares a lot better against Super Saiyan Goku in the manga, even if it's clear Goku is still stronger. However, he does overall worse against Piccolo who comes close to overpowering him, where in the anime Piccolo stood ''no'' chance against Frost even after Goku weakened him and had to outsmart him.
** Also zigzagged by Piccolo. In the anime, he puts up a magnificent fight against Frost despite not being on the same level of power. In the manga, he seems to have more raw power, but doesn't use any advanced battle tactics and his performance is comparatively lackluster.
** Future Trunks, who in the ''Super'' manga is more powerful than his anime counterpart. In the anime, Future Trunks is about as powerful as Super Saiyan 2 Goku and Vegeta in the Buu Saga if we used his fight against [[spoiler: Future Dabura]]. Manga Trunks has a [[spoiler: mutated Super Saiyan 2 form that is almost on par with Super Saiyan 3 Goku]]. Instead of using Super Saiyan 3 to knock Trunks out, Goku uses Super Saiyan God. Also, [[spoiler: he trained with the Supreme Kai and pulled the Z-Sword. Even better, he fights Dabura with it, before he [[SuperSpit spits]] on it and shatters it, killing Old Kai]].
** [[spoiler: Future Dabura]] in the ''Super'' manga is far more impressive than his anime counterpart. [[spoiler: Not only did he kill Kibito and the Supreme Kai of the future, but he broke the Z-Sword by spiting on it, turning it to stone, and then shattering, killing Old Kai who was still trapped, which indirectly killed Beerus since his life is linked with the Supreme Kais. Future Trunks only won because the Supreme Kai used the last of his strength to hold Dabura down so Trunks could kill him]].
** Zigzagged: While he's weaker than [[spoiler: Goku Black]] in both mediums, the manga gives [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] all of Kibito-Kai's abilities like telekinesis, the [[HealingHands ability to heal others]], and the ability to paralyze the movements of others. He used these to easily freeze [[spoiler: Goku during their fight]]. At the same time, the manga portrays him as a weaker fighter compared to the anime version, being taken down by Goku and resorting to his [[spoiler: immortality almost immediately]] whereas in the anime he can still fight and inconvenience Goku in an 1-on-1 fight for a while, and even hold down Goku and Future Trunks simultaneously. In fact, according to Goku, he's way weaker than even Super Saiyan 2 Trunks and he gets overwhelmed by Super Saiyan God Goku after he used the [[spoiler: Evil Containment Wave]].
** From what little we hear from Future Trunks, the anime version of the Supreme Kai isn't that different from his present counterpart. He's more successful stopping Buu thanks to Trunks not fooling around like his [[ArrogantKungFuGuy father]] and [[IdiotHero Goku]]. In the manga of ''Super'', he fought with Trunks against Dabura and [[spoiler: he made Trunks into a Supreme Kai disciple, which allowed Trunks to gain healing powers (although he didn't know).]]
* AdaptationDistillation: The ''Super'' manga to the TV series due to it being an monthly publication:
** It cuts down or abridges some of the details from the anime while adding some scenes that are not in the show, such as the birthday cake incident, the Supreme Kai and Kibito defusing earlier, and Champa being seen much sooner.
** The manga completely skips the Resurrection 'F' arc, going straight to the Champa Saga after the Battle of Gods Saga.
** The fight between Piccolo and Frost only takes up a few pages in the manga before Frost [[spoiler: cheats]] to win the match. In the anime, the first half of episode is devoted to Frost and Piccolo's fight. The conclusion of the tournament and the summoning of the Super Dragon Balls is also less than a chapter long, while the anime version had an entire episode.
** In the Future Trunks Saga, [[spoiler: Goku Black]] never comes to the past. Instead, Zamasu learns about Goku indirectly from U7's Supreme Kai, who was visiting U10, when asked about Majin Buu. He then become obsessed with Goku after watching Godtube videos of him. Beerus and Whis learn most of their information about Black from Future Trunks and suspects that he's connected to the gods since he [[spoiler: murdered all the Supreme Kais to kill the Gods of Destruction, something that only high-leveled gods know]]. The entire mystery of Black's identity is condense into one chapter via InfoDump and the characters makes two trips to the past instead of the three like the anime. Vegeta's beat down of Black is also a combination of Goku's first match with Black from Episode 50 and Vegeta's third rematch with Black from Episode 63.
