The manga was started late in 1997 by YukiruSugisaki, and went on for 11 volumes before being put on a two-year long hiatus. Sugisaki wrote new chapters for the series again in 2008 to the delight of fans, particularly since the stopping point was a cliffhanger. Then, after a one year hiatus, Sugisaki picked up the series ''again'' for the January 2010 issue of Asuka. As of Stage 4 Volume 14, Part 1 of the manga has ended and it appears that Sugisaki is once again going on hiatus to do a 6 month serialization of a new series titled "School Girls Pin-Up". Hopes are that it will once again resume after these 6 months, as the ending to Part 1 was quite the cliffhanger.

* LivingCrashpad: In the anime and the manga, Riku falls of a cliff with Daisuke Niwa, and Daisuke is on the bottom when they hit the ground, cushioning the fall.

Most of the manga has been brought over by Tokyopop, though nothing yet has been announced about bringing over the already released Volume 14 and the recently announced Volume 15. The anime aired in Japan in 2003, and was released in the US by ADVFilms. The anime and manga differ on some details, particularly which Harada twin Dark happens to have a thing for in the beginning. The anime also ended with a GeckoEnding (although with the way Sugisaki has been going on and off hiatus with the series for a while now, it seems like the anime ending might be the ''only'' resolution available).

** At one point in the manga, Daisuke has a date with one of the Harada twins, while Dark has a date with the other... ''at the same time''. The interesting part is that [[spoiler:Riku, the Harada twin meeting up with Daisuke, ''deliberately'' set it up this way to see if he was connected to Dark in any way.]]
** [[spoiler:Purposely done in a recent chapter between Daisuke with Riku and Risa. Riku purposely rejects Daisuke to a school masked ball because she knows Risa will be alone at the dance as she cannot ask Dark to go, so Risa solves it by both of them being Daisuke's dates (while switching as each other).]]

* VicMignogna: Played Dark in the English dub. While many of his fans came from him being Edward Elric in ''FullmetalAlchemist'', some of his earlier fans came from this anime.

* YourDaysAreNumbered: In a later chapter of the manga, [[spoiler:Satoshi confided in Daisuke that the Hikaris rarely live very long, thanks to their family curse. His mother died very young -- and he tells Daisuke that he believes his own death is fast approaching, as well.]]

** Though she puts him through a perpetual living torment so that he can fulfill the dream she never could (being Dark).
*** On the contrary. There is in fact a bonus chapter in the manga where Daisuke mentions that [[spoiler:he thinks Emiko only wanted a son so that she could be the mother of Dark.]] Dark corrects him, [[spoiler:telling him that it is because Emiko's mother died in childbirth, and she felt she had let her father down because she couldn't even become Dark as she was a girl- she wants Daisuke to never feel the way she did.]] So, actually...
** While Emiko can be a little obsessive over Dark sometimes, there's no evidence in the manga that she cares "nothing" about Daisuke. In fact, there's quite a lot of evidence ''for'' her caring for Daisuke in the series. (Being concerned for his safety [even in the traps she sets up to train him], saying that being ''his'' mother is the best thing in her life, etc.)

** What? I always got the impression this happened because his dropping his glasses tends to prompt people to fuss over him and get suddenly close to him, causing a [[strike:hormonal rush]] rise of whatever emotion it is that makes him transform.
*** That probably doesn't help. The manga hasn't been real clear on ''why'' he wears the glasses--just that his eyesight is fine, and his glasses being taken off tends to correspond with [[ItGotWorse things getting worse]]. This'll probably be explained eventually. As long as the manga isn't put on another long hiatus.
