Oga decodes to show up the night before and beat almost all of them on his own very quickly (and the others are only needed for one puzzle/lock challenge). It's ''hilarous''.

* MeaningfulEcho: During the online video game arc, after securing the delinquents' victory over En by [[spoiler:buying the out entire game server]], Himekawa brushes off their shocked exclamations by offhandedly stating that he had to 'blow a bit of pocket money'. Some 100 chapters later, during the Return to Ishiyama arc, he brushes off the disbelief over his [[spoiler: gambit to assure Oga's victory against Takamiya]] by claiming that the millions he spent purchasing the [[spoiler: machine that played a pivotal part in said gambit]] was simply 'pocket change' to him.

* FreudianExcuse: Takamiya's is that [[spoilee: Lucifer killed his entire family and he was isolated for two years until Santome showed up to help him control Lucifer]] which is why he hates oga for having such a comparatively-easy-to-handle demon. Oga [[ShutUpHannibal dismisses this as whining over the past.]]

*** Unsurprisingly [[spoiler:Tojo]] is the exception, [[spoiler:despite only recently being shown to have gotten a King's Crest and not realizing it. Once its power is gone, he gets beat badly but refuses to stay down THEN thinks he has it, starts to win again despite Beel being nowhere near him and his opponent explicitly telling [[BadassNormal Tojo he doesn't even have one now]]. ]]

* ChekhovsGunman: Most of the apparently minor antagonists that Oga defeats early on later return to take active roles. Examples include Shimokawa, Kanzaki's Gang, Himekawa, the Red Tails, and Teimo. The anime also brings back several other denizens of Ishikawa.