* AdaptationExpansion: Although events in the ''Super'' manga usually falls into AdaptationDistillation since it is a monthly publication, it does some times expand on storylines that are glossed over in the anime:
** Vegeta's fight with Frost is much longer in the manga. In the anime, Vegeta literally one-shots Frost. In the manga, Vegeta beats on Frost for several pages and knocks him unconscious for the rest of the tournament.
** The second fight between Future Trunks and [[spoiler: Goku Black]] is longer in the manga. In the anime, [[spoiler: Goku Black]] takes Trunks down quickly after allowing one free hit, while in the manga, they fight for several panels and [[spoiler: Goku Black uses more of Goku's moves like the Instant Transmission]].
** Chapter 16 tells what happens during Future Trunks' struggle to prevent Majin Buu's awakening. Trunks trains with the Z-Sword and takes out Pui Pui and Yakon off-screen. [[spoiler: Kibitio dies, making Trunks ascend to Super Saiyan 2, the Z-Sword is destroyed by Dabura, killing Old Kai, the Supreme Kai is fatally injured and eventually dies of his injures, but not before he holds down Dabura, giving Trunks the killing shot. Since all the Supreme Kais are dead, Beerus also dies. Goku Black is also watching all of this from the distance]].
** The manga shows Black earning his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose]] form. He started off with a standard [[spoiler: Super Saiyan 2 transformation]] and battles Vegeta, who kicks his butt and [[spoiler: have to be saved by Future Zamasu]]. Taking advantage of the Saiyans' ability to grow stronger from near-death, he becomes stronger and is able to beat back Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta with just his [[spoiler: Saiyan Saiyan 2]] form. To show off his evolution, he transforms into his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose]].
** The fight with [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] is longer than the anime. While [[spoiler: Goku and Vegeta fusing was the climax before Future Trunks slices Merged Zamasu's body, the manga keeps the fight going long after Vegeta and Goku defused with Goku fighting Merged Zamasu solo for a second time]].
** From what little Future Trunks tells us in the anime, the Supreme Kai's role is the same as his present counterpart, coming to Earth to warn about Majin Buu's revival. This is not the case with Future Supreme Kai in the manga, [[spoiler: who made Trunks into a Supreme Kai disciple, which allowed him to gain healing powers]].
* AdaptationalIntelligence:
** Inverted with [[spoiler: Goku Black's]] manga incarnation. He is more likely to grab the IdiotBall such as not killing Future Trunks after he's weakened from fighting Future Dabura and actually spares Trunks' life again because he wants to keep fighting him, while anime Black is far more [[CombatPragmatist pragmatic]] and [[NoNonsenseNemesis no-nonsense]] since he tries to kill Trunks every chance he gets and even traps him in the past by [[spoiler: destroying the Time Machine]].
** Zigzag. In the manga, Gowasu is far more aware that there is something wrong with Zamasu. He notes while Zamasu's fighting skills are top-notch, his personality needs work. In the anime, Gowasu knows about the conflict in Zamasu's heart about mortals and the role of the gods, but thinks that if giving time and enough guidance Zamasu will come to understand his role as a Supreme Kai. At the same time, manga Gowasu seems to have only chose Zamasu as his successor based on his [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority fighting power]] and almost nothing else, something Whis lampshades. In fact, Gowasu is blindsided by how much Zamasu hates mortals and doesn't understand his role as an upcoming Supreme Kai. In the anime, while Zamasu's power is a factor, Gowasu seems to have chosen Zamasu mostly because of his pure-heart and strong sense of justice, which are good qualities to have in a Supreme Kai. Where anime Gowasu messed up is that he doesn't seem to be aware of PureIsNotGood and BlackAndWhiteInsanity.
* AdaptationalJerkass:
** Beerus' much harsher towards Gowasu in the manga about choosing Zamasu as his successor. In the anime, he simply tells Gowasu to chose his students more wisely after Gowasu apologizes for everything that has happened. In the manga, Beerus not only tells Gowasu to picks his students better, but threatens to ''destroy'' him if this happens again or at the very least beat the crap out of him. Also, when he confronts Zamasu in the anime he refuses to act despite all the evidences since he needed more hard proof of wrongdoing since Zamasu is the successor of a Supreme Kai from another universe. To that end he lets [[spoiler: Zamasu kill Gowasu and has Whis rewind time]], giving Zamasu the benefit of the doubt. In the manga, once U7's Supreme Kai confirmed that he [[spoiler: messed up Future Trunks' world, he declares that he can destroy him]], while adding that he didn't really need a reason since he's a God of Destruction. He also doesn't bother to explain to Gowasu what's going on with Zamasu before [[spoiler: killing him]].
** Champa and Vados are more villainous in the ''Super'' manga compared to the anime. In the manga, Champa gives Sorbet the idea to revive Frieza just to troll Beerus when no such thing happens in the anime. There is also no mention of the birthday cake incident where Vados set up Beerus and Champa to fight, which leads to several planets being destroyed. Champa is also overall nicer, treating Goku and Vegeta with some degree of respect and even shares food with them.
** [[spoiler: Present]] Zamasu gets a few:
*** A minor example. In the anime, when Zamasu slices the Babarian in half, he has a [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone shocked, almost horrified expression]] on his face. He is so ashamed that he doesn't try to defend himself when Gowasu tells him off, [[IgnoredEpiphany at least until later]]. His attack on the Babarian also come off as almost instinctual. In the manga, Zamasu not only purposely cut the Babarian in half, he did it with a SlasherSmile and seems shocked that Gowasu didn't approved of his actions. When Gowasu confronts him about this, Zamasu dismisses his concerns since 'that mortal was trash'. Later, [[spoiler: just before he tries to kill Gowasu]] he indirectly admits that his actions are evil, but they will [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans eventually lead to good]]. Manga Zamasu scoffs at the notion that anything he does is evil.
** The manga version of [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] is also worse than his anime counterpart. In the anime, despite his huge ego and calling himself the 'supreme god' of the multiverse, he does somewhat regret [[spoiler: killing his fellow gods and sees taking Goku's body]] as his duty so he can always remember the sins of mortals and the failure of the gods. He even shed tears over his 'burden'. Manga [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] declares that any intelligent life that isn't himself will be destroyed, god and mortal. He also mocks Gowasu and the Supreme Kai as lower gods. Finally, after his long battle with Goku and the others, he decides to just [[RageQuit nuke]] the entire galaxy to be rid of them.
* AdaptationalKarma: In the anime, Black is an InvincibleVillain who never lost a fight and a KarmaHoudini who [[spoiler: fused with Future Zamasu so he never paid for his crimes as an individual]]. Manga Black isn't so lucky. He gets beating and humiliated by Vegeta twice and driven in a VillainousBreakdown.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy
** While far from the GoodCounterpart he was built up to be [[spoiler: Frost is less of a BitchInSheepsClothing in the ''Super'' manga. In the manga he still poisons Goku and Piccolo to win his matches, but he did it because he's in a hurry to win since there is no prize money involved in the tournament. He is also not a planet broker, as far as we know]].
** In the anime, [[spoiler: Champa planned on killing all of the Universe 6 fighters for losing and disgracing his universe. In the manga, he's only angry with Hit (and it's unknown if he even planned on killing him) and it's because Hit threw the match on purpose against Monaka]].
** An extremely minor example. In the anime, [[spoiler: Goku Black]] not only [[spoiler: killed Goku upon taking his body, but he also murdered Goten and Chi-Chi out of spite]]. In the manga version, he [[spoiler: only kills Goku]].
** Minor examples for Goku and Vegeta in the Future Trunks Saga:
*** In the anime, Vegeta wants to fight and kill [[spoiler: Goku Black]] because he [[spoiler: murdered his future wife]] and tortured his future son. He's also fighting for the sake of Trunks' world to the point that he states to [[spoiler: Goku Black]] that he isn't fighting for himself even after [[spoiler: Goku Black]] [[CurbstompBattle humiliated]] him. [[spoiler: Goku Black]] lampshades how this doesn't sound like a Saiyan and even deduces that Vegeta got stronger from righteous fury. Against [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]], he willingly fights alongside Goku and even [[spoiler: fuses with him, although he says no at first and only relents when he learned that the Potara Fusion isn't permanent for mortals]]. In the manga, Vegeta wants to fight [[spoiler: Goku Black]] because he looks like [[spoiler: Goku]] and gets stronger to fight him again because [[spoiler: Goku Black]] kicked his butt after going [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rosé]]. He also does his usual TrashTalk to [[spoiler: Goku Black]] while Vegeta in the anime was dead serious to the point that [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness everyone took note of it]]. Most of all, Vegeta in the manga never fights alongside Goku to the point that they actually take ''turns'' fighting [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]]. He also absolutely refuses to [[spoiler: fused with Goku until he hears the Potara Fusion isn't permanent for mortals]] and Trunks give a speak about why he can't let Vegeta die. Overall, anime Vegeta was willing to put aside his pride and fight for the sake of others. Manga Vegeta in comparison wasn't, at least until Chapter 24 where Vegeta asked Trunks to heal Goku since he was the only one who could fight [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] as an equal since he mastered Super Saiyan Blue. Trunks even notes how Vegeta swallowed his pride.
*** Goku in the manga never takes [[spoiler: Goku Black and Future Zamasu]] completely seriously despite everything they did. Even hearing that [[spoiler: Goku Black]] killed his [[spoiler: alternate self]] is treated with some humor. He gives [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] several chances to walk away, while also mocking him for being a weakling who would lose to Future Trunks even with his [[spoiler: immortality]]. In the anime, while Goku does treats [[spoiler: Goku Black]] with some measure of respect, despite being disgusted by his mass destruction, he comes to despised [[spoiler: Goku Black and Future Zamasu]] after they bragged about how [[spoiler: Goku Black murdered him and his family after taking his body]]. After that, he offers ''no'' mercy and actually tries to kill [[spoiler: Goku Black]] when he's down.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange:
** Black from the manga is quite difference from his anime counterpart to the point that they can be classified as different characters:
*** In the anime, Black is a SmugSuper that always stays calm and never loses his composure, even when he started to lose against Vegeta, and is a clear NoNonsenseNemesis who will kill his opponents swiftly if giving the opportunity. On the contrary, in the manga, he is more prone to lose his composure the moment things don't go his way, such as Goku and Vegeta appearing in the future, and he goes into a VillainousBreakdown when Vegeta gains the upperhand. He is also more prone to holding the IdiotBall, like him sparing Future Trunks for the sake of fighting him and to gain better control of [[spoiler: Goku's body]]. Basically, Black in the manga acts more like his true self, [[spoiler: Zamasu]] with Goku's [[BloodKnight battle lust]], while Black in the anime behaves more like a mixture of Goku [[spoiler: and Zamasu's]] personalities. Namely, Black has Goku's [[NervesOfSteel calmness]].
*** His demeanor is also different between the two versions. In the anime, Black wears a MaskOfSanity and [[FauxAffablyEvil acts polite]] to those he slaughters and demeans. He will also [[CombatCompliment compliment]] his opponent if they impressed him, although this is usually only reserved for [[WorthyOpponent Goku]]. Manga Black doesn't bother to hide how AxCrazy he is, openingly relishes in his sadism, and doesn't think highly of anyone except himself. Manga Black also tends to shout and is a bit of [[LargeHam ham]], while Anime Black is a SoftSpokenSadist who almost never raises his voice, and when he does it's on the ColdHam side. Another big different between the two is how they react to pain. Anime Black is a straight CombatSadomasochist who giggles and smiles when hurt since getting injured makes him stronger. Manga Black gets stronger from being hurt too, but he ''doesn't'' like it.
*** This is also reflected in his fighting style. Manga Black fights more like a brute, is more aggressive, and his eyes as a [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose has a dark outline like Majin Vegeta]]. He also prefers to beat his opponent down with pure force instead of using a specific style. In comparison, Black in the anime fights with an air of elegant and indifference which is reflective in his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose form]] that is drawn more refined and ethereal even compared to [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Blue]]. He is also more flamboyance, talking about how beautiful his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rose is]], and he tends to go for quick critical hits instead of just beating his opponents into submission.
*** His relationship with Vegeta. In the manga, Black finds Vegeta annoying and [[{{Hypocrite}} arrogant]] after he manages to beat him twice and he takes great pleasure using his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rosé]] to clobber him up. In comparison, Black in the anime never takes Vegeta seriously even when he overwhelms him. To him, Vegeta is a [[WarmUpBoss warm-up or as he puts it 'an appetizer']].
*** His dynamic with [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] is also different. In the anime, Black is the calm one while [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] tends to be more emotional with all his {{Motive Rant}}s. He is also the one who has a VillainousBreakdown when Future Trunks [[spoiler: nearly seals him using the Evil Containment Wave]], while Black remained in control even when Vegeta temporarily overwhelmed him. In the manga, Black is the one who is more emotional while [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] is the calm one and seems to be the leader of the pair instead of the kindred spirits relationship from the anime. They even had infighting when Goku and Vegeta overwhelmed them with [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] blaming Black for everything and Black calling [[spoiler: Future Zamasu useless]] when they never once fought in the anime. Even Black turning down becoming an immortal was treated as a friendly disagreement that [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] eventually accepted. They also never worked together, preferring to fight on their own in the manga, while Black and [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] are very much a team in the anime to the point that Vegeta cities this as one of the major reasons they're unstoppable in a straight fight.
*** It is hinted in the manga by Goku that [[spoiler: Goku Black]] is a ManipulativeBastard who is just using [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] and has no real kinship towards him. Given [[spoiler: Future Zamasu's]] freak out and how [[spoiler: Goku Black]] called him useless, it probably has a grain of truth. In the anime, [[spoiler: Future Zamasu and Goku Black]] are a straight up team who has undying trust and care in one another.
*** Similar to [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]], he sees [[spoiler: killing the old gods]] as a [[NecessarilyEvil necessary evil]] to bring peace to the multiverse since the gods would never understand his ideals. When he tells Goku what he has done, he only takes pride in how powerful his body is to do such a task. When he tries to [[spoiler: kill Gowasu for the third time]] it's done in a matter-of-fact manner and in a way that would cause instant death since he still seems to have some level of respect for his old master. In the manga, Black uses [[spoiler: killing the gods]] as a BadassBoast and declares himself as justice. He also gleefully [[spoiler: impales Gowasu]] with a huge grin on his face after he seemingly accepted [[spoiler: Gowasu's peace offering]] to make amends. To add further salt to the wound, he brags to [[spoiler: Gowasu while he's dying about all the times he killed him]].
** [[spoiler: Present]] Zamasu also have several changes between the manga and anime:
*** Minor example. When confronted by Beerus, Whis, the Supreme Kai, and Goku for the second time, Zamasu manages to [[NervesOfSteel keep his cool]] the entire time and even wants to spar Goku again. When his [[spoiler: murder of Gowasu is revealed]], he tries to justify his actions calmly and doesn't bother to lie once they figured out most of his plan. In the manga, when Zamasu is confronted by Beerus and Whis he is noticeably nervous and stumbles to find an excuse about why he attacked Zuno. When his plans are revealed, he rants about his views of justice and [[spoiler: attacks ''[[TooDumbToLive Beerus]]'']]. Another small change, in the anime Zamasu is willing to admit that his actions are [[spoiler: evil, [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans but from that evil will come a greater justice]]]]. Manga Zamasu refuses to see anything he does as evil and mocks Beerus of all people about his justice.
*** His relationship with Gowasu is portrayed slightly differently between the two versions. While Zamasu initially respects Gowasu in both versions, manga Zamasu is more vocal about his opinions and scoffs at Gowasu's mindset about mortals and the role of the gods. In the anime, Zamasu talks about his conflict with Gowasu, wonders why the gods act the way they do, and is somewhat opened to Gowasu's views since he doesn't dismissed them right away. He only decides Gowasu and the other gods are being sinful because they're willing to do nothing while evil flourish because [[BalanceOfGoodAndEvil evil leads to justice]] and he can't accept or understand that the [[GodIsFlawed gods are also flawed]].
** A slight change between the anime and manga version of Gowasu. In the manga, Gowasu is much harsher towards Zamasu when he talks about killing mortals for peace, saying that Zamasu should know his place and how his arrogance will lead him to ruin if he doesn't shape up. He also does little to quell Zamasu's issues with mortals. He just tells him how the gods should act. In the anime, Gowasu is much softer when dealing with Zamasu's views. He tries to gently guide Zamasu to the right path and even agrees with him to a point about the [[HumansAreFlawed mortals]]. He attempts to quell Zamasu's issues by giving him his own viewpoint of good and evil and reminding Zamasu that the [[GodIsFlawed gods are not infallible]]. He also still show [[AlasPoorVillain sympathy]] for Zamasu even when he sees the monster he has become, while manga Gowasu reached his breaking point after [[spoiler: Goku Black impales him]].
** [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] is also a minor example. While [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] in the anime is very supportive of [[spoiler: Goku Black taking Goku's body]] and even wished he would gained immortality to make himself truly invincible, manga [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] appears to look down on [[spoiler: Goku Black for abandoning his godly body for power]]. In fact, he seems to only support [[spoiler: Goku Black]] because his [[spoiler: immortality]] alone can't kill all the mortals in the multiverse. His fighting style also differs between the two mediums. Much like [[spoiler: Goku Black]], Zamasu has a very elegant fighting style and tend to do quick attacks. He also has a bad habit of dropping his guard because [[spoiler: he's an immortal]], allowing weaker fighters like Super Saiyan 2 Trunks to tag him and will purposely jump in front of attacks meant for [[spoiler: Goku Black]] to protect him. In the manga, he has all of Kibito-Kai's attacks like telekinesis and the ability to paralyze his opponent. He usually fights other opponents to keep them away from Black so he can fight one-on-one.
** A {{Downplayed}} example. While both the anime and manga versions of [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] are egoistical {{Jerkass God}}s who wants to reshape the multiverse in their image in the name of 'justice', the anime version of [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] sees the [[spoiler: death of the old gods]] as a [[NecessarilyEvil regrettable step towards peace]]. He also takes [[spoiler: Goku's shell as his own]] so he can always remember the mistakes of the gods and even shed tears over all he's done. In the manga, [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] is a straight up asshole who doesn't give two craps about his fellow gods and happily wants to wipe out anyone that isn't himself and mocks Gowasu and U7's Supreme Kai as inferior gods. He's less about justice and more about becoming a multi-universal ruler. Another different is that Manga [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] fights on the ground and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty, using similarly defensive techniques like the anime version of [[spoiler: Present Zamasu]]. Anime [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] refuses to fight on the ground, choosing to hover above his opponents and hammers them with over-the-top energy attacks since mortals shouldn't touch a god. When he does directly confront the heroes it's because [[spoiler: he's having a mental and emotional breakdown]].
* AdaptationalUgliness:
** In the ''Super'' manga, Black is drawn more like a psycho with his {{Slasher Smile}}s and dark eye outlines much like Majin Vegeta. His body also have the same bulk as Goku. In the anime, Black is drawn more slender compared to Goku and have a softer appearance overall. He becomes even more attractive when he achieves his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan Rosé form]], something [[TheFightingNarcissist he's fully aware of]].
** Zigzag. Much like [[spoiler: Goku Black]], the manga version of [[spoiler: Merged Zamasu]] is drawn more like a brute and has a heavier built than [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]]. In the anime, he is drawn far more elegant and slender, until [[spoiler: Goku melts half of his face]] and his appearance becomes that of a [[spoiler: purple slime monster]].
* AdaptationalWimp:
** Botamo is tough in both the manga and anime, taking all of Goku's attacks with no damage. In the manga, Botamo's ability works like a rubber ball where he absorbs damage because everything bounces off of him like [[RubberMan Luffy]] from ''Manga/OnePiece''. In the anime, Botamo outright absorbs damage, sending it to another dimension. So while Botamo in the manga gets knocked around like a stress ball, Botamo in the anime doesn't even flinch when he's taking a hit. It also noted in the manga that Goku probably could have hurt Botamo with brute force by going Super Saiyan and not holding back. While in the anime, Goku says he probably would have lost in a standard fight, although it is not elaborated if Goku is referring to base or his Super Saiyan forms.
** Magetta gets a minor case of this in the ''Super'' manga. In the anime, Magetta gives Vegeta a hard fight and nearly rings him out twice thanks to his species' ability to produced and withstand heat, [[NighInvulnerability having a nearly indestructible body]] that can withstand a Final Flash from Super Saiyan Vegeta, and can drink and spit up lava. In the manga, Vados doesn't produce a second barrier, which greatly limits Magetta since he can't fly nor can he suffocate Vegeta with his heat. He does no real damage to Vegeta during their match and the entire fight is treated as a gag similar to the early ''Dragon Ball'' fights. Vegeta also get hit with the AdaptationalWimp since Super Saiyan Vegeta apparently can't lift 1000 tons.
** Hit is also not spared in the same manga chapter. In the anime, Hit was on par with Super Saiyan God Saiyan Goku, although he was overwhelmed once Goku learned how to counter his [[spoiler: time-skip]]. That is until Hit improved and [[spoiler: increased the time so he can freeze time, forcing Goku to use the Kaioken to counter it. Even then, it was an even match and Hit was holding back since he couldn't use any of his killing techniques. In the manga, Hit is overwhelmed by Super Saiyan God Goku and he doesn't improve. He has just been holding back and can only use his full power time-skip for a few minutes before burning out since he's out of practice, much like 100% Frieza on Namek]]. After Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan Blue, he has the match all but won, but forfeits since Hit can't use his killing techniques. Goku then tells Vegeta that he may have beating Hit if he didn't waste so much energy with Cabba.
** Even Goku underwent this in the ''Super'' manga. The reason he can use Super Saiyan God at will now is because he never absorbed its power during the manga's adaption of ''Battle of Gods''. This also keeps Goku (and Vegeta) around the same level of power they were in the Buu Saga, because the manga skips over ''Resurrection 'F''' and the Base Goku vs. 4th Form Frieza fight. In Chapter 15, Whis indicates he's slightly weaker than Future Trunks while both are using Super Saiyan 2 and Trunks even outmatches Super Saiyan 3 Goku with his mutated Super Saiyan 2 form.
** Manga Black is far less impressive than his anime counterpart. His higher form appears to be [[spoiler: Super Saiyan 2]] and he gets his shit kicked in by Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. Even worse, Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta can beat back his [[spoiler: Super Saiyan form]]. He would have died if [[spoiler: Future Zamasu]] hasn't intervened and healed him. Keep in mind, in the anime, Black in his base form was able to take hits from Vegeta at full power and not take any noticeable damage. Chapter 20 mitigates this and has Black curbstomp Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta and Goku in a similar fashion to his anime counterpart - by using his AdaptiveAbility to increase in power and surpass them. [[spoiler: He also gains Super Saiyan Rose, although he does take a downturn in his last fight where he doesn't grow stronger after Vegeta beats him to a barely living pulp, instead choosing to whine about it to Future Zamasu]].
